The thing about copyrighting names is that some bullshit legal advice books you can buy in bookstores claim that if you copyright your name you can never be sued and anyone you sue can't defend themselves, since the opposing party has to use your name in their court documents and if you've copyrighted your name then you can just deny them permission to use it.

That's entirely false of course, but idiots still buy into it.

I figure she is just making the demands to get their attention, but won't mind if they settle and give her a bunch of money to go away. It would have been funny to see the Superintendent's face when he was reading this letter for the first time.

My mom went through 12 years of Catholic school with mean nuns who slapped her with rulers. She was definitely traumatized from that experience and wanted to make sure we wouldn't have to go through the same thing.

Like I said, things most likely have changed since I was a wee one. I think there are so many rules now that teachers can't even touch in any type of caring manner (a touch on the shoulder, hugs) because it could be perceived as "abuse".

Didn't used to be. They were still using corporal punishment when I was in grade school in the Everett area. I think they stopped that when I was 9 or so, but I remember a kid coming back to class in the second grade with a freshly tanned ass, choking on his tears so hard he couldn't speak or stand up straight. Once in a while when I'd get into trouble, they'd park me in a room overlooking the paddle just to make a point.

Yeah the principal at my elementary school had a paddle with holes drilled in it for maximum welting and a sticker on it which said "You did it" which I believe was a Cheerios slogan in the 80s. My mom had to sign a form stating that they were not allowed to spank us, or the default was that you could be spanked. I was in the office one day because I was sick and this kid in my class came in three times for spankings in the short time I was there. He was kind of a bad kid, but obviously he learned nothing from the spanking.
