Hi there. I just moved in here from the Netherlands only to find out that there's no techno scene in Seattle? There have to be SOME people that like it. I mean, I've heard that a lot of people play it so if we get together maybe we can get together and organize an event or something. I DJ mainly swedish techno. If you are interested, drop me a line.

joris,
seattle people have a fear of techno i think. if it is played, they run and hide. hope bellingham is working out for you. i will look you up next time i go see my bro up there. we can go to BC and party up there. oh, you might want to check out loungex.com. its all about the BC scene.
if anyone is looking for a quality techno dj, get ahold of this guy. he sent me his tape and it fucking rocks!!!
love n' luck,
forrest

Teckno, eh?
That's what I first started spinning before house. You should check out Shrumtribe up in Vancouver. They are a really cool collective, and spin more funky tekno. I have no fears, and would luv to hear some more stuff in that vein. You should get a hold of me (click on the box above for my email addy)and lets talk. I spin mainly deep house, but im tryng to organize an event some time in the future, and would luv to hear your stuff!!
Peace.

i second the shrumtribe recommendation..
their events rock!

here is a review of the last one i went to:

it was so refreshing to attend an event which had a concept behind it
rather than just "having a party". we arrived down the gravelly path to
find numerous creatures clothed in red robes awaiting us. they then
anointed our foreheads with strange symbols in mudpaint and pointed
us the way. we travelled down the path and found a series of
monoliths - giant black towers arranged in a circle. red light cast a glow
on the dancers, and swirling visuals reflected off the rock quarry
behind. tiki torches lent the only other light.

we began to dance, and a few hours later were surprised to see a
series of red-robed creatures marching around the event in a line,
carrying the ST flag and making indecipherable gestures and
movements. some began to follow them... others simply observed
their movements.

mmmmm. music. yet another refreshing aspect of this event. music
which was unique, interesting, and heady, while still being
dance-oriented. all the dj's were excellent, but by far my favorite was
tyler stadius who spun the morning set. i was cuddled and enjoying the
morning, terribly tired.. but when he came on the decks my rear began
to move of its own accord and i was forced to move it near the speaker
so that it didn't get pissy with me. lovely house that was uplifting
without being cheesy. definitely a perfect person to close the evening,
and i was sad that more dancers weren't left to hear it. every record i
had to keep running up to the tables in a futile attempt to remember
what it was. finally i realized i couldn't possibly remember the names
of every track he was spinning, so i gave up my trainspotting attempts
and submerged into dancing. mmm.

here is something tobias wrote which explains the monoliths in more
detail.

"What we were working with was a combination of the site-- a gravel pit
with a strange red tower overtop --and space mythology a la Sun Ra
and Underground Resistance. UR has a label called Red Planet which
focused on weird, spacey trancey techno which came out in the early
90s, and very much tied into this was the struggle of the black people
as an alien race-- UR has borrowed the Jupiter mythology from Sun Ra
(space is the place...space is the place), which they use quite
frequently (such as projects like Moor Horsemen on Bolarus 5). We
borrowed all of this and changed it once again to make mars a place
from whence we came-- as extraterrestrials spreading musikal
communication. The monoliths were a cross between 2001 and
Stonehenge: communication devices. During one of our brainstorming
drink-a-thons (that's where we get our ideas: pagan gods RUM and
GIN), we realised that all of the constructions on earth that had
alien-references were very basically geometric in shape (the
pyramids-- triangles, mayan/aztecs: square, crop circles: circles) and
that if communication was to be made it would perhaps be done by
communicating these basic shapes. Hence the shapes on the
foreheads and the flag standards which were marched in at 3am.
Musically, the point of associating some musik with space (such as
Sun Ra to George Clinton to UR to us) is to associate a higher-level of
consciousness with such musik, and to try and get people to think
along the "astral plane" (Sun Ra). What everyone is really seeming to
be getting it is to open your ears and minds...musik as a form of
communication, intelligence.]>>"

I love schranz (techno for germans), my favorite djs are Chris Liebing, Hardfloor, Gayle San, etc. Joris do you know any of these german djs? I'm looking for techno parties coming up in seattle. anyone please direct me in the right way.

I started listening to trance when I first got into the scene, but now I'm addicted to techno. They play pretty good techno at club FX (liberations) yesterday(19th) the music blew my mind. Please post any replies soon. PLUR

Seattle is not the place to be, if your really into techno, at least to my knowledge.
You'd better head up to Vancouver. Shrumtribe organizes technoparties there...

I have never been to any type of Rave/techno or other type of gathering.. i really like to dance to upbeat rythms and would love to go to one sometime...Please email any to me in the seattle area and if i can i would love to attend..That would in fact be, for me, sort of surreal...i am on a quest to attend one and so far have been to one door and shut out because my friend was to slow to get there before it was full. plur to all.
