"spazmunkees dark side (needs name)"
hardcore/wobble jungle, with elements of psy, with a reverbed string melody.

"lovin you is easy"
A smooth oldschool feel breaks track; acid breaks, then drops into a stylized chiptune ending.

"spazmunkee"
(updated sept. 19th) A fun DnB track with a chippy intro that has nice depth in the breakdowns and a spacey (not spaced out) melody then turns psychedelic.

"ragga breakcore (help me name it)
Its the first true breakcore track i have made, its probably not done as its pretty bare bones, but worth a listen, (warning: was made in a factory that also processes HHC, may have trace amounts of elmo inluded)

"happy noise"
Its only half what the title states. Its dark horror ambiant noise.

"another new rave"
This is one of my earlier tracks. I started making music because noone in seattle plays what i like, so i took what i like and put it all in one song. ingredients include: old school rave stabs, gabber kicks, pitch shifting breakcore drums, 8 bit, and borderline speedcore bass.

Pretty self descript, spazmunkee explores his more mature side.

The tech house is my favorite by far... the 'another new rave' is good too when in the mood for some gabberesque beats I think. Reminded me of a Rotterdam Terror Corps song that I like.

Yeah dude sorry but this is rubbish. These tracks are severely underproduced, not mixed down and just kinda sound like you made them in fruityloops in like 5 minutes...

Though the Tech house track actually sounds alright, I have a hard time believing you made that from scratch considering the quality of the other tracks you made. It honestly sounds like you found a loop and just kinda added a few changes.

If not, then kudos because that one actually sounds alright for a beginning producer. (until 1:39 at least...) The intro is good, but then it just kinda...dies off and then you add stuff that just sounds out of place and it's mastered like shit.

Yes, some of them are underproduced, none of them are mastered. The tech house track is sample based from a sample pack that did not have one shots, so i had to use what little i had that would fit for that kind of music.

and yes, I did sample them, but i got it from a luna C producer pack....

It's amazing really. Every time out in the BSP forum...spazmunkee gets no less than 2 pages of replies. ViZE here...respected breaks producers. Has had releases on labels. His highest replied to thread is spazmunkee's lowest number of replies.

Not a bad start by any means. These tracks lack a lot though, and what they lack are things that only come with time and effort. I haven't released any of my tracks yet, but I am getting very close to realizing my goal of a live set. I've gotten to pick the brains of a lot of great producers as well which has helped. My advice is to not release your material at this stage and to send it to friends who you trust to give you good feedback. Don't take anything too seriously since this is a creative process, and it is easy to get discouraged. At the same time, don't ignore good advice, and be willing to follow up on problems with lots of research and experimentation. One piece of advice is to do a research project into better instruments. I understand the 8bit sound is lofi, but good 8bit is lofi without sounding cheap. I would recommend listening to Saberpulse or our own FighterX. They are using lofi sounds, but I still believe in their music. This is something which is a continuing struggle with my own production. When you listen to good music there is this kind of believability that I find lacking in what you have posted here. Post production isn't your main problem; you need to focus on using the right sounds, applying good compression to them, having proper low and high pass filtering, developing good instrumentation, and understanding the uses of reverb and other effects. This is a lot and should take over a year, but your first step is to build up a good sonic pallet. Your sonic palet are tools you work with often and understand well. Also, if you don't already have a pair, get a good pair of reference headphones. Don't just use good headphones, make sure they are FLAT. I have the Shure SRH840's I recommend them, but there are lots of good options out there.

you should really be able to make your own fucking stabs and kicks spazz, your taste in music would accomodate that just fine not to mention adding the kind of orginality that anyone sorely needs. samples are fun as well as being a PITA, and messing around a bit with any synth on your DAW should be able to turn you out something useful...

id explain some of the sounds that ive been using lately, and how to go about forming them in a single or poly synth, but not only am i fully aware of your interest level in that (= 0) i know that you will likely reply to this with something snippy without realizing all i was doing was offering a bit of genuine insight.

also, as im guessing youre gear will be at HM, i feel i should say this to avoid the barrage of harassment you sent my way electronically last time i would be playing on your kit. Im not gonna fuck up your stuff :)

That DI show my mixer came back with damage that was undoubtably intentional, that or someone fell and used the upfader to stop themselfs from falling everytime because the upfaders had deep scratches next to each side of the upfader. Those deep scrathes are still their. Almos all of the other dj's their were pro and pla yall the time / wouldnt do that. if you didnt do it (which i know you didnt) then i have an idea who did, and will not book them. I know you didnt damage my gear, and by babying equipment you help the scene as a whole.

Bobby's 100% correct here, you need to get your hands on some quality drum hits, without that your music will sound weak from the get go. Using a vst sampler and chopping your breaks into hits is key in edm. You will need to do that to make your compression accurate.

Also try to get into compression (sidechain, parallel, group channels etc) as well, it will make your tunes sound alive and will give you more headroom in the mixdowns.

I personally think spaz has potential for being new to it I think he is doing well.

Also I'd like to say to the folks who don't produce at all and have such harsh comments, I would recommend at least knowing what your talking about if you think you have an opinion in edm production. It's not that easy, but it's easy to sit back and critique for a guy who doesn't even know the first thing about it!

Just so you know a lot of top producers use FLStudio(FRUITYLOOPS), I do not use that program. But I bet a good amount of the tunes you *play are made in that program.

Bobby's 100% correct here, you need to get your hands on some quality drum hits, without that your music will sound weak from the get go. Using a vst sampler and chopping your breaks into hits is key in edm. You will need to do that to make your compression accurate.

Also try to get into compression (sidechain, parallel, group channels etc) as well, it will make your tunes sound alive and will give you more headroom in the mixdowns.

I personally think spaz has potential for being new to it I think he is doing well.

Also I'd like to say to the folks who don't produce at all and have such harsh comments, I would recommend at least knowing what your talking about if you think you have an opinion in edm production. It's not that easy, but it's easy to sit back and critique for a guy who doesn't even know the first thing about it!

this is actually the third or fourth time an experienced person has tried to give munkee that feedback.

some of us that are experienced have tried to tell him all that ^^ and more. seeing the potential but lack of taking in feedback and reasonable critique, to be told to STFU & "we don't know anything" (from munkee previously) has kinda burned some bridges for positive feedback.

She treated me terribly while i treated her like a princess and i let her get away with it because she's got mental issues and doenst understand logic or consequences, but she seemed to be genuinely in love with me so meh. ....that wasnt the case. She dumped me for an abusive X boyfriend that had previously given her stockholme syndrom and used that to manipulate her back into his life. I previously had names censored until i learned more the past, now i just dont care and everyone is laughing about it with me, even my mom after all the havok she caused at my house. We like lol's, this song is for the lol's.


If you dont have anything nice to say then dont say anything, this is my music, my fredom of expression. I may add some noises to the intro, those drums also are supposed to be lower so it can mix with whatever without clashing.

(also, just so no one gets the wrong idea the "my child" reffered to in the song, is a 20 year old girl, older than me)

I don't think a "lot of top producers" use fruityloops. I know that I have played several tracks made in that program, but it's fairly limited when it comes to top notch production. Cubase for the win. Besides, I have used fruityloops to try to produce my own stuff (failed experiment) and it just wasn't what I was looking for.

I never said fruityloops was awful or anything, it's a decent tool for production. THere are much better programs to produce with, but my point was that it sounded like it was made in fruityloops, which has a fairly distinct sound to it, and to me, the sound is underproduced and just not that high of quality when it comes to making tracks. Again, I never said it was a BAD tool, there is just better ones out there when it comes to making music.

it sounds good to you and maybe a few others, but in all reasoning... if you feel this is the best you can ahchieve, you feel like THIS is it for you, you have a whole new thing coming.

Putting your tracks online doesn't make them better, OR having your friends support them doesn't do much either... they are your friends they support you to the end...

I want you to record yourself while listening to a track from another prodcuer, because for some odd reason I just have the feeling that you just ramble to yourself all the things that are wrong with it...

Play back that recording, and listen to how hard you were judging that track... you have to be that judge to yourself to.. judge your music as harshly as you judge others... and you will produce nothing but the best to your ability.

FL is ok.. But it is not the only proggy used for these guy's tracks.
A lot of artist these days use multiple proggys to get the sound just right.


Broaden your horizons... Play with Cubase, Ableton, and Reason on top of FL
