So I was up late last night and was watching MTV for the first time in about ten months and I saw an advertisement for Human Traffic. It appears that they're finally releasing it in the US. I saw it in Ireland last summer and it was the funniest movie I've ever seen. It's not like Trainspotting or Go, no matter what the critics say. The critics are idiots. This movie is fabulous and I recommend that everybody goes to see it images/smilies/smile.gif

cheers & love,

I don't know who's in it or who the director is, but it's utterly fantastic. It's not like Trainspotting because Trainspotting left me with a feeling of wonder about why critics called it a "rave movie". Same with Go. Just trust me on this (even though you don't know me) images/smilies/smile.gif

Human Traffic is funny and it's out on video now. :) Another worth checking out is a movie called Late Night Sessions (also about the rave scene) - you Seattle kids may be especially interested in this movie since some of it takes place around Seattle.

Funny, I rented this movie like 4 months ago, but have never been able to find it in a store to purchase it.

Good Flick! Leaves you with that "I can relate" feeling. Funny as hell at times too. And Carl Cox can be a scary MoFo!

Peace -
K

I first saw this movie, last christmas, while visiting my parents.... needless to say I didnt watch with my parents... no way they arent to open minded... but n e way...

I watched the movie while fixin up some gingerbread cookies in the kitchen ...ha

The movie is great, never loses its energy and u feel hyped up jus watchin it...

it also shows the difference between United States and UK party scene...

My favorite part would have to be the record store scene...

yup yup
...if you havent seen it yet check it out!!!

by the way... I dont think Go was a party movie at all...and The Groove (movie) wasnt to great either, I enjoyed the soundtrack (mixed by wish fm) better

I believe the movie's been out for over a year. It's a shame it takes forever to have it pass overseas, for christ's sake it's not like they had and voice-overings to do.

jesiah, i thought the same thing. i remember the night i first met dan, we tried to go see this movie.

**Tee hee heeee... ho ho, haa**... Oh Human Trafic, how do I love thee?

Just a little side story... I have a dear dear friend who is 24, going on 10, (he's so naive and innocent... still lives with his folks, never had a girlfriend). The boy decided he wanted to check out a rave, and try e, and all that, and recruited me to help "guide him" (hoy hoy hoytee hoy!). So, for weeks beforehand, he prepared, (just like the Little Brother in Human Traffic) collececting mp3's of Keoki and Paul Oakenfold, reading up on the side-effects of MDMA, familiarizing himself with the cultural jargon, etc. He asked me what to expect, and so on, to which I replied, "Expect to be sore the next day, and hungry, expect dark shady spots, brightly lit spots, shiny smiling faces full of glitter, dirty trippin' peeps on the floor, lovely folks in brightly colored clothes dancing like you've never seen dancing, huge pupils and big beautiful speakers with the kinda bass that will press your clothes against your body... other than that, it's not an arena for expectations", and to illustrate the range, I had him rent Groove (blecht, silly movie) and Human Traffic as part of his home work.

We decided to take dude to a mellow party for his first, so if anyone was at Exdodus not long ago, he was the very large man runnin' around, flowing through the crowd with that look of "Holy Trance-Anthem, man!" hugging everyone (he never hugs!) and dancing his 6'2" 240lb ass off like it was the end of the world (he never dances).

He's been to two other parties since then, and doesn't really persue 'em or the scene, but he still watches Human Traffic religiously, every other week or so, it gives him the giggles, he says. :D

It was here in PDX for the film festival last year . . . and has been out on video for quite a while.

Personally, I thought it was too self-conscious.

I just wanted to report that unfortunately, us Americans got the less funny version of the movie. I saw it in the UK summer of '99, and laughed and laughed and laughed.

I saw it again when it was released in the US last year, but it wasn't quite as funny. Then I realized they'd cut several scenes, some of pivotal character scenes such as Moff being a speed dealer (explains a lot).

My boyfriend actually had the opportunity to interview Justin Kerrigan, the director, and he reported that the scenes were cut simply because American audiences "wouldn't get it."

Too bad! It's still a hilarious movie.

3 - at that movie theatre where all those guys were doin' the robot.
4 - the main character while working at that store... mmm hmm. i started crying laughing so hard... i did!

The jungle track was by Aphrodite. I'm not sure who the hip hop was by though.

i figured it was Aphrodite, but every website i found last night said something else, when i saw the actual soundtrack listing, i couldn't tell by the names of the tracks but figured it must have been aphrodite. anyway. the hip hop track is obviously going to be banned, there's real prison sounds in the background lol
