he was a democrat until '66. conveniently enough, that was right after the civil rights act, which even LBJ himself conceded would lose democrats the south for a generation. is specter from the south? no. the point is that republicans had some serious backlash momentum in their favor at that point; racists don't just exist in the south and PA is actually a prime example. but the real point is that arlen specter is a narcissistic, self-serving tool. it is so all about him.
