..What The Fuck is it with closing all these forums cause "people post about NOTHING", or "posting random shit" well... WTF is this SITE for? I don't see how its okay for people to talk about going to a rave getting all fucked up and fucking some girl they don't even know, but yet posting about your favorite color or random shit is worthless and that's why the forum has to be closed??

i actually post on 3 diffrent message boards (when im bored, or when i want advice on things and what not) .. and on all teother boards or sites i've been to you can talk about ANYTHING from going to grandma's and eating dinner and the mac & cheese being cold to souping up your honda....i've been to 3 diffrent forums and they have ALL BEEN "LOCKED" by one MOD..and its cause of "RANDOM SHIT" .. i think its cause that one MOD is feelnig left out or just wants attention like they are getting now...but it just pisses me off.
What's the point of having a website with message boards you cant even POST ON???? and it was on the OFF TOPIC DISCUSSION!!!!!

The point is that we have 7500+ users, each of whom has his or her own "random shit" they want to talk about. Without some sort of organization and standards, it quickly degenerates into a whole lot of shouting over each other with the end result of no one being heard at all.
So we ask that you have a a solid idea. A theme. A core concept for your thread. Something that can inspire discussion. Furthermore, we ask that it be original (at least to this board). Is that so much?
And, as I pointed out in the other "OMG WTF MODS SUX0R" thread, you can always contact the moderator who locked the thread if you want to discuss why it was locked, and why you think it shouldn't be. However, the kind of ranting you are exhibiting here is not going to change ANYTHING because we do things this way for some very good reasons that are well-outlined in the guidelines and rules, if you care to read them.

Hell yeah, about time we get some action in the underrated and under-utilized "Questions, Comments & Bugs" forum...

Anyway, Moderators lock it down 'cuz that's their job. So in the immortal words of Tupac Amaru Shakur, "back the fuck up before you get smacked the fuck up." If people post shit about the sour milk they had to put in their cereal or the fact that one of the eyeholes on their Etnies was ripped out, I personally think that's a waste of time/space/moderator resources.

I don't, however, think people should be banned or even berated for miscellaneous, insignificant threads - we've all done it, and once people are on here long enough, they'll learn. 'Hazing' might be a little over the top, though.

How can a mod be a mod if he/she doesn't follow "the rules". We're told not to create threads, but HexRei lets many stay open and locks mine. Granted, it was a joke, but countless others stay open. If they're against the rules, they are. But if one stays open, they all should. If people don't care, it'll go to page two in a few hours. The end.

"Do not create list threads" is a general rule because the majority of list threads are completely inane. In the few instances where a list thread is created that is original and discussion-oriented or board-relevant, it is left open.
We created the rules with a specific purpose in mind, and I enforce them according to that purpose, not the letter of the rule.

there really aren't any hard & fast rules for moderators, other than i ask them not to delete threads unless they are spam (the same thread posted over and over in multiple forums, or the same person creating a billion threads in one forum, etc)
