Whatever happened to homecooked?
Ok... ok, I have never ever had a traditional homecooked Thanksgiving dinner, instead my family has always opted to go to a restaurant, since its only like four people eating anyway. In many instances, I find this really really hilarious, but also pretty sad! My family is a bit dysfunctional, therefore that's why we don't even bother to get together with other family members..? Perhaps its because my parents are from a different country, and aren't used to eating the usual stuff..? Maybe its just my fault for not trying to push them to be a bit traditional?
Worst part is the only restaurant open on Thanksgiving is... Black Angus... hmm... steak... :-(

You know, from what I have noticed every family is dysfunctional in some way. Even being a functional family is sortof dysfunctional... or something.. I would just be happy that you have your own tradition and not to worry about turkey and "traditional" thanksgiving.. As long as your thankfull to be with your family and you enjoy yourself it doesn't matter where you eat at..
i only have thanksgiving with my mom and my brother because my family is what you would call dysfunctional as well.. I wouldn't change it for anything..
fuck white picket fences and all dat...

Last Thanksgiving, I went out to dinner in a restaurant with my two gay uncles and my grandmother who has alzheimers.
It was fun! :D
My uncles bickered back and forth and my grandma told me the same story at least 10 times.

you could create a sitcom from that situation...

And yes, I will be part of the dysfunctional holiday eat-out tommorow. It's so great, no dishes, and you don't have to hang around the living room trying to make conversation.

Nu uh. Von's downtown is open, and they have turkey. I love Von's. Reservations are reccommended though, they're always busy.

Back in the day, when my grandpa was still alive, he'd invite all my relatives(I think about 60-80 per year) over to the Everett Golf & Country Club over for Thanksgiving, and everybody got as much as they could eat and drink. My grandpa paid every cent on him, so I'm never sure what it costed him, but when he started to get too ill to do it anymore, it was sorta sad to watch a family tradition die out.....My uncle has at least started to re-start the tradition after a few years of a break, so it'll be cool to see alot of my relatives again.....The lame part is watching all the ones that won't be around much longer....I'm going to want to remember them and what they're like, before they all start to pass away one by one....(This year, about 3 relatives finally passed away, so you see what I mean already)
I think the earliest one I can remember, I was 4 years old, and I fell in love with one of my distant cousins.....When we met 6 years later, she freaked out when my mom had to bring it up.....I had completely forgot about it, but by the time I was 10, girls didn't really interest me anyway, so I'm sorta glad I had forgotten about it.....It's sorta funny though in a cute way....

i ate thanxgiving dinner at a resaurant once, with my exboyfriend, his mom, and his moms friend, out in philadelphia.
he was such a fucking asshole to me, oh my god...his mom was nice enough to take us out to dinner since i didnt have any family out there and he ruined the whole thing!
he was constantly insulting me and finally i freaked out and ran away from the table in tears. we ended up being in that stupid restaurant/hotel/lobby/elevator/all over the freakin place for like, 3 hours because he was chasing me all over the fucking place arguing with me. constantly. no matter how many times he promised he would treat me with more respect, hed instantly retract it to keep the argument going. his mom even had to find us and break it up a few times.
so i say "poo" to the experience of ever eating thanksgiving dinner in a restraunt again. that one time was too damaging

My mom and I did that like two years ago. We went to Sharies in Mill Creek. It was like the best Thanksgiving we ever had. We didnt have to deal with our "drunken" relatives. We laughed our asses off at these people who were sitting next to us. It was a blast. I highly recomend it.
