That many shots in that short of a burst and hitting 9 people, I'd say it was premeditated.

This is a further demonstration that Violence is not a direct association to Hiphop, a club, or a specific promoter.
Whenever this happens, people start pointing their fingers at different reasons why it happened when the bottom line is that the reason why it happened is because of Hate and Anger.
Both of those are elements that we *all* have. You, Me, anybody could have easily done this...We are just lucky enough to have enough self control (right now)
I feel bad for the victims and their families, the promoters, security, and anybody who had to witness that trajedy. It is something that nobody should experience.

Interesting how a hip hop fan would take a moment in a tragedy to excuse hip hop violence...that is a telling sign right there.

Hip hop reflects the culture which is often times violent, not the other way around. Violence is caused by poverty, hate, anger etc.
This is a sad day indeed.

there is violence at a lot more than just hip hop shows. ever been to a metal concert? punk concert? shit, someone was stabbed to death by hells angels at a rolling stones concert for crying out loud. Not to mention there was a gang fight at USC 10 year anniversary, right in front of me and my girlfriend.
violence can occur anywhere, music being played there has little to do with it in my opinion.
I have a feeling that most violence that happens at events was planned out before it happened, oftentimes the person or persones killed were marks and it just happened that there was a style of music playing.
I could be wrong, but that's just my opinion on the matter.
I will watch the video now, I'm sure it's ghastly and I'll turn it off.

Violence is caused by violent people. If all of those things that you listed were true, how is it that rich people kill too?

Reports on sites said that there was a dead woman and man, with the woman's husband shot in the leg. We'll likely never know the 'truth', because is south america... sadly, this shit is common.

Yeah, that video was pretty bad. Reminded me of when they showed Dimebag Darrel shot to death on stage. Which also happened to have not been at a hip hop show. He was one of the most prolific metal guitarists ever.

Just for the record, that was in the 60's and was after that cat shot at the stones.

Maybe I have seen too much, but there wasn't anything in that video that was very graphic. People laying wounded, dead and dying may be pretty grizzly, but its nothing we all haven't seen recreated a gagillion times before in our own living rooms.
Watch what we have caused in Iraq. Witness what our allies in Israel do to Palestinians on a regular basis. Thats graphic.
Violence sucks. It happens and always will. My empathy extends to those that have to deal with the aftermath to a great extent.
I guess I'm in the "nothings shocking anymore" camp.

;) I was just using it as an example of death at a non hip hop show.

I've seen someone shot right before my very eyes, so seeing it on a video doesn't do much to me. I've seen a lot of shitty things happen to people. None of it happened because of rap music either.
Still is sad that it happened to those people

i wouldn't go outta my way to say i've seen someone shot.
genuinly, i'm sorry you had to witness such events, but this is so far from hiip hop,let alone rap. i dunno why you even brought that up.
this is gang related, premaditated, and shouldn't even reflect on any genre of music in the slightest.....
but yeah, south america don't fuck around .

More people dead...who cares. If they aren't Americans, do we actually care? No. Your so insulated from global empathy that your own self focused brain is having troubles garnering the actual compassion towards the untimely deaths of people from another country.
Imagine the headline said it took place in the northwest for some reason. We begin to express comforting terms to express the fact that we should have a genuine sense of compassion. Our ability to dismiss the same human aspects across the board for all humanity is to great of an emotional task for you. It has to be so in your face for you to even care.
That means your regional interest are your core cultural values.
Being in the Northwestern region of the United States makes you a Cascadian.
The next state in your progression is the scramble to accentuate our regional character and develop our unique culture and embrace the fact that we share a common destructive corporate slave as a national governing body.
A few people shot is not that significant. The fact that there was a celeberty there makes it significant. Add to the fact that someone decided to grab and aim a camera at human tragedy is what created the sensational aspect.
Don't feign compassion when the feeling isn't really there.

What are you, fucking 12 years old?
No, But it appears you're pretty close to that age. If you look at the statistics and facts surrounding violance, there is no substantial eidence whatsoever pointing to hip hop as being a cause. Im sure there are many instances where some young hip hopper is influanced by violent rap to commit crimes, but over all that is not the case. In fact, violence in many big cities has actually decreased in the years following the 80s when hip hop was beginning. If you were a little older, you might remember the 70s, and early 80s before hip hop, and how much more violence there was then compared to now. Heres some murder rates. per 100,000 people
