i'd never heard of him before tonite..

i saw a post on another board about his passing..

he was a college professor who was well known for a lecture he gave after he had been diagnossed with terminal panciatic cancer.. the lecture series was called "the last lecture" which had been recently renamed journeys.. he said "I thought, damn, I finally nailed the venue and they renamed it."

its really good upbeat moving and full of points that we could all bear remembering..

its pretty long but very it flies he's really funny and talking about something he cares about.. achieving childhood dreams..

his wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Pausch) if you're wondering who he is..

It is interesting how close our fields are. He got his dreams his way, and I feel mine coming on. He said he wouldn't discuss spirituality, but he did say he believed in Karma. He also said he wouldn't mention his wife and kids....

I watched it earlier today, and it was a sweet way for a professor to go. He also got to do some other things, like he was signed onto the Pittsburgh Steelers for one day, and gave a few more speeches before he died.

The brick wall was the best point I think.

I listened to this about 16 hours ago, and I keep hearing things he said pop up in my head, out of nowhere. I think it is interesting, how the internet is changing things. A man, who sought to sell nothing, no system for self esteem for only $24.99, no political idea, just to talk, has had over 3.4 million people listen to him. I think that is what impressed me the most.
