So, I was watching TV Monday morning... all of sudden I saw this ad for an auditioning downtown Seattle for pop stars (like the TV show that made Eden's Crush)! http://www.fox.com/idol

It's not like I can sing but this is my chance to be a rock super star with five cars... So, I woke up stroll down the hill and I was amazed at the long line and people coming in all the way from Portland!

Argh... I got a stupid job so I took off early and couldn't even possibly have gone today. O, if it weren't for this job I'd be a superstar ;)! Anyone else here went to the auditioning?

I watched a little of the first show and was really amazed to actually see how people are chosen in the pop industry. It really is based all on looks. I remember some of the best voices being booted off because they weren't a size 10 and below.

It's pretty cool how you dont need any talent to be a singer anymore.

i saw that show once too. there was a girl with an absolutely beautiful voice, but the judges talked a bunch of shit to her just because her eyes were closed. "you arent singing to US! youre singing to YOURSELF! this is an audition to be a POP star! you cant be a pop star with those characteristics! wheres your dancing!?" but they did gave her another chance.

some of the people they picked were sad though.

and size ten? try like, a size 6.

I can't sing but I made it through the first round so what does that say about me ;).

What really urks me about these kind of shows is that it proudly flaunts the way the pop music industry works, yet the millions upon millions of people who watch it don't pick up on the fact that it's just a popularity contest. I'd like to see the record companies manufacture a band to rival the quality in the ballpark of Depeche Mode.

I haven't watched this show, but from what I gather, it ain't about the music. Pop is not about the music. Plus by the time you win, the general public is so sick of you that you'll be wishing you took an alternative route to your success.

As far as the show goes i have been finding myself watching it .. just too see if there are really any good singers out there.. i kinda feel for the judges though .MOST of those people are bad really bad.. and then alot of them were awsome.!

I totally watch this show (a new weekly thang ~ curled up with my boy, puppy & a phatty on my futon) It's my big-dark-secret... inno... it's sick. But it's better than 3/4 of your sheit on the confessional thread, so I'm comming "out." That's right. Carley with no-cable who "never watches television" has managed to catch EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN IDOL EPISODE THIS SEASON (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

The other day there were some size 12+ grrrls with ***AMAZING*** (like "*gaping mouth* DAMN!!!! style") voices that got in... not that I know... um..... ack!!!

Not afraid to admit it. Last season - I was rooting for Kelly & she won! The hometown girl with the big voice & the (not size 10) big hips won! PLUS - I went & saw them perfom at the Rose Garden a few months ago...it was great! Everyone (except Justin Guarini) kicked ass & had MAD TALENT. I admit this happily & will be a devout fan from now on.
