Oh, don't be such movie snobs. ;p
The original french film was good, true. But Point Of No Return still had some good points to it. And I meant the american TV series that started airing on the USA channel several years ago.

La Femme Nikita=the worst piece of trashy art ever made. It gets neither a thumbs down or a thumbs up because it confuses the fuck out of me. I'll stick to Bladerunner, thanks.

i really have major issues with television....but we had cable a while back and i've got to admit when i happen across the ole nikita i was sprung like i used to be....i don't know what it is about that show because it really isn't all that great, but i love it. kinda like star treck used to be way back in the old days...lame in many respects but it somehow kept me coming back? um, ok maybe i shouldn't have so readily admitted that but...:0)

I like the music in it...there are some classic ghetto 80's drumtracks in the score.
The Russian dude who takes out half of the world's police forces is pretty impressive too.

wtf is everyone talking about buttons and shit for? La Femme Nakita rocked, Point of No Return sucked my zit-encrusted, puss-oozing ass. could you more completely destroy a good movie in a remake? i dont watch tv, but i can already tell you the show sucks.
and no, the professional had nothing to do with la femme nakita. bitchin movie tho.

ok, they don't directly have anything to do with each other... at least not as individual films...
but they are, in fact, both directed by luc besson. and do, as a result of this, and as a result of the movement much french cinema was taking at that time, both fall into the category that some call the "cinéma du look," which is characterized by constant action & visual & auditory stimulation. these films are complex and sometimes confusing, but always very visually and auditorally dense and surprising. lots of bright colors, crazy shots... etc. you get the idea.
and i've never seen the show either, cuz i imagine it would only make me sad... i do love that movie, though...

If you like strange and unusual flicks, i would strongly suggest Japanese films. "Realm of The Senses" is one of the many, but then it's also the only film which was prohibited in Japan until a couple of years ago for strong sexual content. Funny thing, though, that it's actually about OBSESSION bordering on insanity and has a much deeper meaning to it than just sex. Also, try "Dreams" by Kurosawa Akira...
blah, blah, i talk too much. As far as NIkita goes, i love the movie. the series, though, DOES make me wanna go out and RAVE!
