juan atkins didn't invent raves. old detroit heads never went to raves or did drugs. they went for this thing called music. juan atkins lives in los angeles now and i doubt he'll miss a two hour commuter flight..

check out a book called "techno rebels" by dan sicko for a summarized low-down on the detroit scene and its beginnings. it won urb's book of the year, not that it means much.

juan tore it up new years eve 2000 when i saw him play. even brought his daughter with him to the sports arena. him and eddie flashin fowlkes live in los angeles and play locally pretty often. juan missed his set at DEMF (http://www.electronicmusicfest.com) last year because of a late flight but this party is at night instead of the day like demf. he still showed up and was thanked in the closing ceremonies even though he didn't play.

steve loria has rocked it consistently for the last 10 years. i haven't seen him play techno since he played a 2x4 set with barry weaver two years ago in la. i think james christian was at that party too.. i'm not sure though.. i'm not into that new york trance/breaks/house caffeine crew crap that micro, john debo, and vicious vic play. i think james is more on the house tip though than micro or vicious vic.

looks like a good memorial day weekend affair. best of luck to direct drive.

I thought that it was June 26 and I just looked at the flyer and it is May 26....I for sure can't go.
