Honestly, i am not sure if I am posting this in the correct forum..so feel free to move it if I am not.

This past weekend back in Arizona a good friend of ours threw an event and got attacked by 6 members of this Melloyello's crew

(long back story, basically he decided to NOT use him as an investor and this guy still wanted the money...even though he invested none from what I've heard)

Now, This crew is going around flaunting that they're doing shows in portland and such... Including one this last weekend?

I just want people to know what kind of "company" these people run. My friend was BADLY BADLY hurt (they tazered him and he has stitches in his head) back home, we're boycotting their events and such..

and I just really want to make sure this doesn't happen to any crews out here.. I don't want anyone else getting hurt.. I don't think this crew should be supported if in fact they ARE out here.

Jon Gordon is one of the dudes from Mello-Yello, plays at the Fusion lounge here in PDX. He has a buddy in LA who founded it (Mello-Yello)I guess. I dunno....seem kinda sketch from what I have heard. They are pretty mush a new company trying to hustle their way though. I hate the name and think it's a tad misleading. It made me think they were sponsered by the soda beverage that shares the same name.

they have thrown a few shows here...the latest one was Darude. They attract most of the clubsters. i don't know anyone in our scene that really supports them..

Was it any of these guys?

Honestly, I wasn't there. So, IDK who it was. From what I read it was 6 "latin" males that came up to the door, Asked for Zak (the guy who was doing the show" they came up on him, asked for his money.. he obviously said no.. and then they proceeded to beat him/taze him.... but like I said, that's what came from the person who experienced it.

had someone thuggish roll up on us once...wasn't any mello yellow crew..lmao (what a name, reminds of taking a leak while wuper baked..)

but nothing *really* came of it.

the other experience I had was a nasty assed voice mail threatening me that if I didn't pay up X ammnt for some BS I cancelled...they would "stomp my head at the gate to make a point"

seattle PD LOL'd when i played it for them. I was like "i doubt anything is really going to come of this, but I need something on record just in case." they thought I did the right thing...but the threatening to beat up or kill someone over a couple rave bucks was funny to them... "i thought ravers were too drugged up on E to really fight.."

HAHAHA

YEPPERS....

its quite the talk of the town back in AZ right now.. Cause the person who got jumped (zak) is the owner of that size (azedm) and it's AZ's only EDM site.. so he is kinda important.

Thanks for everyone who came out!! Thanks for everyone that helped!! Thanks for everyone that chased after the guys....

Here is the story of what happened and why:

When I was planning Simon Says Dance in May Tranzit hooked me up with his investor. I gave him my cost sheet for the event that listed everything that needed to be paid for. In the cost sheet I had $200 written next to one of the DJ's name that was comign from LA. This DJ was playing just for the price of the plane ticket which I figured would be $200 or less when making the cost sheet. I asked the investor for the money to buy the plane ticket and he refused to give it to me because it was not in the cost sheet. I explained to him the $200 I put down was for his ticket and he was playing for free. He still refused to buy the ticket. I gave him three days to change his mind or I was going to put my own money into the event. He never contacted me about it so I ended up putting my own money into the event. The day before the party he calls me and asked if we were still good. I told him he had no part in the event anymore because I paid for all the upfront cost. He sent three guys to Simon to get money from the door but I refused to give it to them. They called him and handed me the phoen and he threatened my life if I did not give them money. I still refused to give him anything. Then the cops came and they took the cash boxes anyways so I had no money to give. The next day he started calling me and calling me telling me I better give him money and I still refused.

Lastnight one of the guys that came to Simon came with five other guys and asked me to give them all my money. I refused and started to back away and thats when he pulled out his Tazer and started shocking me while the other guys started punching me and kicking me. One guy had somethign that he beat into my head and left three nice gashes where blood poured out all over the place. At that point Bryce came over started to punch the guys and then the whoel Rave started chasing them and they ran away.

This investor is also a promoter and is throwing events here in Phoenix... I will not name his production company name but just know there is someone out there throwing events like this...

I thought what happened to that kid at Rebirth was rediculous, but this takes the cake.

by about the 8th page or so, a user called "melloyelloent" posts a very professional response and says "we didn't do that shit, and you should file a report, and we're very sorry you were hurt". the admin guy Zak is taking the high road and everyone is starting to cool down.

then some other new user posts "YOU GOT SERVED YOU GOT WHAT YOU DESERVED WE'LL DO IT AGAIN" type shit.

then Zak looks at the logs, and realizes he and melloyelloent are using the same IP. and its coming from a private comcast account, not a library or university.

so the plot thickens.

lol @ wannabe mafia raif promoters.

the best irony is the kind that you laugh, even though you damn well shouldnt,

like when you say to your friend, "whoo better cover your asshole, were in bum country now, hope you dont get buttraped" when getting out of the car by the park by pioneer square, and then he ends up gettin snatched by a bum, taken behind a dumpster.... and uh....

buttraped.

The guy that got attacked was Zak, who is a big player in the AZ scene. He's saying that a guy named Derrick, who's a business partner of Mellow Yellow, came to him demanding money at a previous show. Zak said that he couldn't have the money because the police took the cash boxes and that this guy didn't pay any money to put on the event. Derrick had showed up with another guy. The same guy (not Derrick) showed up at Tofu Robot and demanded all of the money from the show. Again Zak said no and before he knew it, he was getting tasered and getting beat down.

Mellow Yellow says that they had nothing to do with it and Zak even thinks they didn't, but if this Derrick guy is a partner of Mellow Yellow then they would've had to heard of it and know who did it. Zak just wants a name so he can file a report. Zak also mention the name Stephen Nguyen. I don't think we should attend any of their shows in the future. They seem like a shady company.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't support the djs that are with this company, but not go to any events that are financed by this company.

This isn't being posted to harm any DJ's rep. It's the promotion company out of California that throws parties all over the west coast. They helped throw Jon's last party this weekend. I'm not saying that the djs have anything to do with this at all, it's the promoters based out of Cali. If this could happen in one scene it can happen in another.

My intention was to never harm any DJ's careers..... I posted this because I knew melloyello just recently threw an event up here and I didn't want anyone to get involved in a situation like my friend got put in.

I don't want to see any violence in the scene, anywhere in ANY state. so, if I can possibly prevent it from happening out here.. then why not?? If something HAD happened, and I hadn't said anything even though I already knew... that would've sucked!!

If someone had mentioned this to Zak, maybe he would've never been beaten..

get my point?

What I don't understand is why this dude doesn't figure out who beat him up himself...

...He's got the trail. *IF* it is as he says, he knows the name and the phone number of the person he has bad ties with. That person would have asked somebody he knows pretty well to take care of the business.

I don't understand what telling you to tell portland people to lookout for a 'crew of guys' is going to do.

All that he needs to do is follow his bad business partner until his bad business partner hooks up with them.

Connection drawn.

I don't know why people never follow the trail laid in front of them....

I'm not saying that the djs have anything to do with this at all, it's the promoters based out of Cali. If this could happen in one scene it can happen in another.

Jon is not only a DJ for them but he is one of the promotors. He is one of the Mello Yellow crew. He was handing out these crazy buisness cards with Mello Yellow and his name on them as a promoter. Anything he does is through the Mello Yellow name. What that means for him as a dj, promotor, or his rep, I don't know but I just thought I would set that straight.

From what I gathered from this thread... is that there wasn't actually money owed... just someone who thinks they're entitled to something because they have some disillusion that they're a pretty little princess.

That's beacuse you are new to the rave scene. I find that situation very easy to believe......when you deal with money and durgs and people on drugs, the crazist things can happen.

but anyways I hope things get sorted out and names get cleared if they are truely innocent of the acusations.

this is pretty normal in AZ. You get your ass kicked for not sticking to what the plans are.. in this case was a bullshit reason, If you are going to be flaky, and not keep in contact with who ever is throwin the event. you get what you deserve. And talking shit that you cant back up.. gets you a beat down. Welcome to AZ. Where the heat makes you crazy and violent.

What it really comes down to is how much money these guys "thought" they were entitled to, or were entitled to, and why this Zak guy thought they weren't.
New to the scene or not I know that it is all a matter of perceptions of things between people.

^^
Exactly. We are not getting the full picture here.

Between the point of "I told him that I'll find my own funding" and "They started asking for their money", I think there is a major element missing.

There is also another element missing from "The police stole the cash box"....but the party continued going? Did the police REALLY show up at a rave and steal the money and leave?

...And why is this guy not handling it himself. Even up in Washington, I am 99% sure who did it...and it's not Mello-Yello. It's his 'investor's' buddies.

Im obviously speculating here, and you guys can jump on my back if you want...but I think that this guy owed his investor money from other issues. When these guys showed up asking for money, he was obviously willing to get money, but it was stolen by the cops.

If this story were 100% true then he would have handled the situation himself. He would know who to follow to find the guys who attacked him. I highly doubt it was a hired mob.

So jump on my back because Im not throwing him band-aids, but I thoroughly believe that he wasn't blindsided and jumped out of the blue.

You have NO idea how often that happens. CURSE YOU ICEHOUSE!.. and my poor poor buckeye warehouses.

Edit: Things are different here in the NW. There is no Arpio.. no cops who think the cash taken is good enough for them not to fine you or call the marshalls. NW has it easy. Only way to party is to get the hell out of town. but then you lose out on all the monies you could have made from those damn yunguns.

The thing is, Zak got beat up by somebody that didn't invest any money into the party like they were supposed to and decided that he wanted all of Zak's money

You dont get your ass beat for things like that... you get your ass beat for disrespecting. If it was just a "sorry dude didnt hear back from you i have pulled you" things would have went different.

lol any grown man who aggressively launches an offensive attack against another grown man deserves exactly what he gets.

nobody deserves a beatdown. thats why we have shit like laws, lawyers and courts to sort out the shit that frustrates us. if you can't hang with that either because you have problems with self-restraint, or because you're up to your neck in shady shit and can't involve the cops... then you automatically lose.

What the hell is a "dj boss"?

I'm with Ritalin on this one, I've had lengthy associations with 6 production companies between here and California and I've NEVER had a "Boss"
