Its a creepy jewish ritualistic type greeting where your relatives get to sort of knead/lightly touch/massage hands, arms, etc.

It makes me want to vomit when the old people do it.

Nah, its fine to open at work, as long as your boss isn't standing over your shoulder. Nothing you wouldn't see on cable tv.
