how about some avatars?

i don't know if you've had this discussion but-

how about avatars for posters? you know, lil tiny pictures to identify people. you can turn them off if you are on dialup. i think it would really help remember people (there's over 8000!). every other message board ive been on had them, just wondering if theres a particular reason you guys don't use them.

I saw another board somewhere that used vBulletin and they had avatars enabled. It looked badass. It'd be a whole new world if we had them here. So many more people would meet up at parties since they'd seen pix in some cases.

I could imagine it'd take up a little more space and bandwidth. I hope the opt for em anyway.

vbulletin does have the option to have avatars. i just wonder how much it would slow down the speed overall...

i'll post a poll about it... i kinda like avatars, but i also like quick speed... hate it when a site takes forever to load.

if you have avatars they automatically-pretty-much have that option. so yeah. if ppl are THAT against it, just have NO AVATARS as default and allow fast people to change it. i dont see the counter-argument yet!!! platinum knows what im talking about...

I think it would be better if we had avatars.. I'm personally too lazy to check peoples profiles and further more, it would encourage more people to participate if they saw that other people had em when they viewed forums.

you can choose whether or not you want them to be displayed in your preferences if it is setup right... it's not hard to set up, vbulletin is one of the most user friendly and stable forum scripts.

i think that it is a good idea, and it is something people can turn off if they don't want them displayed. i know people still use ghetto dialup so that is understandable :P

yeah.... avatars do little but piss me off :)
I really don't like having anoying flashing things right next to the text all the time. Plus, the extra load it would place on the servers might trigger those problems we were having a while ago again. Grrr.
