Save Futurama!

This petition has been around for a while now, but no one has made a post about it yet so I figured now's the time!
Futurama has been put on hold (and from the looks of it Fox wants to make it forever).
There is currently a petition going around the internet to save this comic gem:

Considering the Simpsons' contract runs out next year I think Futurama's our only hope for continued cartoon goodness. If all the writers and producers from the Simpsons moved over to Futurama there's no telling how good it could get.
So come out and show your support by signing this petition and don't let the Groening legacy stop with the Simpsons!

I really hate family guy, Fox seems to target the under 95 IQ croud now-a-daze.
Not that I watch TV anyways but I'll be sad to see Futurama go, I really like it.
And if they stop making new episodes then, I cant download the new ones.

Wow. I wouldn't have considered myself part of the "moron contingency" before this day (oh, who am I kidding... yes I would). I for one fucking LOVE Family Guy. It's so cracked out and so far out in left field that you have to be sitting in left field's parking lot to see where it's coming from. I think that show is genius... but so is Futurama. Can't a person love both?

Regardless, I'm signing the petition. Once The Simpsons boat sets sail, Futurama will take over very nicely.

The Family Guy is a brilliant cartoon. The jokes and refences on that show are down right out there and hillarious. Half of the comedy on there the average WWF viewer would never figure out even with help from his 12 cousins. But for these people the Dad was all about the off beat bathroom humor and obscure ramblings...just to round out the show.

Futurama kicked ass too tho. Was always working when this was on TV so I only got to watch it 6 or 7 times. Matt Groening is a genius. *signs petition*

I'm definitely not a Futurama fan, but I absolutely adore family guy...although there were character concept issues that were rather annoying.

Futurama wasn't much better though. I guess I'm a spoiled product of the Simpsons generation; the humour didn't seem 'biting' enough.

My beef with Family Guy:

1. Shameless carbon copy of The Simpsons.

2. Many of the jokes were no better than the average Married With Children gag.

3. Made numerous inappropriate jokes about jews and women that went far beyond the morally grounded school of South Park shock humor.

4. Had predictable storylines that borrowed from every possible sitcom cliché.

But that's just me. Don't take it personal if you like Family Guy. I didn't take Sondr's murderous stabbing of Futurama personally, or any other of the comments made about Futurama.
Besides, I think the whole "Family Guy vs. Futurama" agrument is pointless anyway. What the hell does Family Guy have to do with Futurama???

-uumyeah I brought it up because there was a similar petition to save Family Guy a few moths ago. I never intended for this to be a vs. deal, but it kinda keeps turning back into one.
-Just for the record I happen to be a huge Simpsons fan. Thats probably a big reason why I liked family guy. Futurama came out and it never really followed through. Apparently family guy didnt either (cause Im pretty sure they arent making any new episodes), but for a while there I think it was intended to be a new version of the simpsons, perhaps to appeal to the same crowd(maybe thats why you think it was such a shameless carbon copy)-the Simpsons has been on air for how longwhat?
-blablabla, it borrowed story lines and crap, but it was the content kept me comin back. Come on now, do you really tune into futurama for the story lines? Or do you just watch to make sure that the jokes arent getting to that "married with children" level?
-As far as the shock humor being worse then South Park, Im not to sure if Id agree with that either...have you seen that show lately? I can see what youre saying about the morally grounded aspect of the show, but I dont know if Family Guy crosses the kinds of lines that South Park does on a regular basis. You cant really pigeon-hole Family Guy for making derogatory jokes about jews or women like that without examining the lines that shows like the Simpsons cross though either.
