View Full Version : How dumb can VoiceStream get? (Extremely dumb)

So VoiceStream has a new improved voicemail system! Finally, they have added features like recording the number of the caller of each voicemail (Sprint PCS had this like 4 years ago) and added message forwarding and group messaging. Also, to add paranoia to your cell phone usage they say that you'll have to enter a secret code every time you check your voicemail (I've checked it twice since I set it up and haven't had to do that yet... hmm... could they be inept? no way!)

The greatest feature is the new delete key, which is 7! What's so awesome about this is the old PLAY key was 7... how great that's going to be for everyone that momentarily lapses and deletes messages instead of listening to them.

All cell phone companies suck. Sprint sucks. About 5 people from there have called me asking where my check was and I said every time that it was in the mail. Finally I yelled at a lady and they stopped.

Voicestream is really dumb....i still owe them like $400 and they still can't find me! someone owes me that much money i get out the lynch mob...but then again i a broke ass college student... hopefully cricket will come to seattle soon that is who i had in colorado they rock! $40 a month gets you unlimited local calling so its like your house phone but it works all over the metro area, then your LD is only like 8 cents a min and you prepay that to....so write to your congressman....cricket...tapped by the feds but cheep cheep

I used to work in Handset Upgrade for Voicestream, meaning, I handled inbound calls from customers who wanted to buy new phones. I'll tell you one thing: Voicestream doesn't give a shit about existing customers. 75% of the calls our department recieved were from people who had been transferred to us for completley wrong reasons. Voicestream Customer Care is evil. Voicestream is evil. Don't do it guys.

Voicestream really does suck. So do most other wireless companies. If yo udo decide to go to another service I would recommend Cingular Wireless. My brother is the manager in Bellingham and can get you a really good deal on yer phone. I've also been with Verizon who gives you random charges. Ew

we use voicestream for work.. the reception sucks.. on some parts of capitol hill it works ok, but other places it doesn't work at all.. it never has good reception.. half the time it won't go through on calls, or it drops your call in the middle... oh well.. i want some of those nextel 2 way phones.

Sweets - Do you have your brother's permission to offer people "good deals" in his name? ;) I wouldn't be too happy.

Personally -I used Sprint from 1996 through early 2000 when I ruined my phone. Throughout all that time, I lost only a few calls. Service was always good for me. After I destroyed my phone, I used my boyfreind's USWest cell phone and lost half of all phone calls! I used this service for about six months and then switched to VoiceStream when the company that pays for my service switched. Voicestream does a fairly decent job. I lose about 2 per cent of my calls, and that's not bad. The customer service issue is real - it does suck. Still, as my service is taken care of, I don't complain much.

4/4shakin: Poor money-management choices now (when you are a college student) will bite you in your lazy ass in the future. And the "college kid" status is not a defense. $400.00? You owe them that much? Good grief. I wish you good financial luck in your future...

Love Wesley.

heh my mom works at voicestram! lol but sprint is by far the worse. they called my like 2 weeks after i got my phone and told me i'd used all of my mins...i told them b.s. and before tey turned my phone off they had better send me a statement. and they told me "well you used up all of your day time minutes" and i said "oh okay then i'll just use my phone at nite from now on!" :p they didn't go for that idea...anyhow the dickheads sent me a bill w/ no statement! no times and #'s that i had called! and right after that someone stole my phone, so the damn sprint lady calls for my payment like 5 times, i tell her the same thing everytime finallybitch calls again and i tell her "look you annoying bitch! send me a statment and a new goddamn phone or none of you dicks are gonna see shit from me but a courtroom and my lawyer!" they dropped my bill but never sent me my phone...hmmm. (but boo, my friend had verizon and they left her phone on for almost a year w/o paying! at the end only incoming calls worked! )

just yell, threaten them w/ a lawyer if they piss you off :)

I use Qwest and I love it!!! I have never lost a call in the year and half I have been using it. I have only one place where I can't get reception and thats inside 1 store...which I don't go to often. I even got reception in Idaho, perfectly clear! I have never had a problem with my service it's great...I would highly recommend it to anyone!!!! I have heard all to many horror stories of Voicestream. Happy callings!:)

i went from qwest to voicestream.
from $180/month for 500 minutes (regulated) to $49/month for 3000 minutes (unregulated).

i am happy as can be.

qwest bullied me after over a year of making them richer.
they need to go out of business.

All you disgruntled Voicestream customers should switch to Sprint (no, I don't work for them, just a satisfied customer).

Besides the fact that I get reception everywhere, it kicks ass when doing long distance traveling, my phone has all sorts of nifty little abilities like voice dial, I pay $4 a month for insurance which covers stolen, broken, and even lost phones. My fav thing about Sprint is how on the rare occasions that I call customer care and it's so busy I hang up, they call me back! The make me feel like they really care!!! Yeah, Sprint's the shit...

i used to work at radioshack, and cell phones are currently their biggest industry. if you want lots of coverage, Verizon is THE best choice you can make, period. Sprint would probably be second. as far as the customer service thing goes, verizon just added like 3000 some new agents like 4 months ago, and seem to be pretty good in a general sense. basicly i never heard but a couple of a complaints while i worked there. sprint i hear, IS actually quite a bitch as far as customer service goes. there are like 15-120 minute hold times depending on when you call. AT&T has more coverage than sprint, and will offer you more minutes for your money, but they use an older technology, that isn't completely digital. they tend to seem like a better deal, but you're paying less for a lesser quality product.
note: i don't work there anymore, and also hate them, so i'm not trying to sell anyone anything, but the fact is they are the two best carriers in the nation.
secondary note: this was only written because a lot of you seem to be complaining about poor cellular service.

wesley can't we be just a BIT nicer! this is how dumb VOICESTREAM can be not how dumb to each other. And $400 was just the remainder of one months bill.... 1900 weekday min and 250 weekend min doesn't work when your plan is 600 weekday and 2400 weekend

I propose that even though Nextel is kinda lame the 2 way feature is pretty sweet but you have to have everyone you know on nextel otherwise you still get burned. But if we all go get nextel then.....

Maybe we should really all just get motorola talkabouts and move within 2 miles of each other, we could just take over some town,,, i vote for mercer island haha

I used to use Sprint, I had 1000 weekday, and 3000 weekend minutes, free long distance, for $29.95 a month... then I moved to Bellingham where they had absolutely no coverage, so switched to Voicestream. I haven't had very many problems with them up until last month when I tried to get my deposit back... apparently, they don't have record of me paying one. Bleh...

Anyway, my roomie got screwed by Voicestream month after month after month. They over billed him by at least $40 (sometimes up to $150) each month for every single month of his year long contract. His contract ended in May and he received his deposit in the beginning of November, and it was $80 short.

ok heres my thoughts on this...

I used to work in the customer service department of Verizon. for training for this they cram 8 weeks of training into 2 weeks. they dont properly teach you the equipment and what to do in certain circumstances. and generally verizon customers were the bitchest down right rudest people ive ever had to deal with. So ya they dont properly train you so all you verizon customers that call and your customer service rep doesnt know what their doing now you know why. Reason they've added over 400 more employee's is cuz all the old ones ran out on them *including myself* because their assholes and dont give a flying fuck bout their company and or their employee's.

as for sprint.. i used to own a sprint phone and it sucked ass the service was always dropping i was roaming when i shouldnt have been. and then finally someone stole my phone i got it disconnected and just paid the stupid cancelation fee. and had my bill go to collections cuz it was over $500 for god knows what. i didnt even use the phone THAT much. but oh well thats all taken care of :)

i Currently am on a voicestream prepaid phone *ya prepaid sucks* BUT i dont ever have to deal with a bill coming that im not able to afford at the time. so its a good choice for me.

Here are my thoughts on cell phone providers

Voicestream: Had them two years ago, they had okay coverage but there tech support people were the biggest dumbasses. My friend had them & she wanted to upgrade her phone, well they told her she would have to sign a new contract, just to buy a new phone! She said screw that, & she said she always had billing problems.

Sprint: Just currently had sprint for about a year & 1/2. Not bad service, the coverage where I live sucked (I had to stand by my glass door to get signal). I did have to wait hella long to talk to someone there...there reps sound like the most zombied, unhappy, & uncaring people in the world! Their billing always seemed to be correct though.

AT&T: I sell cell phones over the phone for a local phone service company (you can guess, I'm too ashamed to say), I have only heard horrible things about their service from their customers looking to switch. Things like fucked up billing, dipshit support & service, & being out of service. I would never step foot in one of their stores.

Verizon: Don't have much to say about them, but my friends Verizon phone always had better coverage than my spring phone.

Qwest: I have them now because they are the only ones with the new Motorola Timeport 270c & I had to have it (I'm a sucker for new phones). But the coverage is really good & I never get a dropped call. I do know we have billing problems (I just gave it away!), but that doesn't happen to most people. I know alot about our service so if you have ?'s, let me know.

Basically, I think that there are many people with all of the companies that love the service & have had no problems, & vice versa...have had nothing but shitty ass service. It all just depends. (except AT&T, they suck all around!)

i have been with voicestream for a year at the end of this month and have had nothin but problems with them....every single month since i started my plan i have had billing probs. their systems can't seem to separate my anytime mins from my weekend time so they are always over charging me by about $80 a month. i have to call them every single month to get it changed and most of the time when i call the people have no idea what the hell they're doing....plus the coverage sucks too. they only cover along the I-5 corridor...its a pretty f*ed up company imo....

Most of my friends got either Cingular or Voicestream. They get really shitty reception and all that overcalls but for some reason they don't change to Sprint. I had Sprint for 4 years now. I never complain cuz I got 1800 for $18 (employee discount altho I don't work for them anymore for like 3 years now). For some reason every year on my anniversary with them, they don't charge me anything. I love it!

I tried getting one of those deals too with Verizon so I can have long distance, I say they are the shittiest! Their customer service sucks. I had a one year agreement with them. Had it for 4 months and I just paid the rest of the year so I can get out.

omg... you worked for LiveBridge didn't you?!?! I work for Verizon in the buildings off I-90 in bellevue and we DID have 8 weeks of training. I'm assuming if you only had 2 then you WERE working in Auburn at the LB center and we at bellevue HATE LB!!!!!!!!

More people are actually fired from the main buildings then quit.

haha i've worked for verizon wireless for 6 months. a lot of the customers kick ass and I love my job. I don't have many complaints about the service either. I had voicestream prior and THEY sucked ass!!!!!! I hated their customer service reps.

i dont get reception anywhere. my phone doesn't ring, but it'll beep to tell me there are messages. the list could go on forever...too bad for long-term contracts....

I speak from experience in saying that this does indeed suck. I not only deleted my first message right after the instructions, but I then also did it to the second message. I guess the phone is too smart for me.

i originally had verizon, but the reception sucked my ass....

now i have Voicestream and with the exception of not knowing how the fuck to check my voicemail since the switch recently, it's been grand. The best part? I have a 206 number (cuz I'm from seattle) but can use my phone in Eugene (where I go to school) for no extra (roaming) $!!!! ANd it's a local call for all my friends and fam back in sea-town.

lol

it's beautiful, really.

voicestream isn't that bad. i got my phone/accesories thru a promotional thing with them for free and i'm stuck with them for a year.

i had some problems at the begining because the sales rep signed me up for one program but said i had another one (wrote both on the paper) and my first bill was fucked up hardcore.

i refused to pay it until they fixed it. well, i paid what i thought i should be paying and it took them like 6 weeks to get their shit together.

but that's really the only problem with them.

i am no ok with this whole new voicemail thing, though. i went to the check my voicemail the other day and my phone was just about to die and it made me set up the new mailbox before i could access the messages.

i was preparing to be really pissed off if it died before i got to my messages.
