So I jokingly told this friend of mine that they were being a bitch. Joke or no, she was not happy about it. My obvious response was to come to the interweb and post a poll about it.

I personally think that it is all about CONTEXT!!!
If you were joking and the situation was lighthearted and playful, then I don't see a problem with it.
If you were in an arguement or something, then I can see where she might take offense.
Just slap her ass and tell her to get over it ;) :D

"Bitch" is just a word that people throw around when they are afraid of a strong woman.
I take it as a compliment, because bitches make the world go around!

Bitch to me is about the least offensive of all words. 25 years of being Mitch the Bitch will do that to you.

i hate people that take inordinate amounts of offense at a single word.
they cant look past the one short amount of letters to the context that it was used in.

no, bitch is a word I throw around when someone is being a bitch, male or female.
I like strong women, and them being strong doesnt make them a bitch.
Being catty, stupid, lying, snotty = bitch.

Ahahaha! I love that song.
I generally laugh. Bitch is nothing compared to other terms. Pluss I think Nukegrrrl is right..... People can't handle a strong woman, so they call her names because they sure as hell can't outwit her.

Haven't you ever seen catty bitches at a club that see a cute girl walk in and say something along the lines of "Like that girl is like totally a bitch!"
It's a term that CAN be used in a jealous catty way. Not always, but you hear that shit all the time.

same. word to wise parents: do not name your child "mitchell" or anything else that rhymes with a swear word. then at least bullies will have to be creative when they make fun of your kid.
anyway i think it's funny to call guys that but i would use discretion when saying it to a girl. if i'm joking around it's someone who's sensitive about other people thinking she's mean then i wouldn't say it but some girls sort of 'take it back' as a symbol of pride and don't take it personally. on the other hand if i'm being serious and a girl is acting really mean i might say "you are being a real bitch today" and if they get mad then so what because that was the point. i don't think i would say that seriously to a guy it just seems weird for some reason...
i think it's kind of disrespectful to refer to a group of girls or women in general as "bitches" or "hoes" or "sluts" seriously. i get annoyed when people do that in porn. it's kind of degrading.

I think of all NWT tards as my Bitches. You are my Bitch,Bitch. What could anyone on this board possibly do about me calling them such? Point and case you are just a bunch of bitch ass punks.
I almost never call a woman a bitch I reserve the word cunt for that!
Does that bother you cunt? It's just a word... Unless the shoe fits then it has meaning.

I perk up and go, "huh?" That or I normally laugh a lot and call them a hussy or some other delectable moniker.
The term bitch doesn't offend me. "Slut" and "Skank" and "Whore" are some terms that get under my skin if we're tossing words around (argument wise). I normally just smile when someone calls me a bitch because, at times, I know its fully warranted.
But just as a joke or whatever - pfft! I'll call you bitch in a heartbeat! :) You just have to say it while smiling or at least giving them some kind of mischievous smirk! ;)

I don't care. Usually people call me a bitch as a joke. Others like my boyfriend can call me a bitch...well because I can be one!

I dont care. Words are words. The only have the power to hurt if you let them. I have known a few girls in my day who will get all riled up when someone calls them a bitch, but honestly if you are seeking that kind of drama to flip the fuck out on someone just for a word they said... well maybe you are a bitch :D
And yes, it is all about context, obviously. If I was in a heated discussion with someone and they called me a bitch, I would obviously rip their eyes out. Obviously.
