with the note "DJ's write down your time slots". Which is complete bullshit, and I'm really unimpressed with this last minute change, as well as with the expectation that i'm supposed to monitor this relatively unread message board up until I leave the house, just to that in the event my timeslot is changed, I can be responsible for knowing about it.
HOW BOUT A F***ING PHONE CALL?
Look, I would understand a change in the timeslot to accommodate unforeseen circumstances, and would totally understand and would be willing to be flexible on my slot for some emergency, HOWEVER, in the event that said situation were to occur, i would also expect that I'd get a phone call from the promoter explaining what emergency happened and why my slot was moved to ten pm.
But no phone call was received. Rather, I sat 10 yards away from the decks, wondering why my friend DJ Dyer was playing such an extended set. Nobody from GBE was monitoring the stage, going "Hey, where's Joe Nasty, he's supposed to be up at 10?" There wasn't even any lineup posted ANYWHERE where I might walk by and see that my slot was moved from prime time to warm-up hours. I found out when I went to play my slot, at 3, and was told by eKim that he was up. We logged onto NWT and sure as shit, there it said that he was up. The real killer is that I was told a bunch of my homies from the Crown Room came through late expecting to hear me play. Thanks Evan, Tyler, Andrew, and the rest of the possee. Maybe next time.
I've been doing this a long time, and have never, ever, received treatment like this from a promoter. I've been pushed back, had my slot trimmed down, or even unexpectedly tagged with another DJ (eKim as a matter of fact) because time management issues. But at least every time, the promoter came to me, face to face, man to man, and told me why, which I can respect. But to switch around timeslots THE DAY OF, don't post the changes in the venue, and then have the audacity to post 'djs write down your timeslots' behind the changes on, again, this relatively unread message board, so you can hide behind it? "Well it was posted on NWT 1 hour before the show, you should have known . . . Der der der." Bad form GBE, bad form.
I spoke to James Renegade, who tried to be accommodating, and after several situations were talked about, including an offer to open for Le Castlevania, we decided that with the permission of NoFace and Rustik. that I'd play the final 45 minutes of their set on another stage. However, when this agreement was made, I stepped away from the room to have a cigarette, I was told NoFace and Rustik weren't able to get their equipment working, and spent 15 minutes tearing apart the dj booth and re-assembling it to make it work.
At this point, I saw it wasn't really worth my time to try to piece back together the rest of the dj booth in the middle of their set so I could play for 45 minutes. I'm a DJ, not a sound technician. Their time was already short due to technical difficulties, and I didn't want to crowd them so I could fumble around in the dark, unplugging and plugging in wires during their set, especially when they were gracious enough to share their time with me.
I spoke with James, and he said someone within his organization was responsible for this mess and wouldn't be touching time slots ever again in the future, which is a wise move. Leave programming of a night to someone who knows what their doing, someone who would be professional about it.
James did make amends, and told me that I'd be playing after midnight at one of his upcoming shows VERY SOON, and I hope he makes good on his offer to open for Le Castlevania. I would expect that he would, as James has always been respectful and a real straight shooter with me.
Nice work last night GBE. It was an amazing production. I'd like to say I had a great time, however, due to the aforementioned timeslot shuffle, my opinion of the night has been slightly tainted. I'm looking forward to GBE making good on this situation in the very near future.

i'm bummed that i missed this event, as i was planning to go.
i actually had to stay at OHSU with my grandfather, because they predict that this will be his last weekend with us. priorities. im actually typing this from the hospital waiting room...
not to mention i lost my wallet, which has my ID and money in it, so it's not like i could get in anyway without my ID... ugh. :(
pics anyone? i wanna see these ~*incredible never b4 seen decorationzz*~ or whatever.
It was a good night. The lights were really neat, and of course all the music was amazing.
If anyone knows the guy who was filming people for his documentary, could you please let me know who that was? It's kind of important. :(

Great show GBE. We had a great time shooting lasers in the tent for everyone. Thank you for everyone that came and kept the place jumping unitl the end of the night. Music was awsome and the vibe was great. See everyone at Green. We will have a new special treat ready to go for this. :D
That was an incredibly impressive production. Great work James and thanks to everyone who helped him make this happen. Good gawd there was a lot of heads out.
Watching Barry Weaver play was a treat. A true master at work. I honestly can't think of a better house/techno set that I've seen in Portland in the last decade.
Good to see everyone. Had hella fun playing too :)

This party was dope as hell. All the djs played awesome sets on all three stages all night! I seriously didn't stop dancing until 5:00am when things started winding down and each room was awesome until the very end! Never seen so many people at 24ten but I had no problem with the crowded dance floor which is unusual. For some reason everything just went really smooth all night!

Many thanks to Niko for the ufo light rig, that shit blew up the main room. Can't wait to see it at Kings Crown 2.

At 2 am it was like total Mayhem with the crowds. I felt like a great Cattle herder of party people at times. I really should of just posted up against the wall on the inside rooms more to here how great the djs were. If it wasn't for that insane itch to dance I would have spent more time away from the tent area. wish the decks were higher up too so I could see the dj better ( area 3). Those dj's weren't fuckin around last night. Unbelievable amazing beats. Definitely worth surviving 18+ crowd mayhem to hear superior sound. Portland is on to something....So glad to be back out west.

My full review.
First up great job GBE. You are getting much more professional with your events and it shows. I remember your events pulling around 250 people and look at them now.
Maria, and security at the 2410. Like always you know how to host an event. I'm sure all the promoters that use your venue really appreciate you taking care of most of the details. You take alot of stress off of the promoters. I'm going miss the 2410 but I here something way better and bigger is coming soon to Portland. ;)
Main Stage inside: Matie and his crew transform that room better than I have ever seen it before. Space Shaping is by far the best company around when it comes to lights and stretch fabric art. As always that sound system was on.
Side room inside: Infinity 6 and Slick Lasers did a great job working togather. I think Rick even had to turn down his laser because it was just too much for the room. Sound was great also.
Tent: I did the lasers in the tent. I was a little dissapointed on how they looked because of the stairway going up inside the building I had to narrow the scan angles for safety reasons. I thought they looked better about midway point till the end of the show. I think the cold outside in the tent had a little bit to do with that. The Generator took out one of the amps on the sound system. But it still sounded fine and since it was outside and if it was any louder there was a more of a chance for sound complaints.
All of the Dj's did awsome. It did not matter which room I was in. All the music was great all night. Portland scene is getting to be very special. I very happy to be a very small part of that.
On a side note: Please don't try to sneak into shows. I caught 2 people trying to sneak in under the tent. They went out as fast as they sneaked in. Shows cost alot of money to put on. No one get's rich and you trying to sneak in for free it hurts everyone in the scene.
Thank's again for the fun time. Can't wait until Green. Which I believe is 2410 last show. Let's close it down proper.

First off there where more heads at this party than any 18+ event I have been to in a while. I would say Classic was the last one. The balance of diversity and age really made this special and hence keep the energy up. The place was completely pulsing. It was incredible. The amount of energy and class that went into this set-up especially the main room was unbelievable. Shape shifting has yet once again outdone themselves. Every time i can not imagine what can be added Niko out does himself.
Sound, this was in my opinion the best sound layout we have ever done. Kettner of Kaos was perfect as always, you really understand how to work a room and it's limitations. The bass in red room was excellent, big ups Ryan and Alignment. The Kv2's in the main always for the win. I would say adding just a touch more bass with this many people, but it was still packing mad heat.
James, Congratulations. I hope you take this momentum and really keep your events in this suit of quality. You are building a good team and begining to really understand how to work well as a professional and understand what your audience needs are. If you keep this up your reputation will soar and it will continue to make your events that much better. It really showed how much intention you put into this and you could see the positivity reflect thru the crowd.
Underage community. You are getting so much better!!! Thank you for being respectful to your selves and the venue. We really only had a couple minor issues, but overall it was great being around you!!! Couple things: Girls, please wear more clothes. If you wanna get down at least bring layers! Nothing is a bigger turn off than young women standing outside half dressed esp. in line. It makes people feel uncomfortable!!! If you want to stand out or get attention than wear costumes. Quality of taste goes far ;)
The blinky mouth pacifier's: DON'T! This too is so redikulas. Unless you are joking do not bring these to parties it makes the spot seem sketchy and your friends do not take you seriously.
Overall this party was super ill and James get's a big applause.

great event, i was just visiting town and figured it would be a fun thing to go to. i came out alone and met a lot of really nice people. the venue, lights, sound, sets and crowd was really vibin'!
one thing i will say is that i met a lot of younger people who seemed to be airing a lot of their own psychological traumas. let me just say that if people are dissing you about your appearance or whatever they're not understanding the spirit of this kind of event. one of the things i appreciate about the 'lectronic music party scene is that it is welcoming to the weirdos, freaks, dorks and outcasts of virtually any other subculture. all of these people are the biggest nerds you'll find anywhere! (i mean that in the most endearing way possible) groups are only exclusionary in so far as you exclude yourself, and if someone is rude to you they're not worth your time in the first place (there's always a few jerks in any crowd)...
that being said, i hope people who are just starting to come out can find the kind of community to embrace and get over their old hang ups from being disrespected by their peers. i hope this can be therapeutic for people. those of us who make it a priority to enjoy the music and the vibe know that the world is a lot bigger than whatever high school attitudes you have to put up with when you're younger - stay positive, make friends and support each other and all the BS you've had to put up with since grade school will seem like a million years in the past!

I'm really glad to hear that everyone had fun at this show...
I'm disappointed that I wasn't able to come out to do visuals, as planned, due to a SERIOUS lack of professionalism and communication on GBE's part. Sounds like I'm not the only one who had to deal with this... I found out on Thursday night before the event that the promoter had completely changed our 2 month old agreement (not to mention, that was the first time I had HEARD from him in 2 months). Seriously, James, do you expect the people that you hire to take way less than what you had previously agreed to... 2 DAYS BEFORE YOUR SHOW? I've done 35+ shows over the past year and I have never had such a crap experience with a promoter.... And I've worked with teenagers before!!!
I really hope that there is someone in the GBE family who can step up and act like a promoter, because James, you make your company look bad.
Again, I'm glad so many attendees had a positive experience.
Edited to add : Wow, thanks for FINALLY getting ahold of me James! Your little tantrum was fun, and your mindless threats were silly. Next time give me a chance to retort before you hang up buddy!
Epic party, the entirety of Less Than Three was there, glad to see that crowds will really show if you advertise correctly.
Thanks a lot GBE for the epic party, I appreciate all of the DJs, they were all pretty epic, with the exception of one who didn't seem to actually do anything other than dropping tracks. But whatever, not to talk shit or anything.
Rustik and NoFace killed it, as usual, absolutely destroyed the crowd.

Uh, Cinnabon. I don't think you are gettin neg reps for dancing. Gogo's are professional and paid entertainers. Alls I 'm saying and not directly to you or performers per say is there are a lot of young girls who go to these shows. I think costumes are a great way to do something different where you feel sexy, look sexy and come off as creative. Maybe just showing up in coats and going home in layers. Just trying to keep the vibe up and this community safe. There are many people who feel uncomfortable and have for years with young girls barely wearing clothes. When you see a young woman show up in barely anything while she shivers her ass off in the cold it's a turn off.
Keep dancing, just stating some observations and solutions ;)
This was our biggest and most successful event to date. The decorations, Talent, lasers and vibe were right on point! We could'nt have asked for a better turnout! Every event is a learning experience for us.
Thank you to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this event possible. Portland has a very unique and special scene. Lets keep the ball rolling!
We will be hosting another event April 17th @ 2410 known as Green. This will be the 2nd annual! Expect the same level of production from us. From deco & Sound to Talent.
Can't wait for more video & pics!
See everyone April 17th!
Edit Nikomon, we apologize for not keeping in better contact with you. However we will try harder next time we make contact. Part of the reason we decided not to follow through was your asking price. It was twice the normal rate any company has ever quoted us for visuals. Sometimes things fall through. Hopefully we can come to a better agreement next time.
Oh yea we found a pair of Gold keys on a very colorful keychain that you would wear around your neck.
If this is yours message us and we will gladly mail them to you. :)

Mad respect to LED Porn, specifically Mister X and Torq, the lightshows were amazing fellas. =]
Great party, good vibe, excellent night.
that might have been me? Im the pdx dubstep champ i know how to mix  but One of the turntables tone arms was fucked, you couldn't throw the record in with out it jumping off beat, plus the rca cord was shot and the sound would only come out of one side. After they replaced the deck things went smooth and i could mix. Big ups to all who was still gettin down to my set, I was ready to murder the place, that really bummed me out. Oh well, shit happens, next set is my vengeance set! ;)
Big ups GBE for another amazing and solid party! Its not easy throwing an event this size, much respect! THat party was vibin!
Props to all the dancers and people involved with this party, i had a blast! Should have a new mix recorded this week so be on the lookout!

SOUNDS LIKE A PRIVATE MESSAGE MATTER TO ME HOMIE? James has ALWAYS came correct with me and EVERYONE i know. Id say he's the most professional rave promoter ive ever worked with. It takes alot to throw a 3 room event. BIG UP JAMES!!!
I would have GLADLY sent James a private message, but he never seems to respond the them. I'm glad you had a positive experience with the dude... He's the most professional promoter you've ever worked with, and he's the most unprofessional promoter I've ever met.
I know what it takes to throw a 3 room event, so if I'm reading in to that correctly (which, please, correct me if I'm not) you are saying "Things happen at bigger events", I'm not convinced.

shitty you guys had a bad experience, things fall off sometimes and sometimes things go bad. He cant be that unprofessional, hes been throwing parties for years and they keep getting better and better and more attendance so he must be doing something right?
I just dont think your guys's matter is worth trying to stir up some drama, when this party was nothing short of a EPIC  thats all

Damn! after such a crazy weekend with the family i couldn't find time to check this board until now.
Overall the review does a great job at describing the party on Saturday. It was a fucking crazy night! i was especially impressed with the look. I've never seen the 2410 so poppin! i spent the first hour of my night inside the tent wondering what to do with myself, but after i stepped up the stairs and into the main room my faace turned to .
Great job to all the DJ's of course. i have to give the biggest props to my boys Rustik and No Face. sorry about your tech problems but great job getting the shit up and running. you killed it when it matters most. And as far as the music out there in the tent! Jungle-fucking-riffic. hot damn i could not get away from it. it was amazing.
I can't say much for the vibe because my head was in a different place but i have to give my regards to Giggles! Helping the community is what Less Than Three is all about and it was nice to see people helping others out. if you ever meet a girl named Giggles on your raver travels, be sure to talk to her her PLUR won't dissapoint. to all you other kids who were looking out for your community, bless you all.
On a final note, thank you to all the incredibly responsive security guards of the night. I had no problems with them, or any of the other people during the night. You all did a great job keeping the party under control. No one knows how important your job is and from someone who does, keep up the incredible work. I know that having to coexsist with the last minute security at Filth was probably a little outside of your temper (because i know they made my blood bloil) and i thank you for being so legit.
GBE, Top Notch, Neko, 2410 security, and all the other people who made Saturday bangin, thank you very much. you all brought a great night to PDX, cant wait for greeeeen!!!

Looking back at the pics, wish I could have been inside more. Working the door till midnight. had to deal with some personal drama after that then Only watched parts of Fetsish Dolly's set after that. Kids seemed to like her set, glad I brought her out :-) spent the rest of the show assed out in the back room. Still was a great birthday show.
Next time I gotta take like 5 mins an hour and just run insdie for a min, lol

Great job everyone - the sound guys, lighting and decoration team (Spaceshaping - OMG!!! that is the best the 2410 has EVER looked), the DJs (Swamp was crazy and I felt 17 again watching Barry Weaver play), the staff and security, and of course to GBE. GREAT FUCKING PARTY!!!!
Sadly, again, E Squared was unable to record our set - hopefully next show. However, here is a mix that does have most of what I played with Offline at this show. I hope you enjoy it!

This show was packed all night!! After playing solo from 915 to 10pm due to Jragon's equip malfuction and then Playing as e2 from 10pm to Midnight before SWAMP, i walked out to the tent to cool off not knowing that the tent was also PACKED from wall to wall, had to actually go outside to get fresh air.. Vibe was thick, staff was super friendly and the decor was off the chain!! This had to be one of the best shows i have been to or played in quite sometime! Mad Props to GBE and everyone else involved on this very successful event! Only downside was Swamp or his helper spilled some shit on my Technic 1200 MK5, i hope it still works :(

22 minutes into wiggle's mix, its fucking legit.
First and foremost LED Porn would like to thank everyone that made this party possible. Needless to say it was epic, by far the best party in Ptown I've been to in a while. I'm sorry to hear that everything didn't go as smoothly behind the scenes but as with all things in life I'm sure it was a learning process.
As far as DJ's go, Noah D absolutely killed it as did Ronin despite tech problems, can't wait to see you again with operational equipment.
LT3: We love you guys and can't wait to see all of you down here in Eug this weekend for VIP which all you portland folks should try and come down for. The Eug vibe won't disappoint.
and last.... ppl really need to stop worrying about what others are doing and are wearing at parties. A bunch of ppl dressed in nothing or cuddling on the dirty floor should effect your night to the point where you have to post about it in the event review the next day. Look away, ignore them, or don't come, but don't make other ppl feel bad because they are enjoying themselves hurting noone.... but hey, that's just my opinion.
Peace

Well, it is a REVIEW, and people should be able to REVIEW what they want to REVIEW.
Mayhaps you were one of the underdressed people puddled on the floor, which is why you are so defensive.

I wasn't, and you are right, ppl should be able to review what they want I was just stating my opinion that how other ppl are enjoying themselves shouldn't effect anyone's night. But either way much love to everyone and I can't wait for the next one. I will agree on one note though...

If people don't like something at a party, then they should be able to express how they feel.
