It is our 2-year anniversary and we want to give back a bit to Seattle for supporting our crazy asses. Here's to you- we're celebrating by bringing out one of our all-time favorite artists and supporting with some of the most amazing locals out there! We've stripped the cover charge in half and are bringing a bevy of party favors for all to enjoy.
REBAR (1114 Howell St, Seattle)
Friday, September 11th, 10PM
$5 ALL NIGHT!
No, really! [/size]
Nice one, Bonkers! Jeremy EVAC always brings the goods. Check out his recent remix for Rena Jones.
And Greg is a local hero! One of the other few electro soldiers.
He hasn't lived in Kansas for a while though ;) He's in Florida these days and trying to transplant out west.

Very cool, would be great to have EVAC on this coast!
We had him out about a year and a half ago right after our first couple shows at Rebar and he threw down proper for a very appreciative crowd. EVAC and Greg Skidmore have similar, very specific aesthetics, and it will be interesting to see them on the same stage.
yes, it will be wicked! funny enough, the 3 of us played at Oscillate at Baltic Room when I first moved out here. I hope I can make it out. I might be out of town that weekend.
Keep doing your thing Bonkers!

E.V.A.C.
EVAC is the audio output of Jeremy Goldstein. For nearly a decade, his own imprint, Quadrant 5 Studios, has created sound/music for multimedia works, film and television, as well as releases for labels such as Muti Music, Portland based Buried in Time, Cartesian Binary Recordings, and Colony Productions (UK). While the EVAC project represents a vast expanse of sound, works range from downtempo and ambient electronics into more dance floor oriented bass-driven electro, often wildly twisted and modified. Regardless of genre, an extensive emphasis is placed on original sound design and electroacoustic composition. EVAC has remixed artists such as Funkstorung, Crunch, and Rena Jones, and played alongside artists like Hank Shocklee (Public Enemy), Tipper, Andrea Parker, DJ Krush, and countless others.

Hoooo-boy! That's one hell of a deal, and a bit ridiculous on our part to keep prices this low, but...
We'd rather have a full crowd at Rebar on this evening than recover costs. We consider it a little treat to Seattle, we want to see everyone dripping electro-sweat at the end of the eve!

No, not yet... we got a bit left in us yet. We've realized that before we're done there's a few more things we want to do, a few more shows we've got to throw, and a couple artists in particular we really want to have out.
As for the wording of that- It just didn't feel right to write "celebrating September 11th"... :) That's not our motive
good to hear! and i might just be in town that weekend after all

THE ALGEBRA OF NEED
Lydia, aka The Algebra of Need, is an eccentric genius in her craft- the manipulation of live tonal clusters and tension used to build fugues of the future, meditations on hidden corners of the world. Some of the most haunting and brazenly bizarre music happening in Seattle, The Algebra of Need's music is still kept in balance by the alternating beauty and extreme sound manipulation present in her work. Pleasure Boat Records is very proud to announce the release of On The Border, The Algebra of Need's 70-minute hypnagogic opus, coinciding with this show.

XLR8R- Review of Terra EP
"The debut for Florida's EVAC is a bold declaration of serious, non-cheesy domestic breakbeat music. A mounful wall of bass saws through the title track's slightly electrified percussion, its cleanly edited breaks spattered about with keen musicality. And as if the A-side leaves you wanting, electro veteran Salim Rafiq strips out the nasty bass and converts the proceedings into a dark, smooth electro apparition. Already making impact overseas, it deserves the same here."
BPM Magazine
"Muti Music's strong track record (Future Funk Squad and Ant*ten*nae) continues and earns EVAC our feature of the month... It's booming, it's intricate, it's dark, it's hard-hitting. Sure to please fans of Tipper, BLM, Jackal and Hyde. 5 out of 5."
URB- Review of Apocalypse EP
"Wicked electro is the name of the game on this beauty. The programming on both tracks is tight and tasteful. Ground Attack is a full-on floor assault with its bubbly syncopation, incessant bass line, and slick beats. Just when you thought it was safe to resume your wallflower status, Contortion hits with dark-step beats, mangled bass drops, and a snare drum to rattle the fillings in your teeth."

From EVAC...
Dearest Nerds and Heroes,
I've put together another free sample bundle if any of you are interested. It contains 64 samples and is packed as a 3.9mB .zip for easy download. I've included the notes from the 'read me' file below. . .
Download Them Here
Title: Errorist_01
Sample Format: .wav
Bit Depth: 24bit
Sample Rate: 44.1khz
DISCLAIMER: Some of the sounds are quite harsh and relatively loud. Watch Your Ears/Speakers!
License Information: All works licensed under the Creative Commons 'Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike'
For information visit: http://creativecommons.org/about/licenses/
- You are free to mangle, tweak, re-effect, make tunes, kits, repost the link, share them with friends, ignore them entirely, whatever. - just send me some of the results or a note letting me know that they were useful. It makes it all feel a bit more rewarding on my end, which is always good!
About the samples:
The audio files contained in this collection were taken from a corrupted .aif file that I found on an external hard drive. I stumbled across the file (an absurd 3.6gB in size) and attempted to figure out what it was and where it came from. I still have no real idea, but I believe it was a data file of some sort that had been converted to an audio format (aif) somewhere along the way.
I chopped out loads of one shots, glitches, tweaks, and hiccups and these are the results. Some of these could be great for drums or layering with more 'traditional' sounds like kicks/snares/hats to give some filth/character. Some of the longer tones could make for some absolutely repulsive basslines and synth patches. I haven't dug into them yet so let me know if you discover something tasty.
If nothing else, everyone should be familiar with the sound of a digital machine dying a sharp and manic death. If you've not yet become acquainted with the sound of Binary Vomit, consider this a brief introduction.

BRAIN DANCE ! WHAT IS IT?
is it this?
BrainDance
Developed by Anne Green Gilbert, the BrainDance is a series of exercises that we use in all CDC classes. It is comprised of eight fundamental movement patterns that we move through in the first year of life. Research has shown that these patterns are crucial to the wiring of our central nervous system. As babies, we did these movements on our tummies on the floor. However, cycling through these patterns sitting or standing has been found to be beneficial. This "dance" is an excellent full body and brain warm-up for children and adults in all settings. The BrainDance can be done at the beginning of class; before tests, performances, and presentations; and during computer work and TV watching for brain reorganization, oxygenation, and recuperation.
The benefits for children and adults in cycling through these patterns include:
Reorganization of the neurological system: The fundamental movement patterns wire the central nervous system laying the foundation for sensory-motor development and life long learning. Cycling through these patterns on a daily basis may correct flaws in a person's perceptual process and reorganize the central nervous system so to develop better proprioception, balance, attention, memory, eye-tracking, behavior, sensory integration, and motor skills.
Increased blood and oxygen flow to the respiratory system and brain: The brain consumes one-fifth of the body's oxygen. Deep breathing is essential for a fully functioning body and brain. All movements and rhythms are based on breath.
Enhanced core support, connectivity, and alignment: Becoming aware of the visceral and muscular systems that support the body leads to correct use of body structures and helps children and adults to be injury-free and move with ease and coordination. Each pattern underlies and supports the next pattern and when done in succession brings connectivity to our use of the body, reflecting an integration of body and mind.
Deeper understanding of the elements of dance technique: The fundamental movement patterns are an integral part of dance technique. Whether taking a Ballet, Modern, Jazz, or Creative Dance class, students are able to integrate and apply the patterns of the BrainDance to their technical skill development. Dancers acquire and practice skills with more ease when they are aware that a particular pattern underlies the movement. Movement intent becomes clearer as dancers embody the BrainDance patterns.

From today's issue of The Stranger-
"Newcomer the Algebra of Need (local phenom Lydia Briggs) occupies the opposite end of our electronic-music spectrum: Although she's reputedly recorded about 100 CDs of music, says Bonkers! promoter Ian Scot Price, whose Pleasure Boat Records is releasing the Algebra of Need's CL/Along the Border.Instrumino in time for her September 11 Re-bar gig, Briggs rarely plays out and hasn't received a blip of media attention—till now. She has no internet presence, either.
The 29 AON tracks I've heard (culled from three CDs) are staggeringly accomplished. Nobody in this city—or on this planet, for that matter—sounds like the Algebra of Need. Her pieces range from 47 seconds to 20 minutes, and they follow circuitous paths to seldom-trod regions abounding with highly unusual tones and bizarrely charming tunes. Some tracks boast a monomaniacal, hypnotic quality; others move in unpredictable spasms and lurches. But no matter the methodology, they spellbind with the sure grip of genius. It might seem hyperbolic, but I think that the Algebra of Need is a maverick on the level of Aphex Twin and Raymond Scott. Her compositions' melodic complexity and tonal oddity—what Price calls "microtonal fugues"—consistently tickle the lobes with their exquisitely tactile frissons.
After gorging on the buffet of originality that the Algebra of Need displays over these three nameless discs full of titleless tracks, I can't fathom what other treasures dwell in her hard drive, but I'm insanely curious to find out. recommended"

From Line Out today!
"I rhapsodized about fantastic Seattle newcomer the Algebra of Need in this week's Data Breaker, but the rest of the lineup for this edition of Bonkers! merits exploration, too. Greg Skidmore is one of Seattle's most knowledgeable and technically adroit electro/IDM DJs; the highly versatile and skillful local producer Retic, who flipped Bob James' much-sampled "Take Me to the Mardi Gras" with stunning cunning on his track "Pushing Buttons"; and Florida-based electro dark magus EVAC.
Check out this EVAC mix, a collection of jagged, subtly ominous electro with 'nuff funk in its trunk. Tonight he'll be shifting between a live PA and "digital DJ mashup of splintered electro," according to event promoter Ian Scot Price, who has yet to book a less-than-stimulating night in this town.
The second-anniversary bash of Bonkers! happens at Re-bar, 1114 Howell, 10 pm, $5, 21+."
Well put!
