Ok so I was on my way back to work after lunch today. I work directly across the street from Gas Works park and was on my way to the parking lot coming down North Northlake Way.
So this blue Tahoe comes flying up behind me and starts honking its horn. So I flip them off since I was already doing 10 over the speed limit.
So dude flips me off, and we go back and forth in the battle of the fingers.
So guy honks his horn again. I look back expecting another finger and I see red and blue lights flashing behind me. The exact set up and kind that I've seen on undercover patrol cars.
I pull into my parking lot and dude goes flying by and starts doing it to the car in front of me, then turns on his lights so they would get over.
He had tags and rims, so I'm guessing it wasn't a cop, thats not even considering his behavior.
License plate number is 043-VDH.

Maybe but I doubt it.
Looked like a wannabe gangster Mexican.

I know folks who do that by pretending to be construction workers but pretending to be a cop is taking it to whole other, and totally illegal, level.
Are you reporting the car/driver?

The day I get a ticket for flipping off the cops is the day we are all clearly doomed.

I would imagine if they ever use their personal vehicle for police business they would. Keep in mind a cop is never necessarily "off duty" and can exercise their police powers on the fly when they see a crime being committed, whether they are in uniform or out, in a marked car or not.
But I don't even live in Washington state much less the county and city Rob does, so I don't know for sure what the regulations are there.
Regarding why he might not have pulled you over for flippin him off, perhaps he was in a serious rush to a crime scene or something and really just needed to get through.

I was thinking that as well.
A cop is always a cop and I've seen them mod their cars with lights.
but I doubt this was a cop, I think it was just someone with some lights in their car.
Eh, Seattle is a lot smaller then it seems, I'll see him again. A lot of the people who live in this area have a lot of money and tend to stay in this area for the most part so I'll probably see him again.

Impersonating a vehicle or officer carries a maximum fine of 5 years imprisonment and $5,000 fine.
Turn it in!

agreed. then you will at least know if it was just an asshole or an actual cop.
for the record, its not illegal to flip off a cop with one hand while driving. i was in the car with my dad when i was like 13 and he was pissed off and flipped off a cop with BOTH hands so the cop pulled him over and flat out said "look, you can flip me off with one hand all you day if you want, but you have to keep at least one hand on the wheel"
lol

He would have but your legs are only open until 2pm on Mondays and he was in a rush.

You should report the dick head, it's illegal to have lights resembling those of a cop car and especially to use them!

I see undercover cop vehicles all the time in Washington.
I've seen volvo's, camry's, chargers, minivans, you name it.
Most of them seem to have tinted windows with the red and blue lights built into the grill.
Out of curiosity, I would call the Seattle PD and find out if that license plate is registered to a cop....
Update:: I made the call myself and had the plate run and it is NOT registered to the Seattle Police Department.

Nice.
Yeah the lights were up next to the review mirror, not on a grill.

i've seen 'em with lights in the sin visors, on the backside of rearview and in the grill in the same truck.
those are usually state patrol vehicles, outside of king county.
as best I can tell, city of seattle and king county have very few of their own "significantly clever" under covers. most are caprices & such & "look like cops"
the WSP i have seen with all sorts of seriously rad under covers. the lights are BARE minimum size, led's hidden & black on black paint.
but
looks like this dude made his own thing....fucker. hope he gets busted.

we have an undercover audi, a red n black 67 mustang, n about to receive a new challenger. all undercover, all constantly fucking people over.
if any of you have ever been to gig harbor + kp you would know how unnecessary all this is.
its ridiculous.
