Just got up about 10 minutes ago. Hadn't been out to a party in a while but had a kickass time last night. Met a whole lot of new people, saw a lot of old friends I haven't seen in a long time. Music was great, stage setup was nice, the whole vibe of the party was good. My ears are still ringing from dancing next to the speakers at every stage all night. I was walking around with my light-up weed shirt, which people seemed to enjoy =) Big props to Russell for the party and look forward to attending next year as well.

-GREAT vibe! Everyone seemed to be loving, happy, and taking care of each other. So happy to see that!!
-Horrible litter... Wow. I hope Russell has a great cleanup crew because the whole party was trashed :( Even with the thoughtful addition of garbage cans everywhere.
-LOVED the lights, and all the music played was great!!
-The sound could have been better, though....
-I heard there was a guy who had hypothermia, is he okay? Is he the same guy that apparently ran into the forest and disappeared? I hope he/they are all right....

Thanks for having me out Russell, I had a blast and can't wait for next year. I'll post more once I've gotten some sleep
g'morning campers!
I had a blast at this year's WLB, as expected, and this time the party appeared much better organized than some previous ones... overall, many PacNW events have been getting better and better lately... my only complaint is that sound was kinda lacking, and quiet, but I think that may have been related to some power supply issues they were having... a few unexpected sprinkles also delayed the event a bit in the beginning to allow time to cover and rearrange the gear, but it didn't even touch the positive spirit of the party crowd... there were numerous other attractions, eye candy, vending, artists' booths, and sure plenty of colorful ravers to look at... tons of people showed up, with a steady line of cars rolling in during the first part of the night... on that note, rolling out was a different story, as there were a few minor accidents, a car needing to be pulled out of a ditch, and a bimmer that missed a 25mph turn and wrecked into a tree on the way back (hope its occupants are allright)... also some cops showed up around 11p, but they didn't bother nobody and promptly took off just a few minutes later...
at the party everyone seemed to be really enjoying themselves, there was always lots of people getting down to the music, especially on 'house' and 'breaks' stages, and folks looked like they were genuinly enjoying themselves, quite a few were still dancing long after the daylight hit, which usually is a sign of a good party... the music was great throughout the night and often it was hard to chose which stage I wanted to be at... my top 3 dj highlights of the night were Flave, Frankie, and Jimni, who all are always great performers, I also enjoyed sets from Lea Luna (although I couldn't tell if she was lip-syncing), Muchee (never heard before, thanks for the cd), Sence, Channel Surfer, Big Daddy Scamp, Beefer, Rise, Ekim, and a few other folks that I don't know the name of... thank you for dropping the ill beats for us to groove to, thanks to all the ravers who came out to shake their booties, thanks to Russell and Co, and everyone else who made this event happen!!! I will be looking forward to another one next year :) cheers!

yo this is just a first response post i will get more in depth later first let me say thanks to Russell and every one who helped out i had a blast playing the crowd and vibe was thick i really did not get to enjoy too much of the party as i was consumed with trying to make sure everything was sounding good on our new sound system i hope it sounded good for everybody sorry for the dead air when my mixing board died but whateves so yeah all and i repeat all of the drum and bass and dubstep DJ's murdered it cereal killer style nut my fav set of the night goes to PROPURLUV and ronin \ (http://www.myspace.com/propurluv)
haha she gets top billing on that sheet my white ninja
yo my camera is crap did any one get any photos of the dnb stage i needs them
so that's it for now more later
Thanks again Russell for the booking, good looking out. I'm down to play at your events anytime next time maybe i'll even finish playing lol
Mother natures early evening light show was amazing (although dangerous for equip.) I could have done without the rain, but I got over it.
Props to the guys who busted ass putting up a covering over the Main stage (sorry can't remember your names)
Lea Luna kicked ass! I'm glad she ended up playing the main stage. The tracks she produced are amazing, I always enjoy a pretty girl DJ busting out in song during her set too.
I also enjoyed sets from Lea Luna (although I couldn't tell if she was lip-syncing)
I'm pretty sure the tracks already have her singing on them, she just sang over them.
I didn't stage surf to much I was stuck steppin and grooving all night, totally impressed with how many different styles of house were represented last night.
People were diggin the house in mass! truly an great site to see everyone dancing ALL NIGHT!
I feel sorry for the people waiting in line to get in, I saw that line down the dirt road and on the main road. PHEW!
Lots more to say but I'm not trying to write a novel......I think "GOOD TIMES" about sums is up!

This was my favorite Where Life Begins so far. I had a blast. (especially after I managed to grab a shower when everything was set up.)
The vibe on the main stage (where I was, most of the night) was consistently good.
There's nothing like watching 100s of people act like everything's just fine as thunder and lightning ravage the countryside and rain comes through in waves for a bit. Oregon knows how to party!
Big thanks to ILYA, CJ and Rob (Infinity6) for helping me coordinate some things. And thanks for having me out again Russell! I'm now on vacation. ;)

havent been to WLB in a few yrs
WELL HOLY CRAP
venue was great, the tiers were awesome...standing behind the houses deck overlooking the main stage...lights, lazers, ravers YELLING all crazy...
great vibe, real thick...was happy to be apart of this event
thank you russel for lettin me drop some crazy on the hardcore stage
now we just need to rewire things less complicated so plugs dont get undone
less caffiene and more protein would've made my night a lot better, but all around i loved the weather...helped cool down after dancing and getting hot
i got some photos and video before all my batteries died
didnt take too much as i was too busy trying to soak up the scene and groovin to all the stages
will upload them later
shout to mark, mat, anni, muchee, adam, betti, lance, linda, sondr, steph, mitchel, john, julie, everyone randomly i met throughout the evening, that hardcore kid with the scarf lovin every 180+ beat, and the tall guy in the red shirt that gave me props for playing 'real hardcore' biggups

:D~TANK U W.L.B. '09!~:D
I havent had a better time or a harder dance since I was about 16!!!
I saw old friends, made new ones, made out with a sweet-heart (Tnx inrcity!! *wink*):p
I danced my soul out and my legs off, lived and loved in the Now, got safely waisted, and even got out of the parking lot alive!!
Not to mention the beautiful and compleatly unexpected, yet appropriate Thunder storme that lit the skies and challanged the bass all night, with hardly any rain!!
The only thing that sucked was that I had bought one of the $15 limited tickets weeks ago, but Forgot to Bring It!!
*dee-dee-deeee*:(
Oh well, perfection is imperfect anyways!! LOL!
Thank You Russ and ALL "hands" at deck for this show!! It realy turned out to be just what I needed!!!
:p~Love to All~:p

:DThanks Russ for having me out and well done my man! Ended up playing for an hour and a half on the dnb stage and had a blast doing it! Got there a little bit later than I would have liked but I had to wait for Sammy to remember how to play vinyl before we left (lulz).... Thanks Taz for bringing the boom, can't wait to hear that sound with all the spaeakers hooked the fuck up! Dope spot, great vibes, the only thing is that I seemed to miss a lot of the homies in the cut (nikon, sondr) but I think its cause it was already pitch dark when I got there. Lazers were off the chain as were the visuals on the main stage.

This was my 1st WLB! I promised Russell I would make it this year...
My original ride and 2nd ride fell thru, and in classic nwtekno collaboration, I found Rachel's carpool post on the event thread. It was great to meet you, and no surprise that we have many friends in common: you said you were looking forward to seeing Bear, Ashanti, and Taz... rite on.
I had such a good time wandering and dancing! It was cool seeing a lot of friends...
and HUGGz to the people I saw, but didn't get to say hi to.
I took some pics w/ my phone (sorry they're blurry). Hopefully, someone has nice pics and videos to share!

To start, what a location! I had not been to Triangle Lake for over five years. Last time it was for a party that was closer to the lake. Saturday night was almost unbelievable. I couldn't tell you how many people where in attendance, but it had to be over 1500 people. It was the place for lots of shenanigans and great memories to happen. Over Friday night, Saturday morning and afternoon; after helping do setup with people I just met, I took some peoples and my party down to the River where there is a nature rock slide and cliffs to jump from. We had to get the sweat off of us! If you missed it, ouch! If not, it was just another reason to make the best weekend possible. Which is exactly what happened. The fifth weekend in a row, parting in the NW outdoors and they just keep getting better. However, this topped the list of summer parties I've gone to this year. I don't know if I'll see another party this big in the NW for the rest of the summer. If not, Russell, this was one damn great party to end the summer weather with!
With all my heart, THANK YOU RUSSELL!
@ My brother Scott
Watching those lightning storms in the parking lot for several hours with you was perfect. I'm really glad you decided to come to the party with me. It had been several years since you came with me to one. You may never know just what a great feeling it is when I can get one of my sibs to come to the outdoor parties with me. Thanks for coming brother, hope you made some good friends!
@ CJ.
Thanks for asking if I would help set up some stages, it was fun. Will help again any time!
I believe I left some Ironclad workman gloves around the main stage, after setting it up. They are now yours to use if you found them!
@ Hukt On Wax. WTF, no show?
Thought you said you where going to attend? I'll see you soon anyways.
If you come down on the 24th, you'll most definitely have a place to crash before the show!
@ Kacey, Cris & Mike.
We need to hook up and kick it. I got Kacey's and Cris's numbers. I'll call soon!
Always good to see you guys!
@ Brandon and Phillip.
Now that I know you guys live in Portland, we'll get together soon.
Hopefully you guys come out to "Back to School", like I told you too!
@ Tabby and Kyle.
I almost hit the ground when I saw you guys show up.
Than I was sad when I could not find you guys all night to smoke and make some laughs.
However, I'm sure I'll see you two in the next week, so no worries. I would have really felt
bad though if we lived in two separate towns and that would have been the only occasion to see you.
We need to hang before BTS on the 25th!
@ KES
Two Marks don't make a right... See you at the next show bud.
Glad I finally got to have quality conversation time with you Mark.
The laser set up in staff camp was the best view of the hole party,
to bad the staff toilet that Kelly, Earl and I drug up the hill got trashed.
Like you stated, "we need a 'DJ only' combination lock on the toilet"! Great Idea Mark!
I'm buying one just for this reason and will start loaning it out at all parties I'm at, just for that use.
@ Kelly's Love Cafe
Great food! Earl was slammin orders all night for hungry ravers. That man is a grill GOD!
Anyone who got an order off him most likely saw Earl flipping utensils everywhere with grace and ease.
Hope you all liked those Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches Earl made. He worked very hard to fill our hungry raver stomachs!
Thank you Earl, hope I got you back to Portland in time for you to take a small nap before you had to be at work.
@ Nick, breakfast was super delicious. Thanks man!
@ Sam. Your help in the kitchen really helped Earl and Nick kick out orders quickly. We are very thankful for your help assisting them. From me, Thank you, See you soon, like a day or two!
@ Kelly. THANK YOU for bringing the kitchen set-up. The party would not have been same, for me, without you and Kelly's Love Cafe. Jessica sends her deepest appreciation for the Spaghetti!
@ Taz, Bear & Dextros(rockin since the early 90's).
Your guys new sound is 'off the hook'(fucking loud). Hope to hear it more when I go out.
Regardless of your new sound, it's always good to see you three, no matter where it is!
We'll have to meet at Sewickley's soon. A BIG THANK YOU for bringing Tina and John.
I had not seen them for over a year and it was one of the many great moments at the party getting to hang with people
I've not seen in Portland since work keeps me busy.
@ Tina & John, you have my number, give me a call!
@ Dextros, I'll flip you my number over -FB-. We need to kick it before B.T.S.
@ Monkey & Beefer.
It's hard to put into words the fun you guys can make up at any given moment, other then,
'[i]certainly enjoyable company to be around, as long as you don't have low-self-esteem'!
I've been sitting here trying to remember your friends name with the blond hair and I'm pissing myself off
cause I should remember his name. For some reason I keep thinking Shraider even though I said his name multiple times Saturday night. Fuck I'm stupid!
Leave me a PM when you guys know your going to be in the Portland area.
Jesus Saves!
@ Jessica Mitchell
That was some good times, rolling around the party together for hours!
Something tells me we used to party together before you moved out of state in 97-98.
We both thought of each other as very familiar faces when we first met at the party.
If we don't see each other for a long time to come, you'll always be in my thoughts!
Hope your flight home is smooth, take care! -FB-(Mark Allen)
@ Russell.
Holy fuck man, what a party! You came up to me Sunday afternoon, put your arm around me and asked who I was. I told you my name is Mark and told you how applicative I am for your efforts on making this party happen. You told me "Thank you" for what you said you saw me doing Friday night and Saturday morning, (e.g. creating the staff camp and restroom area, setting up trash bins(with help from Kelly and my brother Scott), picking up trash, helping set up several staging areas, checking and helping on downed(over done) ravers-[which Jessica Mitchell should get BIG credit for. She help out quiet a few ravers who were having troubles. She was getting people water and blankets. Even gave a guy having troubles her sweatshirt off her back. A very nice woman to know]-. That comment from you made my morning. It was unfortunate I had to leave to get someone back to Portland or I would have stayed and cleaned up the hole mess with everyone who helped afterward, but that didn't stop me from picking up trash while I was in attendance. Can't wait to go to another party thrown by you and your friends, hopefully that is sooner than later. Until then, take care Russell.
And once again, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR YOUR EFFORTS IN MAKING THIS WEEKEND A BLAST.
Mark-
More to come, if anything that sticks out pops into my head.

Big Ups to Russell. Davery, Montsde and I had fun doing sound for the Trance/Electro stage. It worked out well moving the dubstep and dnb to Taz's system. Taz it sounded great over there. I ende up playing techno for about an hour and 1/2 or so. Some DJs didn't make it for their set I guess. The site was awesome. Great place to throw a party. Some of the stages got a late start but by midnight all was going good. We got lucky with the weather even though it rained it was a gentle rain and it never got too chilly. Hope everyone had a good time and made it home safely.

Wow, great party. It was a lot of work for CJ and myself, just waking up from the whole ordeal now...
Amazing party, great turnout, I'm glad everybody liked my stages - thanks for all the compliments. I just wish the weather report I saw was accurate - it said no rain all weekend, so I used an 'open air' design for the main stage.
I took a lot of pics, but I need to go through them. For now, here's one of [edited to say] Roman Zawodny ....

Russel! What a great job and total success! I had so much fun. Everyone who worked to make this happen really came through. Big ups to the sound crew for being on top of everything. Glad I got to see some old faces too.
First time ever playing outdoors and it was AWESOME. I LOVED the DNB/Dubstep and Trance/Electro stages. The drizzle was perfect for keeping the dust down and the lightning was SICK!

There where so many different beats going on during the lightning... Did the thunder ever sync up with the music momentarily?
Just curious.
Also, ya know what's ironic? I had my laser and projectors etc plugged into house power to avoid generator-related issues, then this thunder storm comes along and shuts my gear off anyway, sparing the audio and lights. I found this amusing.

For now, here's one of Frankie....

This was an unforgettable event. There was so much great music I had trouble deciding which stage to spend my time at.
Wingnut: Glad I could meet you. It was fun talking to you on the ride down and back, even though we didn't see much of each other most of the night.
Matt and mikayla: You guys are awesome. Me and everyone I came with had a great time hanging out with you guys.
The guy in the gold/purple mask: Thank you for the light shows. You blew my mind.
Cody (I think): I showed you where the glow stick booth was. Thanks for buying me those fireworks glasses. I held on to them all night. They were a blast.
Everyone else: You all amazed me. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I didn't see one person with a bad attitude or out of control. It was wonderful spending 12 hours with some of the most amazing people around.
I will definitely be back next year.

That was the dopest party I've ever been to. What can I say. Amazing vibes from everybody, amazing lighting and lightning, and loads of nasty beats all night and into the morning! My only regret is not meeting more people and checking out more music.

Does anyone know a girl named Sharane (sp?) from Eugene? I let her borrow my hoodie while I was playing and I lost track when I got off the decks. Any help would be greatly appreciated, it's my favorite hoodie. PM me if you know her and I'll shoot you my telephone number to give to her.

Great to have another Bangin WLB. I made the trip all the way up from Sacramento to help out for this show, well worth it.
As some know due to the lack of power from a busted Generator, our stage got set up a bit late on top of the rain delay. Once we got going though the show went great.
Thanx and shouts to:
-Mark (KES) for loaning our stage those cables.
-Chris/Matt and everyone who helped set up Lighting.
-Russel for yet another wicked show.
-All my oldskool E-town/P-Town hommies who i got to see again.

i had a really super fun time at this party! i've never been to WLB before, but my boy penpointred was playing at the hardcore stage this time. we spent most of the night there, but definitely wandered about a bit as well. the setup of all the stages was really sweet and i liked how they were all on different levels of the property. i liked the music best at the HC and dnb stages, but that's just my preference. ;)
it's been a long summer of event-throwing (kind of a new thing for me :) ... so it was pretty dope to just go all out on the party tip and not have to worry about any of the organizing. but, this summer has definitely given me more perspective on all the work that goes into putting events like these together. HUGE THANK YOUS to everyone who was a part of putting this event together. russell you should do it again next year!!!
i agree that the vibe of the party seemed very positive... especially for an outdoor party of this size. i was feeling really friendly (wink wink*) and had fun chatting with lots of new peeps and old friends alike.
the lightning and rain on the way there was intense and worrisome, so i was sO glad when the rain seemed to be at a minimum all night. the weather behaved for the rest of the weekend... we even went and kicked it at triangle lake on sunday before heading home.
i also agree with wingnut... the trash in the morning was atrocious! there were trash bins at every stage, so there is no excuse for that amount of litter you guys! maybe the eugene ravers still need to learn the 'leave no trace' philosophy! :D (ok i think i might have accidentally dropped a glowstick on the ground ;) )
one other thing too::: did anyone pick up a grey and black soft canvas cooler from the hardcore stage in the morning??? when we went back to get it, it was gone. (thanks for leaving us our hummus though lol. :p ) that cooler was a gift from my poppa so i would really love to get it back... hopefully someone just picked it up cause they thought we forgot about it?
MUCH LOVE everyone. PLUR!!!! :D :) :D :)

You should probably know the whole story first. She attacked my wife and I on 3 seperate occasions that night. The first being around 1030ish, I was putting my records back in my car then went to take a piss, she then grabbed my dick and she kept charging at me. I then side stepped and she tripped into the passenger side mirror of our car and bent it, she then punched me in the face, even tho there was about 4 or 5 people that told her that I did no such thing, that she smacked her head on the car. Then around 4am-430am she came and dove into the car, passenger side where I was sitting, and started punching me, I was able to get her off of me. She then punched me in the kidneys, which dropped me to the ground. I was in the hospital the night before the show because of my kidneys and almost had to miss the show, she knew it was a sore spot. She then sat on top of me punching me and kneeing me in the chest, which i had to go get xrays for. I had one arm under the car, and my right shoulder doesnt have the ability to bend in a way to push up from the ground while on my back. I was able to finally get ahold of her hand and bite a couple fingers to get her off. My wife then walked over to her and showed her my glasses and told her that she needed to replace them. She then pulled my wife by the hair, threw her to the ground, and started to punch the shit out of her. She was pissed cuz she wanted to fuck some random raver in the back of our car and tried to use the excuse "i wanted food". Well the car was unlocked the whole time we were next to it, and told her if she was hungry she could grab whatever, or could just wake us and we will get something for her. Yeah, like we are going to give a drunk bitch the only keys to our car in the middle of nowhere. Especially when she's running around half naked, drunker than shit, and had been up all night the night before doing drugs with some random guy. But back to what happened, I pulled her off of my wife and kept telling her to go away, to go listen to some music and calm down cuz she was worked up over nothing. She then came at me again and socked me in the face a few times, I finally got her on the ground and she kept throwing punches. Well there were sharp objects all around us and I feared that with as fucked up as she was, and who knows WHAT she was on, that she may come after my wife or myself with a sharp object. I had to make a self defense call to end it right then and there. So I had to use self defense. I have already filed my police report and she has 2 counts of assault 4, along with criminal mischief in the 2nd degree, coming her way. Even the police I've spoken to have read both of our reports. They are saying their opinion is self defense. Hers is extremely choppy and she doesnt even remember half the shit she did, nor does she care to listen to anyone trying to tell her what she did. Tho she did admit to attacking my wife and drinking alot. She was my best friend for almost 6 years, and those that know us know just how close her and I really were. I wouldnt just hit my bestfriend for NOTHING. She attacked me multiple times and I blew it off, but when she had my wife on the ground and my wife couldnt get up, I did what ANY husband would do, and that's pull the person off of my wife. Then the person comes swinging at me for doing so. It's a fucked up and shitty situation, and it deeply saddens me that our friendship had to end in such a way. We even had to get 2 restraining orders on her and take our kids to our friends home for a few days while she got her stuff in fear of her, her family, or her friends causing drama here at our place. And it's a good thing that we did, because that's exactly what happened when they showed up an hour and a half early to pick up her stuff, when she knew I had told her that she needed to have a police escort here. When we left we made sure she had all of her stuff, including her wallet. We didnt just ditch her down there. And after seeing her today, she isn't nearly as banged up as she's trying to claim. Everything I did was out of self defense, and we have the defensive bruises to prove it. We have pictures, we have witnesses, and we have restraining orders against her. I told her that all I wanted was an apology for her behavior because I knew that she was drunk. And since her memory is spotty, and doesnt remember much, she's choosing to press charges on myself as well. This isnt the first time she's blacked out, a couple months ago she was so drunk that she ended up at our next door neibours place because she couldnt remember which place was ours. The charges against her are going to stick, she admitted to attacking my wife. I'm sure I could be charged for assault as well, which she's trying to, but as it's looking, the more witnesses I have to attest the fact that I was trying to avoid a fight with her as much as I could until I had no other choice, and the fact that they heard it as well. She just wouldn't calm down, and wasnt able to be restrained. I wish just restraining her would've defused the situation. But those who know Hillary know that she can get pretty crazy when drinking. Hell none of us are perfect. And most of us have learned our lessons in fucking up. She's never had to get a real taste of the real world, hopefully this will be somewhat of a wake up call, and she will stop drinking as much.
I truely hope that she gets the help that she needs. You all can talk as much shit as you want, but I had to make a decision as a husband defending his wife, and I held off until the very last possible point, because I was trying to avoid confrontation, and even have witnesses that are speaking to the deputy about it as well.
Aside FROM THAT DRAMA....
My Wife and I had alot of fun at the show! Throwing down my new core was alot of fun, and people seemed to really dig it. ANGERFIST!!!! Met a nice guy named Zell that tagged along with my wife and I most of the night, and got to see alot of old friends I havent seen in years. The party went pretty smoothly, with the exception of the hardcore stage and it's lack of power, but we pulled through and rocked that shit like the hardcore stage ALWAYS does!!!
I did what I had to do to defend my wife and self. I even have witnesses that heard us yelling at her to leave us alone and to get off of us. Funny that no one did anything while she was beating others, they just stood by and watched. Our stories filling all of the blanks that hers is missing, AND we have witnesses. So before anyone starts going off about the situation, you really should try and find out the whole fucking thing instead of jumping to conclusions. I wouldnt just go after my best friend for nothing. Yeah, I had to hit my best friend, I'm not proud of it, but the well-being of my wife was my only concern at that point of time.
Love ya Russell, ya did another great job this year. Hit me up asap buddy. :)

Seriously. At Fire, security allegedly pulls a gun on you and sends you through thickets in
some sort of pseudo boot-camp hazing stunt, then at WLB, some girl is such a threat to you, a
heavyset GUY, and you find it necessary to use physical force against her? Regardless of the
circumstances, you know how these things look in court...
You just don't hit girls. It never works out in the end. (I suppose if there were like 10 neutral
witnesses to you being physically attacked by like 4 women at the same time, you could justify
smacking a couple of them down, but still, do you want to have that on your resume?)
One more thing: CUT UP YOUR DAMN POSTS INTO SMALLER PARAGRAPHS! Really though!

Post them up there folks!
The Review
This was my second year doing visuals at WLB, and my first ever doing the visuals on 4 stages for a single event. Got there a day early, knowing CJ and I would be working our asses off to make this party happen. Firday night was amazing weather - I hadn't seen the Milky Way galaxy in such splendor as I did on Friday night, possibly ever. Certainly not in the last 5 years. Git Down crew had their stage bumping by the time we got there, and I was so looking forward to the light show in the sky continuing on until Saturday. I should have checked the weather report again.
We finally had everything up and running about the time it started raining. I was still running around in my shorts with no shirt. That rain felt SO good on my back! But of course, the work wasn't over at that point like I thought it would be - now we had to erect some kind of canopy over the tables on the main stage, and do it on the fly with what we had around. Argggh, not fun for me. I left if up to the sound crew, and have to hand them props for getting it done so the show could go on. And I am a "the show must go on" kind of guy...
A few beers and bowls later, and I was finally enjoying the party!!!
So I have a whole lot of people to thank. At the top of the list, Russell. Dude, I love ya. And also Russ and Jan, the property owners. We have been very lucky to throw this party at the same venue two years in a row.
Next up, CJ, my right hand man. I can't run Infinity6 all by myself like in the old days, and I can't think of a better guy to have on my team. Love you too, dude!
Laser Dudes:
Jonathan (Platinum Graphics) it's been great knowing you and working together over 2 years now, and I think everybody would agree that the main stage was the best team effort we've done yet.
Mark (K.E.S. Lasers) It was great to finally meet you. Didn't know how much we have in common. I forgot to give you my card, but we can get in touch here on NWT.
To all the sound crews, you guys all BUMPED it. And to the sound crew on the main stage, thanks for putting up with me during those couple moments there
And MAJOR PROPS to the Git Down crew doing the breaks stage - You guys were totally self-contained, your sound rocked it, your lights were on point, and your emergency tarp added a whole new dimension to outdoor parties in the rain!
And a very special thanks to Top Notch Lighting. And congratulations are in order. Funny story, kinda.
See, Russell hired us both to do this party. Jim accepted the job, kinda slightly sorta forgetting one minor detail - he was getting married that same day. Doh! So Jim and I worked it out that I'd work with both his lighting gear and mine to get all the lighting covered on the 4 stages. Then Jim showed up later at WLB! Dude, aren't you supposed to head right out to the honeymoon after the wedding to get on with honeymoon business?
Anyway, thanks Jim, and Congratulations to Jim and Stephanie, the only attendees at WLB that got married that same day!
I had a great time this year, and am looking forward to making next year's WLB even better!!!!
OK people, time to post some video.
And can we please keep the drama down, or gone from this review thread, PLEASE?

I dont see how someone else drinking to the point of blacking out and attacking my wife, and myself, how that is in any way remotely MY fault. It's not like I'm happy that this happened, she was my best friend and roommate, and everyone that knows her and I know that I wouldnt just "go after her". She got beligerently drunk and decided to start attacking my wife and I. I was having a blast at the show at the core stage. Then went back down to the car and was attacked. Maybe the person that got drunk and attacked us should take a good look in the mirror.
It's in the hands of the law now, I'm not going to cloud up an event review with pages of bullshit, when in all reality, the people who are witnesses to what they saw her doing and heard us telling her to stop and go away know who they are, and are giving their stories to the police as well. It's sad a friendship had to end like this. And as for that crap at Fire, that's being dealt with by the police as well. So unless youre involved in the situation that happened, you should probably just stay out of it. I'm sorry this had to happen at WLB, but she decided to get drunk and out of control. And anyone that knows hillary knows that she's not just some tiny ass girl that is weak and helpless. I applied the proper amount of self defense and nothing more, and even the police see that. I've said my piece, continue with the bullshit I'm sure some of you will fill the event review up with.

Totally impressed. Lights were totally off the hook, crowd control was good, people were fed, hydrated, and happy all around. All the stages were nicely populated with rad people, especially enjoyed the hardcore stage and the DnB action.
Last year was great (my first wlb), but this year felt more like a festival than a 'rave'. High fives to Russell. You should do two days next year.

Got to the show early to help set up and etc before the "storm hit" Relativity speaking, and didnt leave till about 11:30 12:00 in the afternoon.Got to help out with lights and stuff for the hardcore area, meet some new people, mike"the tall guy" and sammie"with the monkey".Party time the first set i enjoyed was adams hardcore set and thankyou for the angerfist,as it was much needed.Walked around for a little bit and meet some cool kids from washington, ran into some of my old school party kids from back in the day...you all know who you are.Continuing with the walking around went to the main stage and Roman smashed the main stage good shit dood.My friend and i were behinde the main stage for a few(the kid with the black and white dc hat?) and had got the chance to talk with lea luna for a bit and what a nice chick and very rad too,the northwest loves to have you.Got to shake Frankie bones hand and what a cool guy he is!! that was a big part of my night.Oh and walking back to the ride home in the morning i got to meet flave i think it was and hung out for a bit before i went to go clean for a few before i went home, and boy oh boy was it messy.
*shout outs* in no particualr order

Oh what a weekend and I have been working no stop since I got home so i have had a chance to say thanks to every one who got a chance to rock out during my set on the electro stage. I was amazed there was like 2 people when I started then by the end of my second track i looked up and there was like 200, I was blown away.
Even though the whole stage change mix up I was glad my girl Lea Luna got to play the main stage for eveyrone. Instead playing right before Lea I ended up getting to play an extra which was fun, so all in all good times.
Thanks again Russell, glad I was able to help you get Frankie here for you and booking Lea as well, what a great party and can't wait to top it next year.

Yshow becasses wife then walkewhile on my b WHAT she wa and bite a couple fingerg around half naked, drunker than shit, and had been up all night the night before doing drugs with some random guy. But back to what happened, I pulled her off of my wife o listen to some music and calm WHAT she wap over nothing. She then came at me again and socked mble to get her off of me. She then punched me in the kidneys, which dropped me to the ground. I was in the hospital the night before the show because of my kidneys and almost hs, I finally got her on the ground and she kept throwing punches. Well there were sharp objects all around us and I feared that with as fucked up as she was, and who knows WHAT she was on, that she may come after my wife oras unush up from the ground while on my back. I was able to finally get ahold of her hand and bite a couple omething for her. Well there were sharp objects all around us and I feared that with as fucked up as she was, and who knows WHAT she was on, that she may come after my wife oras unush up from the ground while on my back. I was able to finally get ahold of her hand and bite a couple fingers to get her off. My wife then walked over to her and showed her my glasses and told her that sone trying to tell her what she did. Tho she did admit to attacking my wife and drihe ground, and started to punch the shit out of her. She was pissed cuz she wanted to fuck some random raver in the back of our car and tried to use the excuse "i wanted food". Well the car was unlocked the whole time we were next to it, and told her if she was hungry she could grab whatever, or could just wak her hand and bite a couple fingers to get her off. Tho she did admie after mand told her that sone trying to tell her what she did. Tho she did admit to attacking my wife and drihe ground, and started to punch the shit out of her. She was pissed cuz she wanted to fuck some random raver in the back of our car and tried to use the excuse "i wanted food". Well the car was unlocked the whole time we were next to it, and told her if she was hungry she could grab whatever, or could just wak her hand and bite a on 3 seperate occasions that night. The first being around 1030ish, I was putting my records back in my car then went to take a piss, she then grabbed my dick and she kept charging at me. I then side stepped and she tripped into the passengeknew it was a sore spot. She t looking, the more witnesses I have to attest the fact that I was trying to avoid a fight with her aas unthose who know Hillary know that she can get pretty crazy when drinking. Hell none of us are perfect. And most of us have learned our lessons in fucking up. She's never had to get a real taste of the real world, hopefully this will be somewhat of a wake up call, and she will stop drinking as much.

Big props to Russel and the folks who owned the property. If I owned a forest thats exactly what I'd do too, share it! Sorry about the trash. I did see people doing litter sweeps and I made sure to pick up my camp. Thanks to J Renegade for giving us a killer sunrise set at the main stage.

What a great party tho. We took off Friday night to make sure we got there early on Sat and damn was that a good call. I couldn't believe it when I saw it was 4am and the cars were still rolling in! It was really cool how the stages were right in this families backyard. I hope no one fucked with any of their personal property.
So many amazing DJs, awesome ravers, kindhearted people, and bangin production staff. Big thanks to everyone who attended and made it such a sweet atmosphere! I had so much fun I can't believe it was only one night, it felt like a full weekend festival!

I had planned for this being my last rave EVAAR, I decided ten years was enough raving, but if there is a WLB next year, I'll probably go.
At some point, a lot of us feel like we should stop partying, for whatever reason it may be. I dropped out of partying in 2005. I was trying to get license and bonded, so that was taking lots of my time getting the money together and saving for more tools. The hole time I was absent, my heart yearned to go to more outdoor gatherings. I worked hard toward my goal and made it! I felt comfortable enough in my savings and goal completion that I felt it was time again to start partying-HARD-, just as before. So I jumped back in this year, I do not regret it as the last six weekends have been the time of my life. It started right before fire and went every weekend, right up to this weekends party, Rabitstail. That would be my sixth party weekend in a row. I don't think I had ever done this much partying, ever! Than again, I can't really remember a time in the past were there was a party in the woods every weekend for two months straight. So I took advantage of the good weather, time off work and a little extra money to support my camping needs, while always bringing enough food to help out some hungry ravers. -Yeah, your welcome Karena-
Over the stretch of time used to get my licensing and bonding I felt as if I had left a serious part of me behind. I may have been right. People at fire and Operation Apex were completely shocked to see me out partying. People thought I had dropped off the planet and I was gone. Even my party friends I hang around, who were constantly at parties, thought I was not going to go anymore cause I was constantly turning down rides to go. Yeah, work shit! And every time I turned down one of those rides, over a couple years, it felt as if a little piece of me died every time I said "no, I'm not going, I have things to do".
Now that I have the time I need on the weekends, I want to party as I used to, HARD and SOBER(LOL). I started going when I was 15, I'm now 33, something about parting in the woods and with great people, grabbed me hard. So I'll only stop when it's financially unfeasible.
There are going to be several more outdoor events before we call the party weather over. I'll do what I can to make it to them, with rain gear. Once the outdoor scene is done for the Summer/Fall I'll hit up a few warehouse parties in Seattle and Portland, but not as much as the outdoor parties, I'm straight addicted to those!
Don't stop, just take it slow,
Mark-

Oops, missed this.
I did the projections and laser on the main stage while Rob from Infinity6 made the actual stage structure and decorations. He also set up the other lighting there too.
I think my favorite part about setup was being able to run everything from the woodshed in the building right there. That was luxury. :D

This is an example on why everyone should get along with each other in the scene. Infinity6 and I go after some of the same jobs but instead of trying to make each other look bad we just help each other out which is best for everyone.
Thank you everyone the congraduated Steph and I on our special day. We just got back from Wikikie.

Your all always welcome, and thanks for the props all of you! I bring it because I enjoy it and its a great way to just take a minute to ground and chill. Sounds like a few people may have needed more grounding and chilling in their lives.
Sooo late post but my feelings on the party are mixed and tainted by foot injury. Hills and broken ground where not easy for me to get around on. It was my first time at that venue and while it would have been awsome under normal circumstances with my foot in the post-op boot it sucked.
There was good music to be had but it required a bit of stage hopping threw the night. In my opinion no stage realy stole the show.
The lightning wins as the best visuals, even thought the main stage looked pretty sick, and the other stages where not so shabby either.
Trash in the morning was fucking lame there where trash cans use them you dumb ass ravers.
Leading me into, kids, fucking kids, everywhere... Your 16 put on a god damn shirt and stop running around in your underwear. Also eat a god damn cheese burger, wait no make that 2! Yes I know this was an all ages show, but for fucks sake. I guess I need to stick to more 21+ things if I dont wana see slutty high teenagers hiting on 20 somethings.

Dude! Dont get me wrong, things are never perfect, and people have bad days, but seriously, you think you put enough "But's" in there! Speaking of Chilling and grounding!! geez!
Man I though I was a whiner but you know how to complain!!
Dont go dancing post-opp unless your prepared for the possibilities! Especialy Outdoors, and more so if you aren't familiar with the property 'cause navigating unknown grounds through crowds in the dark is Always scary-danger! (Especialy if you intend to be intoximacated!)
I've learned alot of these lessons, and many more, the hard way, so please dont be too offended by this response 'cause I, along with the rest of mankind have done plenty of dumb and/or painfullthings too!
Chillax! Just do what YOU can to avoid being one of those "dumb ass" (and kinda disrespectfull I might add!) ravers!
If we cant teach these kids not to be so messy or inconsiderate, ect., theres no hope!
The trash WAS bad, but most of the attitudes werent!! And overall I'd say it was a great success!! When people throw parties, I asume they know the risks and responsabilitys involved, including clean up and so on! It's nice to asume people will be careful and clean, but in life I have definitely learned to Hope for the best, but be Prepared for the worst!
If you dont like what you see, in this case a trash massacare, or whipersnapin hoodalims, do somthing positive to change it! Put away the breakables, lock up the valubles, and be ready to enjoy some chaos!

I count 3 "buts" your reply used 5... I can't spell for shit so I won't even get started on how many words firefox is telling me you butchered also...
I have said I didn't have the best time and I stated why. Im hardly blaming it on anyone else if you read my post. I am admitting I could have had a better time under normal circumstances, am stating why, and then saying I'm glad I chose to come out regardless and make the best of it .
Just because you or anyone else payed to get in does not mean the promoter or the staff should have to clean up after you. I'm hardly going to get into leave no trace, or a lecture about cleaning up after ones self. Our parents should have all taught us that when we where 7. Part of teaching these dumb asses to clean up after them selves and put on some damn clothes is heckling them, and letting them know they fucked up. Hence why I make comments about it. In reality I can't do a whole lot else to make someone throw something in a trash can, or not dress like a hoe. If you believe that I could somehow use mind powers, or physically stop them without legal action, your even more stupid and naive then you have already come across as.
One other thing, I wasn't really intoxicated. I did drink a little but spent the night pretty sober, but thanks for the accusations. I sat in a few areas, didn't dance much, and did a lot of people watching due to the foot. It's likely I witnessed a whole lot more general fuctardery due to that. Once again why I put the caveat in my review that my opinions where skewed based on injury unrelated to the party.
"Where Life Begins '09
Man I needed that! I havent danced so hard or had such a satisfing and happy time since I was 16!!
I saw old friends, made new ones, danced so hard I almost cryed, made out with a sweetheart hippy that writes for High-Times and other pot-related magazines, and even got me a T-shirt!!
Not to mention the beautiful, and Compleetly unexpected thunder storm that lit up the night and challenged the bass all night long with hardly any rain!!
What a wonderful night!!
I'm so glad I went!! Only thing that sucked was that I forgot my $15 ticket at home, and had to pay $20 to get in!! Oh well, perfection is imperfect anyways!! But it was all worth it!!

I feel like I've really had "the" rave experience, gotten to know what its all about. Dancing to music is fun now even w/o drugs, and I've been a lot more social and nicer to people.
I'll still punch myself and listen to Black Flag alone in my room tho :)
BTW I'm Dan, are any of you Seattle cats on this board? Nug? Jesse? Your phone numbers don't work dudes!
Oh yeah, whats up Russel. I think I met you with William and Kylie a few years back. thanks for the beer and the amazing parties dude.

Hey everybody!!!! Mr Rise here sayin thanks to Russ and all involved in the show!!! I had a friggin blast and one of the best sets I've had in years! I'm sorry I didn't have CDs to hand out but I have a new mix I just recorded today that I wanna share with ya! It's got a lot of the stuff I played at the party and some extra tunes to pick ya brain! It was great to see all the homies I've missed since I've been down here in SF. I can't even WAIT for the next time I get to come up there! And Russell, make next year happen the way you want to. It'll be bangin. Any help you need, let me know!
Download and enjoy! Oh, and don't take life too seriously!

AMAZING night! great setup. absolutely LOVED the main stage, mostly cuz of the sick lasers :) loved the stage next to the bounce house too! haha
Btw the guy with the huuuge bag of suckers was the shit. haha.
Also... im not sure which dj did a remix to MGMT's song Kids, but how he played the SAXOPHONE into the mic absolutely blew my mind!! OMG... wish i had gotten a vid/pic of that!
Great positive vibes! never been to a rave before but i'm totally addicted now :) everyone was super super friendly.. so so much fun.

Too bad my Hunter S Thompson costume was a huge mistake. Anybody find my hat and shirt? And to the people who got my blanket: :) Glad I could help.
Does anyone have any mp3s of sets? I missed so much good shit at the hardcore stage. I gotta see jimni next.
True that about the trash.. my ride left early (like 630... i was still diggin the techno :( ) otherwise i would have loved to stay and help clean up/meet some new people. Also I would like to thank the wonderful woman in the upper house who gave me some water to wash off my foot... after i had sank almost a foot into the mud (wearing flip flops) near the cow pasture :( she was sooo kind! :)
I live in eugene... will definitely be back next yr :)

At some point, a lot of us feel like we should stop partying, for whatever reason it may be.
Fuck that man... In Feb it'll be 20 years of 'raving' for me and I don't plan on stopping any time soon. I've defo slowed down and can't party all weekend like I could when I was 20, but the problem with partying so long is that it becomes a part of us.
Can't stop... won't stop... uh uh ... uh uh.. (in Dave Chappelle voice, doing Puffy).

Nothing on the books yet. I'd like to play next year's wlb... we'll see what happens. Most likely somewhere here in SF. Check out groundscore.net for bay area jungle parties.

Now a review...
Every time I have started posting a review, someone turns my computer off of closes the screen or something.
But we pulled record numbers this year, with a sold out venue. Which that would not have happened without your support!
But if you thought, that was something, just wait till next years W.L.B 10 year party and the space we're looking into...
I also want to give an extra special thanks goes out to: Dat Dude, Kelly, Dave A., Kelly M., Infinity 6, Taz, Git Down & The Legacy, Scamp, 3 Peace, Jragon, Charles & Pree, Maybelle & Casey, Matt & Ben, Johny, Tommy, Chris, The Property Owners, East Coast Music Group, all the DJ's, promoters, staff, and all the different crews from Cali, OR, and WA, and everywhere else, all the dancers & party people and I'm sure I'm probably forgetting a bunch of people too, but you know who you are!!!
Much love & respect,
Russell - Flair Productions :)
