OK, i'm wondering what your top 10 *RECENT* 12" singles (not dj's, producers, albums) are. try to name ones that really grab ya if you can.

i'd answer my own question for your info's, but honestly i don't really keep track of the names of tracks i buy. i know what each one sounds like by looking at it, but if you asked me "what track are you playing?" i'd have to look down and read it. lol maybe i'll go through my rekkids when i get home and post a list up later if there are any responses by then. images/smilies/smile.gif

yeah, yr gonna need some speaka support for the dillinja/amen mashup/teebee biz on there or its gonna be noize.

i wonder which tape you have? there's a bunch sorta floating around seattle... mebbe a ragga tape? if you want, i'll do a mix trade with you. feel free to stop by the FOKUS night tonight or next week, i'll drop a CD of my new mix on you in exchange for one of yrs. that way you can bump the tunes for reals.

we got some good DnB support tonight... and next week we got tamara and naha... should be dope. check it.

I'm like you, I'll listen to a butt load of really good tracks, push "add to cart," get them in the mail, listen to them over and over but still never know the track name images/smilies/smile.gif So now that I'm home, looking at my records, I can tell you my own top 10.

in no particular order

- the Mary J. Blige remix from the TeeBee set
- Kosheen . Suicide
- EZ Rollers . Rolling Into One (photek rmx)
- DJ Abstract . Fuck Willie Brown
- Datcyde . Sober
- TeeBee . Let Go
- TeeBee . Missy Elliot rmx
- J. Byrne . Aspect (I think that's right)
- Dylan and B_key . Mindwalk
- Drowning . Dave Aude (some idiot on napster labeled this wrong so the really vocal track is from Dave Aude and the bassy one is AK1200's)

I've always had a thing for vocal tracks with any genre of music images/smilies/wink.gif can ya tell?

i'm exactly the same way. i pick up so much new vinyl constantly and its continually being recycled through my crate... i never have time to actually learn track names, but i can identitify a tune by lookin' at it no problem. my top tens are always inaccurate because i can only remember a few details at any given time. i'll post a top ten here after i get home and take a look at the front of me crate... heavy rotation section.

haven't posted a REAL top ten in a long time.

oh yeah RAMA, i listened to your mix online. i'm at work listening through built in speakers on my flatscreen monitor and can't turn it up very loud, so i couldn't get to REALLY listen to it, but i was diggin what i heard. i got into my box of tapes the other day (tired of the current bunch) and dug out a tape you gave me a while bag at some club gig and been listenin to that. good stuffs. hopefully i'll get a set online in the near future, otherwise maybe i can send you out a cd i made like 4 months ago. heh

Not sure on alot of them, but I just picked up RymeTyme & Nasis, the Missy Elliot vs TeeBee, an Illfingas white label, new Mampi Swift, and another white label that I don't know who did, but it's freakin sick! We nicknamed it skitzo-step, and Sarah McLachlan sweet surrender remix..it ain't 10 but those are the ones I'm digging on the most right now.

RAMA, well first off i don't even live in seattle anymore. images/smilies/wink.gif nope, i grew up out here in the DC area (actually a bit south, but i party in DC so i claim DC. heh), lived out in the seattle area for 2 1/2 years and decided to move back here to try and get my head straight (not much progress in that area, but i'm WORKIN on it!). anyways, yeah the tape i have is some ragga bizniss mostly, the only track name that pops to the top of my head is that dj ink track with the "time.... is running out" sample. yaknow...

TrippYVixen, that kosheen track is EXCELLENT. my sorry ass missed out and didn't pick it up, now i'm having a hard time finding it. images/smilies/frown.gif the ak1200 drowning track is good too for those that have been waiting for that track for SOOOOOOOOO long.

Jungleboy, umm... thanks for reading the question. images/smilies/wink.gif

keep em comin people!! (i'll try to remember to post mine after work tonight, totally forgot last night.)

DB-Dub ~ I KNOW! I've decided I can NEVER order from planetx ever again. I ordered that record and 10 other ones a few weeks ago and when I actually got the delivery... I had FOUR records in there! out of 11 records I got FOUR! what a fucking tease and of course Suicide was one of them. I was lucky enough to have called 360 because they JUST got a used promo copy so I rand down and grabbed it. Probably the best find I've made thus far... that and TeeBee - Let Go is on the way to my house right now from the UK! wh00! images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I hate shopping for records~ haha i'm so poor...

and I'm my best friend lives in DC right now where she is attending American University images/smilies/smile.gif I want to go out and visit her if I ever get the cash and she's sort of in the dnb and indie scenes.

i dunno, i usually get my picks from planetx without too much trouble. last time i was missing 3 out of 10 but i've been ordering from them for years and generally i've gotten my full order. their customer service is pretty much on my SHITLIST, and the records are a bit pricey, *ESPECIALLY* multiple vinyl packs- MY GOD!! but they have all the audio samples and i hate hopping from site to site looking for audio samples and i refuse to buy a record without listening to it (i never understood that).

DC is pretty damn good for D&B, and we're not TOO far from NYC so it makes it that much better. images/smilies/smile.gif but hey, if you ever come out to visit be sure to email me. images/smilies/smile.gif

Topher's top ten: (in no particular order)

*StudiO4: Tracking Device/Rah-jump/tech roller

*Total Science/Digital "tune in" sampler-phat drum'n bass with good melodic introz

*Legacy: Total Science's moniker-This 12" is on Bear Necessity, smooth breaks on side AA, downtempo chill DnB on the other

*Dylan: warpath 005-dark DnB with ill samples, however it's a 10" not a 12"

*Cause 4 Concern: Damn I can't remember what it's called but the sleeve is green/black and the tunes are dark rollerz that are always in my crate circulation

*I got some other shit, but as rama said, I don't really remember their names but the sound and what they look like.*

heh goddamn I never knew there was that many versions of drowning, the one I got off napster said ak1200- drowning (drum n space rmx) so I guess I'm just a victim of ignorance lol!

ah well.

peace out kids

soho
03-22-2001, 09:56 AM
No, you're just the victim of someone else's ignorance that labled it when they ripped and encoded the track. He did do a remix of it too but it's on the OTHER side of the Moonshine 12" with Dave Aude's Drum and Space remix. Whoever fucked it up on napster must have read the label wrong.

Same with Reel Time - Mine. Someone put that it was a roni size song but NO where on the record is Roni Size even mentioned. He must have thrown it into a mix and some idiot was like "YEAH, it's roni size!" when it's Reel Time, the track is called Mine and it's off Full Cycle. Then again, he could have done a remix of it but "roni size's" and the original sound the EXACT same... go figure *shrugs* just don't pay any attention to the track titles on napster I guess is the lesson you can take away from this :)
