Well it was my first party in more years then I'd like state. It was good to be back in the scene. Friendly crowd, with a good overall vibe. The lighting filled the space with a nice tone of sparkles and waves of color. The sound was a bit soft for my bass loving soul, but clean. I entered the dance floor to pick up the tail end of Little Terror's set. I must say out of what I heard, his records where the most fresh and original. Mixing skills where on board, a complete performance. Danced with my sweetheart 'Bubbles' to the hyperactive sounds of Jimni Cricket. Great outfit Jimni ;) The record/cd choices where daring, a wide range of tempo and pitch. The hip-hop mash-ups, the scratching, drum bass-high hat-snare drum- right left yeah you had some style. My only thing from dj 2 dj would be: If your mixing cd to vinyl or reverse it is my belief you should bring your highs down on the cd, as they always have more treble then vinyl. Not that this is a statement by law of sound. (as I'm sure somebody will correct me) But on the dance-floor, cds do sound a little higher tone. Last, I stayed around for a bit to make sure Monkey was on point with flawless mixing and driving records.... If you where there, you know that he was. See you all when I move back to pdx, much love to the scene that never sleeps.

the theme of my set was "wow nothing works" haha sep the monitor and the mixer ~
-power causing the turn table to lag.... yeah ... some times it wanted to be slow and did not ask me if it was ok ... hahha so lots of my turn table chugging. Plus the power cutting 2 times for poor matt.
-over powered by the other room.. not much you can do here .. I am unwilling to make the mixer stay in the red the whole time haha
-needles skipping on the card table ... every time I scratched the other record would skip ...yeah I had it waited proper and use white lables.... I THINK marbel and james fixed this but putting the decks in the cofiin
-cue button on cd player required punching hahah not pressing
I was really distracted by all this. hahah I am really sorry I did not play as well as I should of. I should be amazing even if there are things wrong with the set up. ^_^
Any ways thanks to aj for taking me~ Staff was so nice. James gave out free water to people all night from what I saw. Lots of really cute ravers who did not look geeked out on drugs. Looked like they were there to have a good time.
Thanks to james the show was fun. The lighting was amazing. The show was really well done. I think most of the issues with gear were due to the venue.

The problem with the power was my lights in the side room was plug into the same ciruit as the main room sound. The plug-in was not on the same wall as the main room. It was 2 walls away in a seperate room. That's why it took us 2 times to figue it out. I'm really carefull not pluging into the sound guys circuits. Sorry it happen but at least we know for next time.
Steph and I had a great time. Thank you GBE for everything. We really like running light's/lasers for you. See everyone next time. Jim (Top Notch Lasers and Lights.)

Re-post from previous nights party review...
After a circuit breaker blows it usually will not have the same capacity. As an example; you have a rated 20 amp 120 volt circuit breaker. After the first time it blows (20+ amp load) it will not be able to handle it's rated capacity (It might blow at 18 or so amps). The more times the circuit breaker blows the lower capacity it will have.
If circuits are being blown frequently in this building replacing the breakers might fix the issue.
The sound / light techs should know exactly what there loads are and how to trace out circuits.
A good tool to use is called a Kill-a-Watt. It will tell you exactly how many amps you are using instead of the "rated" power consumption. This is handy when you don't exactly have what you need power wise and you need to make due with what you have. They cost around $25. Another essential tool is a circuit tester. This costs around $5 and will tell you if the outlet is working and wired correctly. When I was doing lighting back in the day I found a lot of outlets that were not wired correctly. This is a small investment to protect your expensive gear.
It's also good to have a multi-meter in your kit... brown-outs (under voltage) can be an issue. The old Chinese tea house used to have major issues with the house power not delivering enough voltage (one reading I took was around 98 volts). Not good for running digital equipment off of.
It's best to never push a circuit over 80% of it's rated capacity. Example; if the circuit breaker is rated at 120 volts - 20 amps, you should never utilize more than 16 amps on that circuit. Another common mistake is that people will use a power strip on a 20 amp circuit. Most power strips are rated for 15 amps which would give you around 12 amps of usable power.
Ambient temperature and humidity will also have an impact on how much amps that you are using. Electronic equipment is not as efficient with amp usage the higher the ambient temperature is. The 80% rule protects you from running into issues like this.

A big thank you to everyone tyhat made last night amazing in soo many ways. We have never stuffed that much sound and lighting in that venue (And neither has anyone else) so we lost power twice. The venue needs to install another 50 amp plug in the building to fix all that. But everyone that attended had a good time and the vibe was THICCK! We saw tons of new faces! Jimni cricket played a great set despite a few gear issue's, Little Terror played a sick HHC set as well. (Thanks for bearing with the sound & equipment issues.) Marble rocked the crowd with some sick body tricks and scratching. Monket dropped one of our favorite sets of the night, Sence had a ton of people dancing to his Dubstep, Jaden played a devastating breakbeat set, Phreek D packed out a nice sized crowd for his set Wiggles played his signature style of bangin house and really had the crowd moving. Double A played a great progressive set too!. Nice work guys! ;)
We look forward to seeing all you beautiful people at NINTECHNO 2!!!!

I 2nd what has been said about the equitment on main stage. I cant comment on the CDJ's since I dont use them but there were issues with one of the decks. Not a power issue causing the lag as Annika suspected. About 5 records in it started to get really predictable, I would get matched and then every so many seconds I would have to tap the platter when it would speed up. It would be fine then speed up again after so long, this was on the left side. Needless to say it made mixing difficult to say the least. I know Annika also had issues scratching without throwing needles, the table the decks were on caused that for sure. While putting the decks in the cases did help for my set I always carry some skip proof scratch records since you never know what you will play on. That I think is the only reason I didnt throw needles as well....
Overall I had a great time at the party. Kidz liked the electro and there was a good vibe during the night. Good job James on a fun event and thanks again for having me out=)
See you all soon I hope:)

I had a good time hanging out before my set; it was great to catch up with old friends and meet/make new ones. I thought Renegade and Marble had the sets of the night, in the main room. However, Sence almost stole the show when he about cleared the main room - packing the side room with some ill Dubstep. IMO, the Portland crowd was not digging the harder music.
As for my set, it was great to be back and I had fun playing all my new tracks. Too bad the turntables had issues, I'm much more comfortable on vinyl and it was sad to have to resort to the CDJ's as a back up plan.
The new crowd was the best part of the night. As Annika said, there were "lots of really cute ravers who did not look geeked out on drugs. Looked like they were there to have a good time."

Thank you GBE for using Top Notch Lasers and Lights for almost a year straight. Also I would like to thank everyone that by glow toys from me. This helps me make my light display the way it is. Any sugestings on how you will like things change around for future events please p.m. me.

Sounds like this was bangin. I really wanted to go but it was the day before my dad's birthday and going on a 12mile hike after a night of hardcore raving sounded like a bad idea. Glad things went off!
