I'm in need of a job.
Problem is I have nothing to put on a application/resume for current jobs or recent jobs. So it appears I am fresh with no work.
Does anyone have any hooks out there for possible jobs? Or know a manager somewhere that ya might be able to put in a good word for me or sumtin?
Got mad skillz with computers, music, hardware, software, stereo equipment, equipment in general, can do many things lol. Anyways, help me out peepz!!

Who the fuck are you? In the 2 minutes it took you to write that fucking thread you could have been out the door and *bam* lookin for a fuckin job.
Don't expect anyone in this world to help you with anything.
By the way, good luck man, I'm in the same boat.

The problem is, people generally don't need "mad skillz". They need applicable skills. I would make a list of every application you know how to use, what kind of cabling and sound you know how to operate, all the computer OS' you know, and then hit local temp agencies for tech-support style jobs.
If that doesn't work out, your skillsets sound like they fall mostly in general commercial electronics knowledge- have you gone to Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, Fry's, stores like that? Some of those salespeople make pretty decent money, plus phat discounts.
In any case, don't count on just being handed a job- it doesn't happen much. People w/ no experience get jobs by flooding companies with their resumes and letting the laws of probability do the work, hehe. So fill out as many apps as you can, not just one or three.

If nothing else, list ANY of your previous jobs/experience on your resume. Anything helps right now.
Also, if do a search for "resumes" you can find quite a few resume builder websites out there and forums that will help you out in the job search.
Good Luck! Most of us are in the same prediciment whether we have recent experience or not... ;)

I've been trying for I believe 3yrs now actually. It's THAT BAD for me.
I have applied @ Radio Shacks, Big 5's, GI Joe's, QFC, Albertsons, Starbucks, Top Foods, CircutCity, CompUSA, CompuCare, Best Buy, Linens & Things, BABIES R US, Toys R Us, Nordstrum Rack, jus about everywhere in the Alderwood Mall, an the list goes on.
I've had 2 jobs like I said before....worked @ Berlington Coat Factory (left cause of sexual harrasment) & a paper route for 2yrs or so. Neither of which I dont think would help with a job. I did the paper route thing for a while on APPS & it didnt seem to work. Plus I've been in Marketing Essentials & a class/club named DECA which is all about marketing, business, retail, etc.
So I keep on tryin to see how far I can get with this, an I'll continue, hopfully something will come of it. (PS - if no job has been gotten by the end of this month, my rents are kickin me outta the house....yay for me lol)
PPS - the main point to this thread was to see if anyone knew a manager somewhere or something that could possibly help out with a good word or sumtin ya know. But thanx you guys for being nice & not flaming like mad (normal nwtekno posters). I am nicely surprised.

heh....I knew someone would have to mention it sometime...
I absolutly refuse to do a food handeling service job such as McD's, Jack, Wendy's etc. I'll do jus about ANYTHING ELSE, but food handeling.
(Shit, even Subway & Subshop wouldnt hire me...whats that tell ya? lol)
PS - an yes I do dress nicely/accordingly to each job & I call back to ask the manager's about the status of my applications as well with every job. My uncle works with Work Source & he said he'd help me...but I've spent MONTHS there with no success. Hopefully something will come up.
PPS - I'll be sellin some rekkids (classic full album ones) soon as well. So I'll post up about those soon too.

but if your in the position of being kicked out by your parents, you might want to lower your standards until you can find a job that interests you. You don't have to work at Jack in the box forever just for a little while, and if it keeps you with a roof over your head then i think the sacrifice would be worth it.

Yeah, because the world OWES you a better job than that, right? You shouldn't need to work for a better job.
Maybe you should move to italy. (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20020405/ts_nm/life_italy_parents_dc_1)

you know, *some* food service jobs arent all that bad. my first two jobs were with food. well, the first didnt work out that well, but thats not the point. even though i consider myself a horrible clutz who cant do anything right when it comes to food, my 2nd job was at a pizza/sandwich place and it ROCKED. trust me, sandwiches and pizza arent that bad. if nothing 'better' works out you should just start there because its REALY NOT THAT BAD.
ive found myself in your position quite a few times taht ive needed a job...i cant find one for months and im utterly desperate, broke and miserable...when you get to that point, you settle for the first place that calls.
anyways, if youre really not down to walk your ass around town picking up aps for stores around your area, just go to a job service place. they do all the job finding FOR you. you specify your hours and your skills, they find appropriate jobs. the glory is that if you get stuck with a BS job for a day, you dont actually work there, youre just temping. variety, its a good thing.

so here's a small update fer everyone (IF anyone is interested ;)):
My dad took me to WorkSource and like the last hundred times I've been there....no help. Heh, go fig ;)
But anyways, am continueing to look around and hopfully something will come up here soon like I posted earlier. Oh well...
BUT! A student in one of my classes needs help with computing & grammar/english so he might be paying me for helping him (instead of an expensive tutor)...so I may have scored there. sweetums ;)
