??!!??
I'm just a little bit shocked.
Maybe you aren't.
but still...
Edited because I'm figuring out that I should've seen this coming, considering the sheer quantity of participants in the European project. I thought that, for the most part, the scientific community was still sitting around waxing philosophical about this one.

good lord.
i thought the odds of miscarrying a clone were still astronomical, too. maybe things changed recently.
wow.
i don't know what to say.

I came up with an idea one day. When I'm 80, I want to clone myself. Then I want to transplant my brain into my clone's body. By doing this, I'll have a brand new body to run around in. I don't understand why people get all freaked out over human cloning. I think it's great.

I'd hate to be 17 forever, I'd hate to live forever, and I'd hate it if another me was crawling around, desecrating the earth like I do. Cloning just needs to be dealt with sensibly. Soon all countries will be competing with one another over who is the most scientifically advanced, even if they have to do it underground. Scientists don't care about what other people think of what they're doing anyway. They'll do anything for discovery, illegal or not.

I'm not sure how I feel about cloning as a whole...
I'm all for some of the more beneficial aspects, but the problem dwells in restricting the reaches of this cloning issue. When we make parts of it OK, it makes it difficult to regulate exactly to what extent what things can and can't be done.
Then you get the "DON'T PLAY GOD!" argument. We'll just have to wait and see

All I have to say is....
There are some gooood ways to look at cloning... Such as in the usage of possible organs and those what nots that are hard to come by....
But CLONING a human being in the belly of a WOMAN????
FUCKED UP Y0....
I think that cloning is seriously a kinda good thing... Just need to leave the gene's out for the brains of the clone... It to me is NOT human and shouldnt have the abiliy to think and make choices such as we do...
I mean if they can make an INFERTILE woman able to conceive a child... They should be able to make clones with no brains...
I dunno maybe Im talkin outta my ass...
and on another note... FOR SURE Dont be god I TOTALLY agree...

Werd, cloning rules!!! I'll let them make a clone of me as long as I get to keep him. He can do all the crap that I don't want to do. Like go to work for me, and clean my house. He can sleep in the closet if he does a good job. But if he is bad I'm gonna beat him in the face with a shovel and make him sleep on the front porch.

But here's the problem... Your brain is also 80. It would be an 80-year-old brain in a 20-year-old body. You'd be the only kid with Alzheimers. :D

Don't worry, generally your IQ doesn't change over time. Though if you keep it up with the tweek maybe you will need a backup clone in case you drop down into single digits. Luckily no one would ever clone your dumb ass. Retroactive abortion is more like it.
Peace.

LONDON (Reuters) - Scepticism about whether a woman in a controversial cloning program is pregnant results as much from how the news was announced as the capability of the man who claimed it and his refusal to give any details.
When scientists created Dolly the sheep, the world's first cloned mammal, their research was reviewed by other experts and published in a respected scientific journal.
So why if Italian fertility expert Severino Antinori has managed to achieve a pregnancy as a result of human cloning has he refused to confirm or deny the media reports or to clarify exactly what he said?
"If anybody was doing this on a reputable basis they would be putting it into a refereed journal so that people would actually know what was done rather than what could simply be claims to attract publicity," said Dr Harry Griffin of the Roslin Institute in Scotland where Dolly was created.
"It is very difficult to know if there is any substance behind these claims at all," he added.
Antinori made the claim in response to a question during a lecture at the Zayed Center for Follow-up and Coordination, an Abu Dhabi think tank.
"Our project is at a very advanced stage. One woman among the thousands of infertile couples in the program is eight weeks pregnant," Gulf News, an English-language newspaper in the United Arab Emirates, reported Antinori as saying last week.
But it was unclear if he had specifically stated that the pregnancy resulted from cloning and he has subsequently refused to clarify his remark or provide information about the woman or the procedure.
PEER-REVIEW PROCESS
Antinori and his colleague, Dr Panos Zavos of the Andrology Institute of America in Lexington, Kentucky, caused dismay among the scientific community when they announced their intention to clone humans to help infertile couples.
Griffin and other scientists do not know if they have the expertise and believe what they claim to be doing is wholly irresponsible because of the risks of deformities and miscarriage as well as the uncertainties of the long-term health effects of cloning.
Zavos issued a statement saying he was not prepared to comment on the media reports and referred all questions to Antinori.
"Since Dr Antinori made the statement...then Dr Antinori or his office should be the only source that can confirm or deny the accuracy of this report," his office said.
Until the research is published and has been through the peer review process, in which other scientists evaluate the findings, the doubts are likely to continue.
"Anything that isn't peer-reviewed hasn't been hallmarked by the community as the facts that they proclaim," said an editor at a scientific journal, who preferred not to be named.
She said the peer review process is especially important for cloning research because there is so much room for error.
"Unless the paper has been peer-reviewed and the requested controls performed that a respected scientist in the community would ask for, I don't think you can make any such claims," she said.
Griffin echoed her comments.
"There is no evidence that he has done what he had claimed to have done in the past and indeed in many cases he has subsequently contradicted himself," he said.
"It is very difficult to know what to believe."

It definetly has some good points. I mean if you are in a hospital dying needing a transplant, but none are available or they say "I'm sorry, your on the list, if one comes up within the next month we'll let you know". Now they can just clone your organs directly for you.

I'd like to bump Kosmicdog's idea. A stable of clones; pimp them out on Burnside. You could bitch-slap your clone and say, "On your knees clone bitch, and suck your cock!":p

No, You stupid bitch, I have never eaten a human baby. The only baby I have eaten is Veal. And baby peas and corn.
The whole point here is that in your own obtuse dumb bippy bubblegummer bullshit way, you have taken an important and meaningful subject and turned it in to yet another stupid kiddy post.
Again, I challenge you... are you even remotely intelligent enough to form your own opinion about anything?
