SPACETIME CONTINUUM Live (San Francisco)
Reflective Records / Astralwerks
Artist Page (http://www.dbfestival.com/?p=1647)
Jonah Sharp aka Spacetime Continuum played an important role during the 90’s in consolidating the global experimental ambient and techno scene through his Reflective Records imprint as well as releasing a string of solo studio albums on Astralwerks and Virgin Records . He has worked with many artists including a live album with writer and philosopher Terence McKennna, and collaborations with Mixmaster Morris, Haruomi Hosono of Yellow Magic Orchestra, Pete Namlook, Ursula Rucker, Move D, Tetsu Inoue and Bill Laswell to name but a few.
An Edinburgh, Scotland native, Sharp started his musical life as a drummer, briefly flirting with the late 80’s London acid jazz club scene as a session drummer. He soon realised the possibilities of a sampler and a drum machine as a solo performer. Excited by the sounds of Detroit techno, Chicago house and the electronic music that was coming from Europe, he started performing live and DJing at parties in London in 1989 and decided that chill- out or “other” room offered a lot of potential for realizing what he was trying to communicate musically.
He left London for America in 1992, settling in San Francisco, where he established his Reflective label and recorded the bulk of his work to date, split over a number of different project headings ( Emit Ecaps, Alien Community, Reagenz, Electro Harmonix and Strange Attractor). His most consistently visible work though has been as Spacetime Continuum, most of which was released by Astralwerks and Reflective.
He has performed live electronic music and Dj’d all over the world including a slot at the very first Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2000 curated by Carl Craig and on Mount Fuji in 1999 in front of 18,000 people during an insane torrential rain storm. He has remixed the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Meat Beat Manifesto and Matt Herbert and had his music in numerous movies including Darren Aronofsky’s 1998 movie” π ” .
More recently he has completed the soundtrack for the documentary “Consume This Movie !” and has spent time co-writing, co-producing and touring with The Global Drum Project, who include tabla player Zakir Hussein and Ex Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart. The album, “Global Drum Project” released in Oct 2007, has been nominated for a 2009 Grammy Award.
August 2008 saw him perform with Mixmaster Morris live on the main stage at The Big Chill in the UK playing songs from their upcoming collaborative project. Currently he is in a studio in San Francisco writing new solo Spacetime material, finishing work with Move D on the new REAGENZ album and gigging and writing material with Nigerian talking drum maestro Sikiru Adepoju.

GUNSHAE feat. Vanessa Stovall Live (Vancouver)
TKG Music
Artist Page (http://www.dbfestival.com/?p=1612)
gun-shy (gnsh) :adj.
1) Afraid of loud noise, such as that of gunfire.
2) Extremely distrustful or wary.
Gunshae is live ambience at its most beguiling. Gunshae is improvised laptop and live instrumentation. Gunshae is the Panambient project of Canadian dubstep pioneer James “Kuma” Graham and renowned Oboeist and DJ, Eve Mori. Gunshae is what happens when a classically trained musician and a notorious DJ with a pentiant for improvising, jam on the sound of stuff and things. It’s molten woodwinds and Satie references. It’s a heavy drones and show tunes played by a band sitting on a veranda after too many mint julips. It’s discrete music for the wifi generation. Every Gunshae recording is different. Every live performance is different. Fully improvised to the utmost extent. "When people jump through time, they give themselves up to the rhyme and reason of the heavens."

GEL-SOL Live (Seattle)
Upstairs Recordings / Psychonavigation Records / em:t
Artist Page (http://www.dbfestival.com/?p=1603)
Seattle’s Gel-Sol is producer/musician Andrew Reichel, whose dichotomous sound spans from ambient soundscapes to complex, rhythmic electronica, creating a dynamic psychedelic universe with heavy emphasis on improvisation. In 2004, Gel-Sol released the critically-acclaimed Gel-Sol 1104 (aka Music Made For You…And By You, I Mean Me.) on the UK’s cult ambient label Em:t Records. Gel-Sol’s follow-up album Unifactor continues the tradition of his unique, amorphous sound collages, and was released on Upstairs Recordings (Vancouver) in April 2007. Gel-Sol’s third album IZ, released by Upstairs/Psychonavigation in 2008, is an all-ambient excursion written for his niece, and is a bit of a departure from his previous two efforts. Andrew is also a member of the electronic group KIDS FOR TOMORROW, an improvisational trio focused on experimental ambient music.

SEICHE Live (Seattle)
Memex Recs
Artist Link (http://virb.com/seiche)
A seiche (pronounced /seɪʃ/, or approximately saysh) is a standing wave in an enclosed or partially enclosed body of water. Seiches and seiche-related phenomena have been observed on lakes, reservoirs, bays and seas. The key requirement for formation of a seiche is that the body of water be at least partially bounded, allowing natural phenomena to form a standing wave.

X41 Live (Vancouver)
Artist Link (http://www.myspace.com/xfourtyone)
X-41 is the non-linear ambient side project of Vancouver’s Square Root Of Evil, spawned in conjunction with the notorious PixelWrangler. Smoothing out the splattered 8-bit riddims of SROE, X-41 invokes a natural drift across a modern landscape of analogue dreams. If the glacial pace of the milky way could sing, it’d sound the tones of X-41.
