You may or may not know this, but I take a vitamin B complex to keep myself relaxed during the day. Usually, the amount of Vitamin B ranges from 3,000% RDA to about 300%. It basicly helps with concentration and relaxes me so I don't feel like I have tight strings attached to my back.
I started taking this supplement regularly since late 1996. The brand I bought first was GNC.
At the same time, I began experiencing what most describe as "sleep paralysis", where you are awake, but you can't move. I didn't correlate the condition to what I was taking at the time. But last year, I bought a couple packs of Vitamin B complex of another company and I had the pleasure of noting that the seizures had stopped.
I still wasn't quite convinced that GNC Complex supplements was doing this, so I bought another pack or GNC about six months ago. The siezures started back up again. I'm not sure what the exact cause of this would be...maybe something having to due with the way the tablets are stored or made to stay in one shape.
But I thought I'd just warn those of you out there.

I don't know shit about bio, but I've gleaned from those that do that taking vitamin B supplements is not a good idea. Apparantly, it gets stored up in your muscles or something, and not just washed out like vitamin C. I know you can get a form of vitamin B poisoning from excess, but I don't know any details about it.
Anyway, thanks for the warning. I wonder if its all vitamin B or if its just GNC being shifty.

It's You Axe....Not GNC, and Not Vitamin B Complex!!
If YOU have a seizure disorder, then you need to see a Doctor and get the proper medicine prescribed for your disorder...
Vitamin B, is Vitamin B!!
GNC carries the best Vitamin Products available, and they DON'T cause seizures.
Maybe instead of the Vitamin B your taking Axe, you should consider some of the other things that you put in your body as a pre-cursor to your seizures, and stop trying to place the blame on an excellent company that only offers the VERY best in Nutritional supplements!!

So, is there any research to back this, or do we have just your anecdotal evidence? Have you looked for other accounts of other people suffering similar effects?
Without a controlled study this could be a lot of things.

Nope. My own veritable research. The timing of the seizures is perfectly within the windows of when I used the GNC product.

Basically this is what's happened to me. I don't have anything further than my own experience, but what I've done seems to hold up.
Also, GNC may have changed their product line-up within the last year or so to gel tabs. I'm not sure how much better they are, but the brand they had from 1997-2001 is what I've had experience.

Well it certainly sounds suspicious. But lots and lots of people take GNC supplements... it could be something as simple as you being allergic to a binding agent or pill casing or dye or something.

Good point Hex. Axe, it could be just a illergic reaction to the supplement or the excess of it.

im taking a non gnc brand b complex, and im fine yo. i actually used to work at GNC and all the products i used from them never affected me negativley, although i cant take iron whcih comes from a synthetic source or i get sick, but thats me. i have another frend who takes the b vities regularly as well, ( i dont think it is gnc either) and she has had positive affects, (effects or affects? im craqued out) anywho, who wants to take the GNC b vitis and compare results??? i think it truly may be a reaction to something synthetic or that you are allergic to in the vities, AXE. read the ingrediants, especially binders and such. just a lil thought, <3lizz

i get "sleep paralysis" all the time, and it scares the shit out of me. i had no idea it was considered a seizure...fuck. this isn't happy news to me.
for myself though, it's not caused by the vitamin.
