the main stage was AMAZING... looked like what, 7 lasers??? huge amount of space...
then there was the siderooms... i played in room 2, it was roughly the same size as the sideroom at studio 7. I had a blast playing but man was it hot and it only fit about 20 - 25 people... the other sideroom was alittle bit smaller than that one...
but once again.... that was an amazing main room!!! and if i hear one complain about port-o-potties my only response is "NAF" ... hahaha

And I ran into an old buddy I havn't seen since middle school...
Oh, and the venue was amazing! Thank you everybody who is responsible for this party! The people who own the venue, the promoters, the djs, security, and of course all the amazing ravers we have around here!
See you at Bubble Bobble!
(P.S. The portapotties... meh, no big deal... and you KNOW its temporary anyway!)

Definitly one of the best parties I've been to in awhile. I really liked the venue, no cons really that I can see. It wasn't to hot, either - just perfect.
just want to say thank you Seattle.. This was an amazing night & anyone who didn't go truly missed out on something special...
a true OLD SCHOOL WAREHOUSE RAVE!!!
1st off big thanks to Travis with out his help this would never have happend. You came thru in a HUGE way & it wont be forgotten.
Thanks to Joe, Brian, & everyone at Motor, they were great to work with, totally laid back & willing to bend over backwards to help us make this party rock. Thanks to Bones & his security team, they were great, did the job but were respectful of the kids. Great job guys & thank you.
This was a lot of stress to pull off, but in the end well worth it.
more to come after I get some sleep

Awesome times, this was a great party to break in the new venue with.
Heard some great tracks being dropped, including Taj rocking the new Infected Mushroom track! That was awesome.
Oxygen bar was pretty cool. Cleared my head of some of the dirty raver smell (seriously, some people need to learn about deodorant!).
Bones & Staff, always good working with you guys, see you at Bubble Bobble.
Joe, Brian, & the rest of Motor staff, anything you guys need, I'll be there to help out with.

"rain drop"
i dont even know who gave it to me tho. thats ok.
all the sets in the main room were off the hook
taj, marq, and monkey's sets were amazing tho, special props.
didnt get to see much of the two other rooms, they were always full of people but from hat I heard there were some nice beats.
I think i need to get ear plugs though...this infernal ringing wont leave me. thats what I get for sitting next to the speaker though.
all and all I had an amazing night, and there was really nothing to complain about.
great job to everyone involved in making this happen!

Your absence was noted Victor. :-)
I got there in time to see Magnus' set, which was sick! Psytrance to the max.
Thanks to MarQ and Monkey and the rest of the team for putting this on. It had that old NAFty feel... complete with all the underage girls wearning less than they should. It made me feel like the creepy old-guy. I couldn't stay more than like an hour. Yeah, I think my 16+ events are done. This was the clincher.
I left just as Taj was walking in, with the plan to come back, but due to various reasons, I was unable to.
I guess I thought "blackout" implied people were supposed to wear black. I guess theme parties aren't like they used to be...

oh my god, i had an amazing time.
everything about the party was just jghfdjklh amazing
except for some chick puking on me and running off and me having to wear a dress for a good 10 mins, haha
but MarQs set was the one i danced to the most, when he played "burned with desire" i just couldnt stop singing along~
i like club motor, and i cant wait for the next party there [ when is that anyways??]
the vibe was goood, like really good. alot of my friends were there and i made alot of new friends too~

For being the first show ever ever ever there, I think it went off awesome at and for Club Motor. Security and staff knew their stuff, some working with other promoters and venues in the past. There were a couple of bad apples in the crowd, but with the professionalism and other venue experience everyone had the issues were found and terminated quickly and respectfully.
The running water thing was a bitch for sure, but Motor is still being constructed. Once it's done there'll be a bar, concessions area and large restrooms inside. And with all that comes running water. It was cool that concessions put out a jug and cups for free water towards the end of the night though. And speaking of water and concessions, those were big ass water bottles for only $2!
Marq and Monkey worked with Motor and the city a bunch and it paid off for everyone involved. Seattle PD didn't show concern and no one gave them reason to keep watch on things and even the fire marshall was enjoying himself at the end of the night.

This show was awesome! The venue had that totally old school warehouse rave feel to it with a shitload of lasers as the crowning jewel. I played in the 2nd room just before Beefer and had a blast. Jae and Ky and Alice ripped it up before me it was a great time, lots of energy in that room. Thanks again MarQ! For those kind souls that were asking for a CD, you can download any of my psytrance mixes from www.blackvortex.com Thanks again to everyone involved! :)

Okay, so now it's time that I give you my take on things. I first have to go on a little tangent and say that I REAL REALLY REALLY LOVE IT when someone writes a good review of a show. For many reasons. One being for those who weren't there they get the chance to have a glimpse into what really happened at the show, and gives them more information for coming shows, ie amazing new DJ's, great great venues, which rooms are better... and TWO gives all of the people you talk about a voice, and the mad respect they deserve...
Okay so to start it off I have to say that the line was run very properly, well for me at least. I saw a friend of mine at the back of the non willcall line so I stopped in to say hi before jetting intside. Just as I did the owner of the club that our line was going in front of came out and said that we needed to move the line to the other side. I respectfully, well as respectfully as I could told him that if he wanted it moved he needed to go talk to the people at the door about moving the 300+ that were still in line. And he just told me to move. I looked down, saw that I was on the sidewalk and said, "last I heard I can be on the sidewalk all I want, anywhere I want..." He then talked to his bouncers and they went up the front of the line, then came back a bit dejected, lol.
I loved that fact that we got not one but two dif colors of glow sticks, it was quite an awsome treat for those who prepurchased, which is the ONLY way to go by the by. The security that Bones put together was AWSOME!!!! I truly feel that they know what they're doing and hope they run security at other events that I attend. I walked in and Monkey was at the front of the line making sure everything was going right... so I just had to say hi, and chit chat with him a lil. Awsome guy, Good times.
After about 20 minutes of trying to find that bathrooms and running water myself I asked around... and the fact that they had port-a-potties didn't bother me, but the fact that if I stuck my hand in random raver goo I couldn't wash it off was just WRONG.
NOW ITS TIME FOR THE MUSIC!!!!!!!!
I got in about 9:30 respectfully, and heard some breaks on the main stage. Now being a lot picky about my techno I realized that I hadn't heard many breaks sets, weird I know, but I quickly realized why... I'm not the biggest fan of breaks, so to quench my thirst for different music I checked out the other rooms... and oh yeah was I a happy raver. I stepped into the very end of Jae Taylors set and was quite pleased with what I heard, but DAMN WAS IT HOT IN THERE... crazy hot. So I left, but had to go back soon for Iridium Sky and Ikari as I've heard AMAZING things about them. Walked on the main room with my partner in crime for the night Moonlight and heard the beggining of Soulkids set... again the breaks thing, so we quickly fled back to hear IS & I. And on my BUJEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZUS was I happy. They are such a tag team duo of amazingness on the decks. I coudn't stop making weird faces just listening to the beat they had going. I had to get the crowd lowd and proud. I made my way to the front and fist pounded the both of them... and a little side note here, I love DJ's that interact with the crowd, fist pounds and highfives... it makes you more a part of the set. They were awsome. IK was trying to get pictures of I but couldn't get a good angle so I took a pic for him... thanks for letting me help. Right after that they started giving out free CD's... ooooooooooo who loves good new techno... this guy. I went to get more water and was blessed to see two of my favorite raver buddies Jeremy and Leah, you probably don't know them but I haven't seen them since Kinetic 2 and was crazy excited to rave with them again. Unbeknownst to me Leah knows Ikari... wow. So I went back into the room to hear more greatness. I danced and moved and SWEATED as much as I could during their set...
Then Magnus came on, and he's best friends with Jeremy, dude it was a little reunion. Good times. Magnus was awsome, never heard him before but would love to again... for all you promoters out there... get him. His set was great, and I heard a lot of things I'd never heard before... and right after I had that thought Leah leaned over and told me that he produces a lot of his own stuff... WERD to that. I started bouncing around a lot in the middle of his set, had to go see some old friends and meet new ones.
I was on the main floor for the start of Nashers set and liked what I heard... so I knew that Magnus was getting done with his so I went in to thank him and give him another fist pound... he obliged me by chit chatting with me a little outside of the room, good on him. As I was talking to him I coudn't help but hear some sick beats coming from that room again... I looked up on the wall and saw that it was Beefer rippin it up.... wow. So I went into hear some more and he gave me a CD as well.... WOOOOOOOT. He threw it down righteous like.
I was in and out for the next couple of hours. I heard a bit of Taj's set and was mildly impressed. It didn't help that I'd heard such amazing stuff from that side room thus far.
But then one of the best sets of the night started... MARQ. That boy has some SKIIIIIIIILLS. I had never heard him before and was quite pleased with my first experience. I had three of my friends say that he was a 50 pound heavier version of me (looks only). But I have to say that for the simple fact that he's an amazing DJ makes him was better looking than I am. Moonlight and I reunited during this set and stayed hand locked for the rest of the night. We jumped and screamed and pounded fists and danced our legs off. And we didn't think the night could get any better, but holy shit we were wrong.
Monkey had put down the promoter hat to put on the DJ headphones.... thank you thank you thank you thank you for closing out your own party!!! I don't know how else to say this, but his set was one of my Three fav's EVER EVER EVER, and only time will tell where it stands. About 3/4 through his set they started throwing out free stuff... like T-shirts. So a little factoid about our crew of ravers... we love to be close to the stage and watch the dj's up close and personal, ie all the fist pounds and free demo's we got throughout the rave. On man, so I grabbed a black on, then missed one, then got a hold of the last Orange one, and let me tell you Orange is my FAVORITE color, but when I brought it in someone beind me was pulling on it... oh hell no that wasn't going down, so I went to turn around and noticed that it was my good friend Sal who had it and let it go. I then realized that I had grabbed two black shirts and he had two orange and offered a sweet trade, which was amazingly accepted. Then I checked in with Buddha who was RIGHT in front and he had two oranges, a black, and an F8 mix compilation!!!! Our crew was the most hooked up of the night. So Monkey tore the house down and showed who our daddy was that night.
So the call for "You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here" came out and we quickly moved to the exits and realized that we had been privy to some of the best music we've ever heard. Thanks to Monkey and Marq for getting this all together and bringing us the best party since Pirates.
I really liked the new venue and when they get it finished it'll be an AMAZING location. I would like to have more space in the side rooms and ventilation. I really liked how they had the doors open to the outside to keep it nice and cool inside.
Monkey
Marq
Jimni
Iridium Sky and Ikari
-Thanks for talking with me and bantering back and forth with the common raver.
Top 5 sets of the entire night
1. Monkey
2. Iridium Sky and Ikari (They should have been on the main stage)
3. Marq
4. Magnus
5. Beefer
Props
-Jeremy and Leah for coming out
-Great secuirty
-Awsome Raver friends
-For parties that go late into the night
-Some of the best music EVER
-Nice large area for smokers and fresh air
Slops
-Not having some Hardstyle on the main stage
-NO RUNNING WATER
-And the fact that half of PRAM, Radiance and Archangel couldn't make it for various reasons
Just a side note and a bit of a plug, A LOT of the BEST DJ's that were at Blackout 5 will be at Who Let The Cows Out this coming friday at Club Spectrum, (and just in case you didn't know Beefer is now running the show there so it'll be amazing) ONLY $5!!!!!
So till next weekend when I go to BOTH Who let the Cows out and Bubble Bobble and will report back on both, be safe, respec yo self, and keep the PLUR alive!!!!!

great job to everyone who made Blackout possible.
i was very impressed with this party. sure, not everything went the way i expected, but all in all it was spectacular.
in the beginning i was a little indifferent towards motor. it wasn't really what i was expecting and the side rooms seemed a like a bit of a joke. one of them looked the size of a personal storage unit. however, when the club started filling up more it was a lot better.
i didn't spend much time in the side rooms, but i did wander around and i did spend some time at the oxygen bar.
the dj's on the mainstage really did a good job. all of them were impressive. :D
there wasn't really a quiet place to chill. the back of the main room served as the chill spot and it was pretty loud. at least all the music was good ^_^.
once again, great job everyone. i met a lot of awesome people, had a good time and Blackout 5 totally outdid Blackout 4.
keep up the good work!!!

Haha Paradise, that was a longass review but good :) Great seeing you at the party!
MUSIC
Breaks! Wow i forgot hot much I love good breaks, it's been a while!
I lost track of who was playing when but it all sounded good to me. I was dancing all night long which is a sure sign I liked it :D Great lineup guys!
VENUE
For their first event at this venue, I'd have to say the people behind this did a great job. The sound could have been better (more balanced for the room? seemed loud just up front and a bit harsh)... i was wishing earplugs when up front and my ears are pretty thrashed already so that is saying something. The highs in the side rooms were way too loud for me, and not enough bass... but they were too hot anyway so I didn't stick around. That's okay, I wanted to run around and hug everyone :D
I'll try not to repeat what other people have said too much, but all of the above positive feedback I have to say I agree with. The music was great, the glowsticks were fun (i broke one on purpose to put in my hair and had blue glowing goo all over my hands and everywhere... lol!)
I didn't mind the porta-potties... running water woulda been nice, sure, but oh well, what's a lil' toxic goo on your skin, it's a rave!
Security was cool - after the patdown, i didn't notice them at all, which is the way it should be... well, I saw them running back and forth a couple of times to take care of whatever but that just shows they were on the ball. Good job Bones and crew!
The Oxygen Bar was a first for me - interesting and kinda cool, but not sure it was worth the $10. Bring on the Nitrous Bar :)
PEOPLE
It was SOOOO much fun leaving the camera home for a night and just partying with everyone... in case you couldn't tell, I had an amazing time! :D Everyone who got Ev Hugs now knows just how good they are - if you missed your chance, say hi to me next time... i was on a hugging rampage, haha :)
Wow, I met so many cool people I don't know where to start - but if I met you and we talked and/or hugged you or whatever, add me on MySpace if you haven't already.
Until next time... keep on dancin'!

A few things I noticed were the water bottes for one, central coolling fan, oh and a ton lasers all doing their own thing. I really liked how it had a smoking section out back with porta-buckets(reminds me of an old place *sob*). Sound was nice in all rooms with very little bleed through
except the 3rd room had breaker problems, luckily, I didn't happen during my set.Overall it couldn't have been better. Just wanted to say thanks anyone who heard my try at electro house , I had so much fun I might just try it again

Overall great party, shure the porta buckets were lame, especially after some people decided it would be a good idea to puke in them. But these things can be easily overlooked when the venue, staff, dj's, soundsystem, lasers, and vibe just all around rocked. Amazing party, no doubt! Hellz yea 4 F-8!

I really Enjoyed Blackout, i enjoyed everyones sets all the rooms were Of the CHain i couldn't help myself but to just walk from room to room and dance my ass off. I loved Jimni's set even when the oxigen bar knocked out her power. i loved how we were playing Jimni says hahaha. the vibe was soooo great i loved everything about this party but a couple things witch are easy to fix which i have some sugesstions the Presale line had to go into a little both then get in another line and get inside to get in which is hard and was really long.. if presale could just go into that room the side door was in and besearched and all there it would save time that is the reason for presale right? i enjoyed that there was a oxegen bar at the party but the fact that it down powered the boxes from so much energy was boo boo as far as that the party fuckin rocked it was so good i feel sorry for any raver that missed it or was unable to attend, Thank you Jimni for the Awesome show. Thank you Iridium Sky and Ikira For your awesome show(and how the fuck do you know my real name...) everyone rocked gah. this is one of the most memerable raves.
I Also would like to give a BIG thanks for security not being rude but accually wanting to help people if they need help. Thanks guys
The rear security guard had some issuses Due to the fact that a friend asked in the front of the building "can i leave threw this way" and he said "no go threw the back" he went to the back and the guy said he "can't leave so go threw the front" so he went back to the frontand the guy up there said to him "tell that guy in the back he can go fuck himself" he returned to the back this time upset and just lifted the yellow tape and was walking out not sharing words with him and the guy grabbed hime. My friend then decided to make a threat that involved breaking the hand that was holding him. he let go and he went home if the guy in the back ever reads this.. or someone tells him.. next time try to be of some assistance if you don't like what you do and that is why you are angry then find something you like that is what life is about finding your true inner calling.
Other than my complaining I would like to give one last BIG thanks to everyone that was involved in making this great party happen.
Also, i would like to see more parties at Motors. ^^

Word word. Had fun playing for the all ages crew. Definetly very high energy. Love the reaction and energy you guys have for the muisc. That 3rd room is definetly too small and hot. Maybe make it a chill room for future events. Would like to see DnB represented on the mainstage as well at least for an hour during the event or even make that second room all drum and bass. Hope to see this space used for future events. It had a bit of an old skool warehouse vibe to it, wich was good to see. Good times tho thanks guys.

To all the people who were givin' light shows, THANK YOU! :D
yeah, it was pretty much a light show storm of 4 - 8 people.
i think the badassery of it totally beats the nasty-ness of it.

My one-year anniversary (Blackout 5) was fucking bombsauce as a motherfucker. I loved it. Minus the fact that there was no running water. But I was able to deal with it. To all of you who wished me a happy one-year, thank you and I'll see you at Blackout 6.
Ok now that I have had a few days to catch my breath I still just think… WOW.
This party was hard to pull off, originally planned for Spectrum as a 2 room 16+ event, but once the Getting Lucky clusterfuck went down, we were no long considering using this venue. This posed some problems, our fall back Heavens was 18+ 21+, & the line up we had was not right for that venue. So the mad scramble for a venue began. I talked to every club, every city building, tons of warehouse owners, & anyone else I could think of to try & secure a venue for this event. We talked to Seattle Center, The Expo Center, The Pacific Science Center, Heavens, Nuemos, Fenix, Element, Aristocrats, Freemont Studios, and a ton of other places, & NOTHING was going to work out for what we needed. Finally, I talked to Travis about his new place that wasn't ready, Motor. I went down to the fire marshals with Travis & filled out one time use permits hoping that everything would fall in to place. Then a week before Blackout, we found out Jesse lost his permit for Down The Rabbit hole. I needless to say was very concerned that the same would happen to us. Thanks to the efforts of Travis Webb we got our permits. This was nerve racking, up until 5:30 the day of the show when the fire Marshall showed up with permit in hand.
In planning for DTH3 Travis had offered us a 3rd area that we could use, this area was to be a kitchen but due to construction delays, it was not even started. I was told "this area is bigger then the other small room", at that time we added the 3rd room. I was unable to actually see this 3rd room till the night before the event. So my apologies to the dj's that were playing room 3, we didn't know it was going to be that small. BUT every time I waked by that room was jumping. Room 2 was also smaller then we had originally planned for, so this led us to juggle the line up around to get the out of most of the out of town guest to the main room, & reposition some locals to fill out the rooms more evenly. We had 2 lasers for each side room & 3 for the main room, but when we saw how small those rooms were, there was no room to fit them. So we just put all 7 on the main stage, & that worked out to be a great idea. The main room looked amazing.
Since Motor is not open & still under construction we had no choice but to use port o potties. This will be fixed at some point in the future, so running water will be available, & indoor pluming. Just a minor issue we had to work around. With the lay out of the building & the back door leading to Occidental, we set up a free reentry smoking area in the back. People could freely go in & out to smoke when ever they wanted. This led us to the re-entry fee. Since we had an area outside people could go, cool off, chill out & smoke, there was no reason for people to be hanging out in parking lots, or out the front door. With under age events, the SPD & the City look down on free reentry, they don't want under age kids going out to their car's to drink or what have you.
Musically, I think this event covered it all.. We had Breaks, Drum & Bass, House, Trance, NRG, & Hard core. A little something for everyone. We couldn't get everything on the main stage, but the main stage had breaks, house, trance & hard trance building up to the end of the night. All the dj's I got to catch did a great job. Mky started the main room off right with some dirty breaks, followed by Seattle break beat king Soulkid. Felipe Avelar ripped it up with some banging house. Sadly, Nasher was unable to play, he uses Seratto & it was fucking up for him. It’s a shame he couldn't get it working, Nasher is a killer trance dj & I know Seattle would have liked him….So Felipe just kept going till Taj went on. Taj is an legend of the SF scene, & he show us why with a killer banging set. I had a great time playing, the energy was off the charts but what else would you expect from Blackout 5? Monkey finished the night off proper, finally graduating to cdjs & rocking some killer new cuts. Room 2 started with the debut of Jae Taylor, Jae is only 16 but brought it strong at his 1st event. Iridium Sky & Ikaria followed with some killer trance, great job guys! Then Magnus ripped it up with some psytrance fury. Beefer rocked it with some sick hard trance & led into the boys from Reno, Beatson, aka Jetson & the Beast. They tore it up for 2 hours, playing hard core, hard style, gabber & everything in-between. Again, I am sooooo sorry that you guys had to play such a small room, but you will be back to Seattle again!! Finally Sound wave closed room 2 proper with some sick NRG. Room 3 started with an unscheduled mini set from Scrabbles, then the D&B… Nick Tornetta started it off filthy, followed by some OLD SCHOOL from Jimni. The Dowlz packed them in there for his ill broken beat sounds. Then the debut of the Smoke Shack Dj's featuring Wheelz & endope. MAN, that was out of control… That room was packed like a sardine can with people chanting SMOKE SHACK!!! Strong arm followed with some sick banging house & Chris Atom finished it off with some ill Electro house. Great job by all….
We also gave out over 800 glowsticks at this event!!!! ALL presale ticket holders & the 1st few hundered people thru the door got glowsticks. It was killer to see them all being used, & everyone having so much fun with them.
Again I want to thank everyone who came out, this was an AMAZING night. A truly old school feeling warehouse party, just as we wanted. (see the post in the event thread…."think old school") No flashy headliners, no fancy venue, just good music, good vibes & good times. Thanks to everyone at Motor, Bones & his security team, Travis Webb, & all the dj's who made this event what it was. Now mark your calendars Nov 16 2007…. WHITEOUT 5!!!

Good times my friend. Good to see you guys pulled it off with a little drama the week before. The place did look like it needed some work to be done, but definetely has potential down the road as a great Main room venue.
Heat wasn't too bad and the sound wasn't bad either. It's gonna really take a KICKIN sound system to actually fill that entire thing up. That's gonna be a tough one.
I had a bunch of girls with me to help pass out flyers for the Bad Boy Bill show at Little Red Studio next week and they got more caught up in dancing to MarQ's set instead. Thanks man. Your no help! haha
Tons of cute young chicks there. Nice job. I felt like i was goin' to jail as soon as soon as I walked out. lol. I wanna be young all over again.
The whole no bathrooms thing was a real damper to the venue. I hope they get those up and going before another party happens because that really sucks. I took a leak and couldn't wash my hands afterwards. Gross.
Either way. it was a great time. And the best part is I could go next door and have drinks at the TPD party (lame, but hey, there's drinks there)!
Nice job on a good party. Now I gotta get my mixer back. lol
How'd you guys like the DJM 800 anyways?
we are starting a blog link with pictures from the party. If you have any let us know & check www.myspace.com/blackout4 for more photos
