California wildfires 2008

They fucking SUCK this year.

usually it's no mind but this year it is bad. They are fucking with my air quality. Now instead of beautiful blue skys I got this shitty brown/grey haze in the air from all the smoke in the atmosphere.

Doesn't California have insane wild fires every year? I know these ones are bad, but I was under the impression that the ones last year were much more devastating...

They were more devestating because they were in heavily populated areas instead of in the hills.

In our country... devestation = lost money. Money isn't being lost if houses aren't being burnt to the ground.

Also, this year, the fires are more widely spread. Last August, they hit mostly just southern California. This year they started happening in June, and all OVER. They'll probably continue for the rest of the summer as well...

THUS.. making it worse this year, than last.

It feels like LA in Seattle today. All that smoke and heat and haze and smell. I hope with wind changes soon so it can feel like Vancouver instead.

Every Californian that I've met who's come up here is constantly bitching about the weather and threatening to move back. They seem to have a hard time following through on that threat for some reason. Maybe we need to devise an incentive to get rid of 'em.
