Date posted: August 2 & 3.

Update: We have found the perfect parcel of land to hold this event on! It includes plenty of space for many people to camp (property owner hosted a 600 person band camp last summer). There are several acres with trails, a fully stocked fishing pond, 90 minutes from downtown Seattle near Olympia. Private land, zoned for music festivals, camping, and other uses. We will be setting an official date this weekend, with respect to other camping events in the area. We would like you to put your two cents in on the dates.

Family will be defined in similar terms to this: You must be a parent with your child (young or old), you can bring your parents, sisters, cousins,Grandmothers are especially welcome to attend etc. along with you, we realize that family is defined in several ways and all are welcome. However, this is a family camping event and so the music will not last until 4am and respect must be paid to the family members of all ages and their needs. Our main goal to share the music that we all love with our families and we hope to showcase all styles of electronic music. If you have ideas or would like to host a workshop, please let us know.

My Husband and I had an Idea and wanted to see what everyone else thought about the situation.

We have a 2 1/2 year old by that loves to go camping and absouloutly loves techno music. We are thinking of throwing a parents and children camping trip this summer. This would be a gathering outdoors where we could set up a stage and have music from the afternoon up till around midnight(so the kids can all sleep in peace). Our inital thought is for mid summer. We would like to have a community campfire, BBQing, football, tree climbing, swimming, marshmallow roasting etc.....

We have a sound system generators and most of the necessity's and what we want to know is.....Are there more parents that have wanted to attend an event like this.

Let us know and please give suggestions if you have them!

Thanks,
Holly and Jay!

I 100% support something like this!

anything to help teach my 7 y/o that Chris Brown isn't the best thing since sliced bread.

Sounds great. My wife is due in June, though. We do A LOT of camping on a regular basis. (looking forward for the temp to stay above 40 degrees in Eastern Washington right now to go to Vantage).

We are looking to get back to camping in August after the baby is born...

It is a good idea to just hang out and have some fun.

Maybe we can get DJ Goldfish to spin for a while:

This is a great idea.If you guys need spots There is always up here in the olympics.I may kick down my lighting set for the kids to drool over if I don't have to drive more than 10 miles to set it up.I live 10 miles away from deep woods and swimming and hiking galore.

He's this like 16 year old "R&B sensation", he's had a string of pop-40 hits over the last couple years. I was not impressed with the kid at all based on his tracks, but I saw him dance on the VMAs last year, and holy balls. This kid was doing crazy shit. So I gotta at least give him props there lol.

I'd bring my kid down from AK for something like this in the summer. I have to warn you now though she might unplug the decks from the generator to use her hair straightener though.

Its pretty much all jungle in our house but our kid loves all styles of techno, He freekin hates pretty much any kind of pop or rock music. Its kinda funny cuz if I put on sublime or something he will say "no mommy, want to listen to dumm n bass" Its so cute:D

It would be cool to have a one hour workshop to teach kids about the diffrent styles of music and some basic dj skills.....that is, if they could all be still for that long!

If anyone knows any fire dancers I think the kids would really like that.
Also, We are going to look for a spot for the........................................
1st annual Pacific Northwest Family Techno Campout!
Please give suggestions as to where we should look for a campout area. We would like to have central location so everyone from Washington and Oregon can attend.

Not to be a buzzkill, but couldn't that maybe be a bad idea in the forest in summer? I'd be interested in this (depending on the location) but am wondering how the timeline would really work out for me.

That's a good point, I guess there are probably a lot of fire bans/restrictions. We would like a performance of some kind, and depending on the location may be looking for fire dancers. Open to any other suggestions though.

As for a timeline, we're still trying to figure out a date. We'll keep you all posted, glad to see there is a lot of interest.

We have been considering dates for this. We are thinking mid-July, early August. We would like to coordinate it so everyone can come, so let us know if there are any conflicts or if you would be traveling a long distance.

As for selling the idea to your spouses, we would like to stress that this is going to focus on family. We would likely start out with some raggae music in the morning, yoga, arts/crafts work shops for the kids (tie dye, kandi making, etc)., Music work shops, this would run until around dinner time, a big bbq for dinner, then the music would run from 6pm on. With family camping far enough away/music low enough that the kids can get to bed a reasonable time. Then parents can enjoy themselves afterwards, minimal alcohol, just a laid back fun group camping experience. We hope to be close enough to a lake that we can either drive to swim or walk.

We want to bring the music/setting we love to our kids. If you would like to help with coordinating work shops or want to dj we would love other parents to be involved. We are going to be hiring a sitter for our son, who will be coming along to this adventure, to provide back up care at the camp.

So please share your ideas!!

I would love to go to something like this with my son. He's only 1 now, but I'm sure he would love it. He certainly loves house and drum n bass already and being outdoors.
