PHIL WESTERN Live (Vancouver, BC)
Innerflight / Subconscious Communications / Lens / The Record Company
Artist Page (http://www.dbfestival.com/?p=1972)
The musical career of Phillip Western has been a long and varied exploration of many styles of music. At the age of 19, he began to build a modest studio setup, and extremely long nights of obsessive programming became a normal everyday occurrence for the young producer, as well as a keen interest in the records that were coming out at the end of the acid house era, and into the first techno renaissance of the early 1990’s. It was during this time that Phil found himself releasing several albums, and EP’s with a variety of collaborators including Dan Handrabur, and Mike Kandel, in addition to being a key member of the Skinny Puppy side projects, Download & PlatEAU.
1997 saw the release of Phil’s first solo album, “The Escapist” to widespread critical acclaim. The record was recorded with the help of long time friend Tim Hill, combining a mixture of organic elements and techno rhythms that was a successful distillation of the numerous musical genres that had served as influences for Phillip and Tim. Two more solo albums (Dark Features & Worlds End) would follow in the next eight years as well as several Download and PlatEAU albums, and a new ambient project, Frozen Rabbit (w/ Tim Hill).
During the fall of 2006, Phil relocated himself to the Los Angeles area to work on new material with cEvin Key. In 2007 Phil & cEvin released the Download album “Fixer” and the PlatEAU album “Kushbush” which were widely received as some of their best material to date. Later, near the end of the year, Phil would release his fourth solo album, “4am”.
In 2008 Phil self-released the limited edition live recording “1221″, and the debut album “Cirrhotic Psychotic” from his new techno project Kone, followed by a second Kone album “On Daddy’s Farm” later that year, as well as two albums with Mark Spybey of Dead Voices on Air under the name “Beehatch”.
Phil went on to release the “Red Eyed Stalker EP” on Innerflight Music in early 2009, then a short break to move back to Vancouver. Most recently, Phil completed two more albums as Download & PlatEAU with cEvin Key and is continually working on new solo & collaborative material for his many musical endeavors.

NOVATRON Live (Seattle)
Innerflight / Space Island
Artist Link (http://www.dbfestival.com/?p=1950)
The sonic wizard that exists on this Earth as novaTRON is a designer of musical experience that defies all categorization. An animal like no other, novaTRON creates completely original beats that are improvised on the fly on the Tron Box, a self-constructed constellation of audio hardware that includes KORG's EMX, 2 x ESX, 2 x KP3, Koassilator, and a Roland SP404. The music born from the marriage of the mind of a mad scientist and the Tron Box is a sonic reality twisted into a science of experimentation that combines to form an aural experience that can only be lived in the present.
In early 2009 novaTRON released his debut studio track, "The Heist" as part of Innerflight Music's Left Coast Sampler EP, and has since been deep in the studio crafting his debut LP, The Elemental Spectrum (also to be released on Innerflight).
A veteran of the summer festival circuit, novaTRON's live sets capture the ephemeral nature of art and existence and strap it down with a thick layer of bass before letting it go on it's way out to the world and into your body. novaTRON is a master of the moment who continues to push the limits of electronic music with each and every new set.

GEL-SOL Live (Seattle)
Innerflight, Upstairs, Psychonavigation
Artist Link (http://www.dbfestival.com/?p=1603)
Seattle’s Gel-Sol is producer/musician Andrew Reichel, whose dichotomous sound spans from ambient soundscapes to complex, rhythmic electronica, creating a dynamic psychedelic universe with heavy emphasis on improvisation. In 2004, Gel-Sol released the critically-acclaimed Gel-Sol 1104 (aka Music Made For You…And By You, I Mean Me.) on the UK’s cult ambient label Em:t Records. Gel-Sol’s follow-up album Unifactor continues the tradition of his unique, amorphous sound collages, and was released on Upstairs Recordings (Vancouver) in April 2007. Gel-Sol’s third album IZ, released by Upstairs/Psychonavigation in 2008, is an all-ambient excursion written for his niece, and is a bit of a departure from his previous two efforts. Andrew is also a member of the electronic group KIDS FOR TOMORROW, an improvisational trio focused on experimental ambient music.

NERD REVOLT Live (Seattle)
Innerflight / From 0-1
Artist Page (http://www.dbfestival.com/?p=1966)
After years of being angst-ridden hermits, m.0 and the iLL.F.O. (Catherine Jade) met and started creating mad nuclear experiments in the studio. Both classically trained musicians, they each bring a unique style and sound to the mix. Along with sharing an unhealthy obsession with synths, they believe in bringing a raw and honest vibe to electronic music (peep the realness at: www.dejaded.com).
Their joint arsenal is a formidable one, consisting of 2 laptops with Ableton Live, hardware and software synths, plugins, MIDI controllers, and tons of sound-mangling weapons that are currently aimed at a new remix of m.0's solo track, "Lift Us Up" and an EP of their latest creations, both coming out on Innerflight Music.
Combining the precision of their studio work with the spontaneity of a band, Nerd Revolt’s performances feature live synths and vocals, beats dropped and manipulated on the fly, and a whole lotta punk rock attitude. It’s 2009 motherfuckers, and the future is now.
