Named in DJ Mag as the "breakthrough DJ of 2008" by Adam Beyer, the last year has proven to be nothing short of that title for Kyle Geiger. Within the first year of his premier vinyl release, Kyle has achieved international notoriety, a feat that many never accomplish in their entire career as a DJ/producer. Having played literally all over America, the Indiana-based producer is set to storm the international scene. With two European tours under his belt already, including two performances at the widely touted Berghain in Berlin (Voted by ResidentAdvisor.net as the 1 club in the world), rounded off with a stop at the Dance Valley festival in Amsterdam this summer, Kyle is certainly prepared for the big things 2009 is already promising to bring.
Kyle's quick rise in the international dance scene is due to both his production prowess, and his explosive decks and effects DJ sets that bridge the divide between techno and minimal. Kyle is not a producer first, DJ second, but chooses to look at both aspects of DJ and production as a whole; one is not complete without the other.

Uncommon Forms
(aka Milkplant (http://www.from0-1.com/milkplant.html) & Sone (http://www.from0-1.com/brians_sone.html)) [From 0-1 (http://www.from0-1.com/)]
www.from0-1.com (http://www.from0-1.com)

Uncommon Forms is the DJ/Production duo comprised of From 0-1's label jocks, Milkplant & Sone. With 20 years of combined DJ experience, and a decade of production knowledge under their belts they have seen From 0-1 grow from an idea on paper to a full fledged, international techno label. With four releases strong whilst being prepared to launch their debut 12inch vinyl on the label at the end of 2009, the bar only continues to rise higher in the output of these two techno engineers. Uncommon Forms, the alias the two use when collaborating, embodies the Midwestern techno aesthetic they were raised on featuring big soundscapes, dramatic builds and breaks, and an everpresent psychadelic funk rarely experienced in the techno output of the Northwest. Seeing label support from all around the globe, From0-1 has received accolades and DJ support from luminaries such as Speedy J, Perc, Kyle Geiger, Drumcell, Audio Injection, Fine Cut Bodies, Bryan Zentz, Let's Go Outside, and Jerry Abstract. This is the sound to lose yourself in, the sound of release, the sound to help you let go of all trappings of the three dimensional plane. This is the sound of Uncommon Forms.

First off i would like to thank all of you who made it out to our very special private event last Friday night.
The sound was huge the space was great and the talent just killed it. Thanks again for coming out and supporting Knightriders
and Seattle Techno.

Up next we have Kyle Geiger off Adam Beyer's Drumcode label. Dude is quickly becoming the most critically acclaimed US Techno DJ/Producer to hit the
international market. Already having toured extensively with Adam Beyer and the rest of the Drum Code crew, Kyle Geiger makes his way to the NW for
his first ever DJ performance in Seattle. This dude is a must see. Absolutely one of the best damn techno Djs you will ever see.

Uncommon Forms (http://www.from0-1.com/)
Brian Sonnleitner, Logistics Manage
Justin Pennell, Label Director

Brian S/Sone
Brian’s first foray into music was drumming in various local punk-rock and ska bands growing up in Wisconsin. Consequently, he discovered electronic music, and after having Chris Liberator melt his mind late one August evening he recognized that it was to be his calling. After nine years of DJing techno in 2006, Brian relocated to Seattle and began producing music. His DJ sets push for the intense builds and disorientating breaks that are characteristic of techno, while maintaining the all-important element of danceability. The "Sone" moniker was born in 2008 as an outlet for production work, which ranges from ambient and dub to big room techno, the majority of his creations. Brian is also the co-owner of the From 0-1 studio and is the Logistics Manager for the budding label.

Milkplant

Milkplant is Justin Pennell of Seattle WA, From 0-1 label founder and director. In a post 9/11 nation enveloped in senseless fear, propaganda, and ego driven dogmatics, Justin seeks to use From 0-1 as a artistic platform to instill a greater sense of purpose and meaning in an increasingly stagnant and rotting national and world culture. Employing esoteric concepts and alchemic themes throughout his music, production techniques, and via the label platform; Justin seeks to merge the meaningless with the meaningful, the selfish with the selfless, the positive with the negative, the black with the white, the human with the machine, the zero with the one- all manifestations of the great eternal balance. His belief is that when a delicate balance is struck between dualistic concepts a greater reality emerges, illuminating a more meaningful direction in life. Digital culture has both connected and isolated humans simultaneously giving rise to more confusion and fear than confidence and knowing. He seeks to use this digital medium to merge these opposites and to strike a more refined balance, yielding a better understanding of our future while being keenly aware of our past. From 0-1 is a means to personal discovery urging the participant on to further understand one's relationship with our surrounding environment. Justin seeks to offer this platform to allow the participant to find within, the great mystery of existence necessary for all to eventually seek as an evolutionary milestone for further understanding of the universe and our ultimate role within.

Kyle Geiger – Under Pressure

Drumcode Records (http://www.drumcode.se/), Sweden
Catalog ID: DC37
Release Date: February 5, 2008

For all those people interested in where techno’s headed, Under Pressure will surely give you good conversation fodder, as it incorporates elements of pure techno with nods to the future. Under Pressure is Indiana’s Kyle Geiger (http://www.myspace.com/kylegeiger)’s debut release on Adam Beyer’s legendary Drumcode records. Kyle’s the first American to release on the label and Beyer’s chosen wisely as this EP will undoubtedly appeal to the various tastes around the world. The EP leans towards the darker side of the musical spectrum, incorporating some sinister low-end effects, propulsive bass and minor key progressions while also nodding its head to the more rhythmically interested denizens of the electronic scene. The EP is further complimented by two digital releases that will come out around the same time.

Tracks:
A1.) Pressure
Been to a big European party? No? Well, this is what you’d hear. Big whomping bass to fill the room with steady, relentless progression that doesn’t let go. This is pure, direct hitting techno with dark undertones that will lock the drifters down on the dance floor, or wrap people back in late at night.

A2.) Get Up
In need of a bit of a softer touch after that head banger? Get Up’s your answer. In this track Kyle explores his softer side incorporating subtle low end harmonies complimented with pings and atmospheric sounds. The track would fit nicely into the opening segment of any DJs set.

B1.) Outsider
Outsider is another big room, late night stormer with propulsive deep bass and minor chord progressions. The track starts with a pounding 4 to the floor beat with some textures, has a melodic break down and rolls into a double time bass line.

B2.) My Loss (Skoozbot (http://www.eightyeightdc.com/88blog/www.myspace.com/skoozbot)’s Gain Remix)
Put your headphones on for this one. The track’s got some serious, crisp percussive monkey business going on and breaks out into a butt wigglin good time. This track will surely get the lads and ladies poppin’ on the dance floor. It’s my favorite track on the album and you can understand why the original and another Skoozbot remix will be digitally released around the same time.

This Week's Noteworthy Shows and Parties

Saturday 9/12

Kyle Geiger, Uncommon Forms

(Re-bar) The artists on this bill offer a warehouse full of hard and heady techno. Local duo Uncommon Forms (Wisconsin émigrés Milkplant and Sone, who also run the excellent From 0-1 label) bring that Midwestern burliness to minimal techno's streamlined groove science. Indiana-based Kyle Geiger has earned support from banging-tekno magistrates like Drumcode label boss Adam Beyer and the savvy folks who book Berlin's Berghain club. His sets strike a motivational balance between the hard driving and the festively minimal, with strange textures and percussive accents festooning the uptempo kick/hi-hat action. Check out Geiger's mixes at www.kylegeiger.com (http://www.kylegeiger.com/) for a representative sampling of his exquisite taste and momentum building. DAVE SEGAL

Last night I come face to face with "Kyle", only its not Geiger to me, it's dancing late night smart techno dude I have known from Indiana via Detroit "Kyle". I think my mind was blown more than his as he starts rolling off details about me in front of a small group of our friends.
I am dumbfounded.

After discovering Chris & Ana he sits and speaks Deutsch with them for at least 45 minutes. NO ENGLISH.

Later at re-bar, alone with my one and only beer, after my bike ride & thinking I may see a few people come by, I am asked to the side walk.
Out under the street lamp between the door & bike rack is Kyle chatting up as lovely flower of a woman I have seen in a REALLY l o n g time.
A "pill box" hat with colored polka dots and and an all black one piece mini with black on black dots.
Sublime.
She is from "THE SOUTH" I am told as she greets me with the most delicate of lilting drawl as I have heard.
She commands a circle of probably 6 men and I throw in any attempt to talk to anyone in this circle or attempt to catch her name and residence again.
Kyle would still be questioning & entertaining her as I left about 1:50.

Today, after relaying this to the Klientele's Angel Lanis & Marea 4square Stamper's new recording compound in Kentucky they "wish they were here to hear & share this dough faced sweetie melt our faces" I read his blog @http://www.kylegeiger.com/.

My notions of tonight are challenged and yet completely based upon my days remaining choices and decisions.

The unfolding is thus far delicious and no one has gotten to the main course which will be served about midnight.

Enjoy

That is all.
