Yes what the hell do "ravers" and skateboarders have to do with each other? I do feel sorry for the victim,his family and children however. He was supposedly a very family oriented guy who was very involved in his community. It sucks that these jackass fucks did what they did. But they are just that, jackass-fucks! I hated to see the front page of the times read "man beaten by -skateboarders-" or whatever it was. Skateboarders take enough shit. I don't think it matters what these inhuman pieces of crap did as a hobby, they're just horrible people who happened to commit an assault and possibly (hopefully not) a murder, with a skateboard. Yeah... I kind of agree that using this to justify hating skaters is kind of lame, or at least catagorizing them as this "different tribe" as ravers.

Sure, a lot of skaters I know are fucking pricks, but I know a lot of cool ones as well. It is really hard to make generalizations about them because the only thing that makes somebody a skate-boarder, is that they like to ride around on a piece of wood with wheels.

There are so many different kinds of skaters...like hip-hop kids, punks, long boarding hippies, and yes -- ravers.

Sure, people should send a card if they feel a need though.

As of the news early this morning...the victim apparently died. He had been in a coma and they didn't "pull the plug," he just died. So now it is murder/manslaughter of some sort and not just an assault. Also, they don't seem to know who the kids are...or at least aren't giving much information. The reports had things about what they were wearing (black shirt and jeans for one and a wool hat for the other). And apparently one was 5'9" and one was 5'6" with short brown hair. But that's about it.

I admit, ravers aren't exactly skaters(except for the ravers who do skate), but it's not a bad idea actually. Our community wanting to do something positive for this dead guys's family.....Maybe if we all pitched in for flowers, or we did a car wash or somethin, it'd be one way of saying we care......And you don't have to sit here and argue "it wasn't us....". That's besides the point. Do something if you care......Or do nothing if you could give a rats ass.....It's up to you....

H.D., don't ya think it'd be better to set up an ongoing volunteer organization that does something on a regular basis to help the community, like set up a fund to help poor people pay for funeral expenses? Ah, yay, I love college. I'm taking Law Society & Justice 275: Murder.

Here's what could happen, since he's died.

Murder in the 2nd degree is what the perpetrators'll probably be charged with unless they got a really good lawyer or strike some sort of deal with the prosecution as it was NOT manslaughter. At least, that's what the prosecution will say. They'll argue the kids had 'intent', which is what defines murder in a court of law ("malice and intent"). It is possible that they could get off with manslaughter, but I'm sure the DA won't do that, due to the press this story has received (and why does this story receive press over other stories? heh, well I learned that too in my Murder class, but that's a whole nother post... this character fits into the "worthy victim" category and thus received press).

If he remained in a coma, the attackers had 3 years and a day for him to die and be charged with murder. If he remained in a coma longer than that, they would notnecessarily be charged for his murder if he died (yeah, it's fucked up, but that's the law). just an extra bit of info for y'all.

It is really sad to see "skateboarders" who think that the image that goes with it includes beating the shit out of people and talk shit to whomever if they don't find anything they like about a person. I remember when I would skate outside of fred meyer, there would also be some other "skaters" riding about and when they got in someone's way, that person politely asked them to move, all that did was make them angry, and seeing how they were around their friends, a few of them just had to prove how "cool" they were and starting yelling at the person. Eventually the person went in and told a manager at the store and they called the cops. When they were taking statements from everyone. The skaters seemed to think I was their "homie" and would take their side. Hell, I told them exactly what happened and was able to provide an even better image of someone who skateboards.

We need to start some kind of new trend these "thug skaters" need to follow. Something like N*Sync on wheels. I dunno. Im sick of skater thugs who think they are all that. But its hilarious when trying to watch them talk all thier shit, then see them not be able to ollie off a curb.

I know this little bitch named Sean Harris. He is a fucking awsome skater, but as a person he is a Ass. Even his friends call him little bitch, because he treats eveyone like shit, I was friends with him and after about a month of really hanging with him, I wanted to punch him in the teeth. If you didn't skate you didn't count to him, I used to be an awsome skater, untill I fucked my leg up real good. I don't walk with a limp or anything, but if I started skating again and hurt it, I would be in a wheel chair, so I started dancing.

Sean couldent understand this, he treated me like shit because I didn't skate anymore.

There are tomany Sean's out there, and it is bullshit that they do this crap. It dosent matter what you do, as long as you treat people with respect.

So now it seems that there was more to this whole story than thought. Supposedly this guy who was unfortunately killed, got out of his car and started the altercation. Supposedly this "good guy" has a history of assault. The family of one of the accused seems to beleive that this was done in self defense If so, its terrible that this guy was killed and I think that this situation could have been handled differently, but this was a big guy and I know if I were to be confronted by a large individual who was threatening me with physical harm, I would do anything necessary to defend myself. I don't mean to condone anything, but if some guy twice your size came after you what would you do? I guess we'll just see what happens. As far as people thinking "skaters" in general are bad people, thats just as ridiclous as saying that anybody that plays baketball is a bad person. If you think that skaters are rude or just bad people in general than I guess all I can say is FUCK YOU!!! plain and simple, FUCK YOU!!!

yeah, like some other people said, i skated for years and neither me or any of my friends i skated with would ever pull that shit. we may have done a lot of illegal/fucked up shit, but beating the fuck out of somebody was not in our repertoir. some people are just dicks, be they "ravers" "skateboarders" "jocks" or whatever other labels people seem to always put on each other. labels aren't cool, because innocent people get lumped in with some other fuckers that just happen to suck.
