YES THEY DO

this was hands down the best night of my life

the energy was OUT OF CONTROL

the mainstage, the floor of the LA COLISIUM was packed with like 25 thousand people. Oakenfold followed by Deep Dish followed by Hernan Cattaneo, followed by Above and Beyond

the best experience, amazing sound, unreal lighting and effects, massive organization, everything went to plan

So i had Quite the crazy edc.

I live and go to school in Ellensburg, WA and had been planning this trip out for about 3 months. I woke up at about 10:20 on saturday, the day of the rave, i hopped in my car and drove to SeaTac to board a flight to LAX at 1:30. I arrived in LA at about 330 or so, got a cab, and straight to EDC i went!!!!!

First off this event was SUPER organized. They had many lines to get in, so that went pretty smoothly. They had the grounds set up beautifully. The weather was awesome as well. Upon getting in I met up with some friends of mine from SoCal. We made a trip through the massive vendor area with just about everything you could imagine. It was also packed, sporadically placed all along the grounds were vendors with water, and others with beer, which was nice =)

so now to the music, i had diligently made a schedule for my time at EDC, because to be frank, i knew i would be rolling way too hard to remember what time and where i wanted to see DJs.

with that said, i wandered over to a side stage Cosmic Meadow, and was watching Lenny Vega, the place wasnt packed yet, but there were prolly 2 thousand people in front of the side stage. I began to dance and also began to roll, he played some great pure house with some breaks in there, and i was loving it in the 90 degree sun. after dancing there for about an hour, we wandered to another side stage, this time the biggest side stage of the 4. A dj i had never heard of Nicholas Bennison was playing, he was playing some great trance/progressive/psy a combo of a lot of things, and i was groooooooooooovin to his set. I heard the final hours of his set, and it was a great warm up for

DESYN MASIELLO
desyn ripped it up, he played one of the best sets of the night. The crowed was like 4 thousand deep and LOVING it. Desyn spun between 8-10 so it was GREAT to have a sunset set by Desyn. His house is some of the best, it was very progressive, not so much electro, which was very refreshing and i dance my fucking ass of to this set. The crowd was going nuts.

after Desyn i headed over to another side stage the BassPod, where Krafty Kuts was just coming on, I'm not the biggest breaks guy, but his shit was banging, it definitely got me dancing and moving around, all the people i was with LOVED his set, after about an hour i realized DEEP DISH was about to be on the main stage, and it was time to head there

THE MAIN STAGE WAS CRAZY, i cant even explain how crazy it is, check out some of the pics on the insomniac website, there had to be about 25 thousand on the floor, dancing there ass off. When i came in, Oakenfold was just finishing his set, and the last 45 minutes was real nice. He throw on Gabriel and Dresden - Dangerous Power, and that got me REALLY going, the music was so fluid and the lighting and sound was incredible. Still dancing into oblivion, Deep Dish took the stage and they BLEW IT UP. There was very dark/proggy to begin with, but then it peaked with their track PATT(party all the time) once the breakdown was done and the beat dropped again, THE PLACE WENT NUTS, the ground was literally shaking everyone was jumping in the air and dancing, it was an amazing sight, there set was amazing, they played Say Hello somewhere towards the end, and that track also was amazing.

Hernan Cattaneo came up next, and he was the main reason i came down to Cali. His set was Superb, some people give him flack because his recent mixes have involved some electro/minimal kinda stuff, but i LOVED it, he combined beautiful progressive with twitchy and body moving minimal and electro. Don't think there was one single lyric played during his set, but i danced the entire time, and had some really crazy visuals from some of the party favors i had took:)

After this i was VERY VERY tired and Above and Beyond were going to close the night out. I walked into the bleachers on the side, which provided an awesome view, and the sound was still insane. We watched their entire set up there, under the moon, really peaceful stuff, and im not a big trance dude, but then, it sounded amazing. It was also crazy to get above the crowd and see exactly how big it was, and watch it move with every tweak and buildup.

then left, hotel, flew home later that night, AMAZING DAY

THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE

so much more, but you would had to be there, i was there for almost 12 hours and never ONCE wasn't listening to world class music

I really wish I could have been there. EDC was my favorite event (massive at least) when I lived in California, and I would have loved to go since it was at the coliseum.

Looks like it was a ton of fun. Insomniac brings it every single time.

unlikely. The lineups have degraded more and more over the years to hardly any house music and rely more on trance and EX trance DJs that are all on the prog wagon now.

no surprise there, its pretty often at big LA parties there are gang fights over selling territories.

I had a great time at EDC! It wasn't quite as good as last year but it was still amazing. John 00 Flemming and Infected Mushroom both played awsome sets. I dancd harder than i have in a while, i really really needed that. The side area was so crowded for infected mushroom there was absolutely no room to dance so we climbed up a hill into ancle-deep bushes where we could see and sortof dance. I think they should have put them on the main stage.

The venue was awsome I had only heard about parties at the colliseum back in 2001 and people still talk about them. Big open area under the sun and stars huge dancefloor and plenty of room to wander, get drunk, go on carnival rides, and cool off between djs. I brought a friend from seattle with me and if you could only see the look on her face when i walked her up to the main stage. it was like a 5 year old aproaching the gates of disneyland for the first time. The vendors were selling some really cool crafts one booth was even selling hoops and poi. I learned once again why my rule for LA is "dont trust the rave food". I also liked all the freak shows and the random drums circles that was new. I was a little disapointed mutaytor wasn't there this year.

I am not so much a fan of the artists they had on the main stage but i did really enjoy above and beyond and paul's sets. i was a little disapointed with pendilum it was kindof a dull set so i diddn't stay too long in the bass pod. I wasnt paying as much attention to the lineup on the house stage where we set up our blanket and meeting spot but after midnight it was going off as well. Im so glad i made it down for this, so much good music so many good vibes. People get mad when i say california parties better than washington but i think you all can now see where im coming from.
noctournal wonderland is in a few months it is useually the same party without the carnival rides. If anyone was bummed to miss this i would suggest going to that.

The ticket to this party was my birthday gift from a friend who lives down there, this party kicked ass!!! Deep dish, Paul Oakenfold and Above and beyond all played in the main center stage, there was a sea of glowing ravers...omg and the music ROCKED!! I got Above and Beyonds' signatures just for kicks, and then wandered off and heard this really awesome music, went to listen, and guess what? It was them rocking the house once again...I want to go again.....I love massives....
