hey all you Portland party kids i am possibly well more than likely transfering my job down there... i love Portland, the people, the cleanliness, and well the fact its not Seattle... so i am asking for you to tell me all the things i should know bout Portland... like where is good(not too expensive) to live and all that.... i will be down there this Sunday lookin so i need all the help i can get...

If you are on a budget, don't look on the West side for a place. Stay on the East side, and look in the southeast Portland area. Occasionally, you'll find a gem for cheap in northeast Portland- we live in the Irvington neighborhood which is becoming somewhat trendy, and pay only $750 for a VERY spacious 2 bedroom with hardwood floors- but that is rare indeed. So I'd look in Sellwood and/or the Hawthorne districts when you get here, all in southeast. Both are neighborhoods with definite character, but won't charge you up the ass for a tiny studio.

I'll help ya out too. Email me: atara@hotmail.com. Pretty much the farther you go out of Portland the cheaper and bigger the places get. You'll also want to consider what your going to be doing for work. If your dealing with computers then you'll want to head out to the Beaverton/Aloha/Hillsboro area cause we have mass companies out this way. There are also the rare little gems that Sparklecheek spoke of all scattered around. Check out Oregonlive.com, they have all the classified ads online, just search the area you want to go, the price, bedrooms, ect. Wow, and I hear all this bitching about people who want to get the Hell away form Portland! I personally don't mind it ((( images/smilies/smile.gif ))). It's a nice enough place to live, if you don't mind a ten minute max-ride to downtown portland, you might want to look in Beavertonfor an apartment, They're dirt cheep, I know people living in a 3-bedroom apartment for $750 monthly, it'ds a nice place too, split $750 three ways too, and you'd be living PHAT, with a couple of homies.
