Yeah I have to agree: scrubdown was total sweetness. The cops did a walk thru even, and the graciousness and helpfulness of the staff ensured there was no conflict (well, that plus the crazycool vibe that was beaming from most everyone!) The no water thing was kinda lame, but dance safe was there to keep ppl who needed it hydrated and cared for. There was also a little booth selling 'designer' candy made by a very wonderful man. The music *kicked my ass*. I am a dance til i drop kinda lady and i say ~hot damn~ when the night was over i couldn't grind out even one more groove. It was so excellent. We need to have more hardcore parties!!!!!!! hehehe
The visuals were super sweet too. And to all the promoters and dj's a big fat HELL YEAH to you for doing so much and finding such a cool space and taking the time to create a wonderful world for us to play and grow in. Thank you very much. And thank you also to everyone who smiled at me as i passed by, everyone who gave me massages, and to the fellow who gave me that fantastic massage at the end of the evening when i was soooooo sore! Thank you Jesse! It was a wonderful night that i will remember my whole life because of all the beauty i found amidst warehouse grime and 4/4 time.

Well, we scrubbed down 1999 yesterday!

Personally, this was one of (if not the best) party of the year in Portland. Nothing went wrong at all!

The music...
The lights...
The DJs...
The Space...

NO PROBLEMS...

Wow what a cool party. Anyway, Thanks for all who made it out to support the scene! I am going to go back to sleep now... :-)

Hell yeah, that party was sooo excelent.. The only one thing that was kinda messed was that they ran out of water around 5am and there was no taps.. there was some hella thirsty ppl out on the dancefloor..
aside from that, it was one kickass time. Scrubdown and Come Alive IMO were the two best parties of 99!!

this was an absolutely *amazing* party and i want to toss out *mad* props to those involved in the planning and those that made this night possible. even though i'm not that much of a hardcore girl the tunes were crazy enough to get me out from behind the dancesafe booth and onto the dance floor more than once http://www.hyperreal.org/~gruvnkim/ubb/smile.gif

i was pretty tired from the F-8 party on friday night (that's a whole 'nother story) but making plans with sean and rinnie to set up dancesafe got me so excited about the night that i actually had no sleep-deprivation issues until close to 6 in the morning. we arrived hella early and got our table set up, then rinnie and i ran out to go get food (taco bell! burger king!) for everyone and pick up balloons for the table and oranges for all the dancin' kids. we arrived back in time for the music to start even though the doors weren't open yet so sean and rinnie and tea (sp?) and i were dancing around in the big empty warehouse for a while and taking lots of pictures http://www.hyperreal.org/~gruvnkim/ubb/smile.gif

the whole night went off *really* well, the only exception being that the table selling water ran out sometime around 5. the promoter gave me money to go to the store so me and rinnie ran to plaid pantry and bought all the small bottles off their shelf, running into several other kids that had also headed to the store to buy as much water as they could afford to (with $ out of their own pockets). it was *beyond* cool to see that there were so many others looking out for everyone, i just feel bad for the poor guy working at the plaid....all of a sudden he was staring at a bunch of ravers trying to buy out the store's bottled water supply at 5 in the morning!

i think me and rinnie ended up peeling about 20 pounds of oranges with our bare hands, from now on we're going to bring one of those orange-peeler tools with us. the oranges were such a hit that i would like to make it a regular pdx dancesafe thing http://www.hyperreal.org/~gruvnkim/ubb/smile.gif i even took oranges back behind the dj area right before the party was over and to all the security folk...

i also got to meet lots of list people for the first time, hello and hugs to *all* of you (especially alexnumb and jess). the *temple of sound* kids were all in attendence as were us *groove infusion* kids, the portland scene has been growing (at least the parts of the scene that i've been involved with) and everyone i've been meeting has been super-sweet and wonderful http://www.hyperreal.org/~gruvnkim/ubb/smile.gif

see you all at *joy to the underworld*, look for me and peter and rinnie and sean at the dancesafe booth- we'll feed you oranges and always be there for hugs and smiles, not to mention all the dancesafe info you could ever want http://www.hyperreal.org/~gruvnkim/ubb/smile.gif

Ok everyone get your eyes ready b/c RinniE is doing her (REV)
Ok where to start? HHHMMMM??? Ohh yeah I know... at the beging. I got off work Sat morning at 7 and got home rufflie around 9ish I diddle daddled. So I got home *ugh* and I made a few calls and then zonked out at about noon Woke back up at 2ish and then started to get ready and started to contact the ppl I needed to contact. so by around 5ish I was ready to go and out the door I went. I stoped along the way to pick up some nummy juice and some fishy crackers. Nummy dinner eh? So I hop on the max and make my way to Coffee time where I am to Meet the all wonderful Sean (naEss) and Laurie (Squeek) So I sit there eating my crackers and drinking a Peach soda (I love Peach) and Sean showes up and then it's off to Fredys for candE and then to Kinkos to make copys. Then it's off to 3rd and Ash. We get there and it looks wonderful the lights are up there's Balloons everywhere bubble blowers lasers It looked WONDERBUG! and the space WOWZERS BIG! Well Squeek and I had to dash to gather some stuff so in her Fishy Volvo we went. Safeway is where we stoped first and that was to pick up Film for Sean and some Ballons the ballons was a adveture in it's self... Patrick was doing our balloons but they called him to do a carry out and he said that he was helping a customer and they said "so what come do the carry out anyways" so He sent over Mashal who did a better job anyways b/c he tied candy to the strings. So we got the balloons and Oranges "the oranges which my thumbs would hate at a later time" (they still hurt) and then off to Buger Fling and Taco Hell Yummy nothing like a good pile of grease to start the night out with. so we get back with like 30 min to spare. se we hung the balloons and munchied our fewd and danced around. *by this time I was so hyper I could hardly keep myself from busting* So then ppl started coming and the night just grew from there... The music was lip smakingly nummy I haven't danced that much in a LONG time. I saw so many of my friends and got hugs and kisses from them all. I would have to say this one was the best party that I went to this year. but I also had a good time at Summer Nights Dream which was also another 24/7 event.

I have to admit, Scrubdown very well may have been my favorite party. Care-A-Lot was good, but this party was hell-of. The visuals were awesome, mad lasers, smoke, bubbles, baloons. Great sound, Bam Bam put on a better show than Keoki. He tossed out some of his CD's at the beginning of his set, and later on he took some a candy I held out for him.

The people were good. For some reason, when there aren't booths, things seem far less shady. That's not to say that things were simply not shady, trust me, there was shaddiness about. Luckily the dancesafe booth was there to counter-act, with condoms, ear plugs, e info, candy, and smiles.

After-party/pass-out place was Dennis's. Thanx buddy! Mad props to all the kids I see at every party. You know who you are.

great party -> Scrubdown <- great party

I went up to the barn for the small birthday party last night. Had a chance to see some pretty good dj's in a relativly empty place. I mostly went to see the dj's. It was fun for the short time I was there.

laterz.

Yeah, I just have to echo whats been said in previous posts. This was one of the best parties I've been to in quite a long time. Maximum props to the NW-ravers! You don't know how refreshing it is to see people dancing and going off the way they oughtta, as compared to the big parties in SF where all the kids get way too cracked out and love to sit down in front of the stacks (!). I had a fabulous time playing and also loved Eddy's and Woody's sets quite a bit as well.
Maximum respect to the 24/7 crew! An air-tight party in every way! Also, shout outs to Kyle-T, Dave Bot, DJ Magneto, The Finnegan's massive, Jeff Starbass, Geneva, Stan, Dig-Dug, Matty M., The 3rd Floor, and everyone else who might be slippin' my mind right now!

Out,
George

p.s. If anyone knows the girl who was dancing right in front of the decks while i was playing, with long brown hair, white shirt, white hat and white oxygen mask, who shook my hand at one point, tell her she rocks! Her smile and energy were way contagious and I was feeding off of it in a major way!

FUN FUN FUN!!! I was kind of sad in the beginning because my entire regular crew didn't show that was supposed to =( (some got WAY too drunk the night before...that never stops ME dammit!) BUT...this gave me the opportunity to branch out and actually HANG OUT with the kids I usually just run by and say hi to. I'm met so many kids this past summer (through NRK events) and this last term but never really chatted with any of them. I got to this night! =) We actually did the exchanging of numbers too instead of the "I'll see you at the next party" line. HAHA...I got to shock the hell out of a few of the kids too! It's REALLY HARD to shock ravers but dammit...I CAN DO IT...well if you've known me for long enough I can shock you...like in person known me! I also LOVED getting to meet more list kids and seeing some again! =) (Squeak, HexRei, Rinnie...that one guy...=) I forgot his handle...) eh...read what everyone else wrote and read what I wrote in my other one... god I'm getting sucked deeper and deeper into this world and I LOVE IT! http://www.hyperreal.org/~gruvnkim/ubb/biggrin.gif!

ya, i think ill have to agree SCRUBDOWN was off the hook. i'm still in agh of everything that happened that night; from the people i met, dancesafe(the oranges were the best) i love you guys keep dancesafe alive in oregon, the music, the lights, and just everything. sure, the water situation sucked but with the love of everyone it worked out. so i can't wait 4 joy to the under-world( what a way 2 celebrate my B-DAY). can't wait to see everyone.

much love,

alan

scrubdown was the coolest party ive been to... let alone performed at. i always feel crunchy replying to reviews of a show i played at, but.. i spent most of the night grooving myself so...

i wanna thank EVERYONE involved, and everyone who showed up, i am kinda bummed i didnt get to chat w/ bambam on account he left during my set. the crowd rocked! i am so happy to see people gettin down for the harder, seedier techno that is out there. true, my set was too hard for some, but as i looked out, all i saw was excitement and energy. i love it!! portland has always made me feel welcome, and i look forward to playing out in OR again.

im not gonna promote my site here, so if anyone wants to check it out or give me feedback on my set, feel free to email me.

oh wow, i remember this party. I had been to like 2 parties before this one but this one was the one that really got me started in the scene. what a wonderful night. I dont tend to remember much of parties after a week or so, but i will always remember this party and how much of a new experience and how much of a blast it was. Props to LucyFurr for bringing this memory back. This was one of those shows that totally set a new scale for me to judge other parties against.
Peace-
