View Full Version : Ive hit a roadblock, need info.

Hey everyone, This is what I have been busy working on lately(other than work). My instructor at school really likes it, he says its low enough polygons to play in an Xbox game. It is for my Intermediate 3d animation class this quarter, this is the character without textures, and not "boned" yet (helpers that make the mesh deform for animation) I havent drawn out the storyboard for the animation, let alone animated him yet, but when I do ill post the link on this thread.
Anyways, I cant think of how I want to texture him if anyone can think up any sort of apparel or color scheme please say so I am stuck.

i like it but whats up with the right pant leg? it billows out on the bottom in the front and that looks really unnatural..

the pants were a bitch, they are actually beingscrunched up by a legwrap that isnt textured on the lower leg and foot yet. so it falls forward, also both the shots are at slight angles, but the legs are both perfectly symmetrical. This is still early, lots more needs to be fixed, like the feet need to point outward to support his body and his fingers arent long enough, and he has no ears as of yet, although I may not need them because of the hat. -Jeremy-

Give him some really rough leather neck skin. This looks like he'd be the type that would have been in the sun alot. Also, his pants would look pretty traditional in dark brown, with a silver hat (I'm guessing his hat is silver).

good idea :) I dont ever think I have ever seen a sunburn with peeling skin done ona character before though it may sound gross it would be very different and I can do the flakes with a bumpmap thanks dude :)

Make his clothes all shitty looking so he looks like the quake one guy from Team Fortress. Have grenades all pixelled in on his clothes and blurred out... Ya that'd be neat.

Sweet Bro!!! Your a good modeler man!!. I'm going to take the animation path in a few months but I'm not 100% sure if I should stay on the 3D Max side or learn Maya instead. Which apps are you using? I suppose I can adapt (to the other) after I get my learn on for one of them Huh?
As for textures, I suggest try watching some old chinese fighting movies or some anime for some inspiration, Also, then go through some National Geographics or some girly 'InStyle' type magazines etc. and they have Mad textures for you to scan.

Thats sweet we should hang out sometime, I use 3d studio max 4.2, the whole character is box modeled from my conceptual drawings, and At my school they will teach me maya so I know max and am going to learn maya. Maya is more of a nurbs/ spline form of modeling program so I will need to get used to that, but it shouldnt be too bad. Thanks for advice and you are added. -Jeremy-

I've created what can only be described as the most perfect flesh tones/textures. they're flawless. PM me if you want me to email them to you. =)
