Why does everyone on this board only want to go to NAF?? Why not try out a more underground event...if ya look on the uncoming events on kim's page you'll find out about the plethora of events going on...

there is nothing happening at naf this
weekend to my knowledge.

I would suggest Paradox on friday or within the ocean on Saturday. Im going to within the ocean for sure. I think it will be really cool, and a way better vibe than any naf party (just my opinion). anyways, hope you find your groove.

a better vibe then naf... until the "naf crowd" is brought to these parties... a space is a space. whether its naf, the lish, artificial limb, or the USC warehouse. what ads the most impact is who is promoting the party, how they go about throwing their party, and what crowd they draw. if you have a room full of consumer based folk who are only looking to get high, and what they can *GET* out of an event (what i see most often at large parties) you will create the same vibe as one of those large parties.
there is something to be said for wanting to share the underground with everyone (i know i always do), but when that happens, its no longer underground. just look at the past year in the seattle scene. look at the countless "underground" outdoor parties that have gotten busted this year. the parties like "you gots to lookup to get the hookup" at ALC- that party at the lish a few weeks back that got busted and the promoters ran off with all the cash...
these are all examples of people throwing "massive undergrounds." from what i have seen, on one hand it destroys the more mainstream underground parties, but pushes the more hidden parties even further underground. so, i guess it has both positive and negative aspects (in my oppinion of course)
its gotten to the point where when i throw parties i am actually *afraid* to use an infoline, or set a stack of flyers in the record stores. but then again, this is just me, and i will shut up now.
Sorry I said that muschi. I guess Im not that good at articulating my thoughts sometimes. I totally agree with what you are saying though.

back to the space doesn't matter argument ;)
i think naf definitely has its own "vibe"
regardless of the crowd who are there..
it feels different to dance in a crowded warehouse than to dance under the stars in the woods than to dance in a ballroom than to dance in the desert, etc. etc.
i find naf as a space (regardless of anything else) pretty uncomfortable & unappealing...
that's just me though

Well anyway I am the guy who wrote the
original post. It looks like the topic
got changed a little so i'll give my
one cent. I've only been to NAF twice
now and I think that it does have sort
of weird vibes, perhaps because of the
environment or maybe the people or maybe
it's just me? But at the same time I
also think that alot of it is because before
I went there alot of people told me it had
a weird vibe.....I don't know if you've
heard much about cognitive learning but
it sort of means that if everyone or a
alot of people say the NAF has a wierd vibe
it is most likely to seem that way. When
I am at a party and something or someone
is strange I will usually try to help or
just steer clear,so I guess what I am
trying to say is NAF is sort of what you
and everyone else makes of it just like
anywhere else. But thats just my opinion.
Spread the love,P*L*U*R* "LATERS" eric:)

i agree that your attitude strongly
influences your experiences. i also
agree it's possible to have fun at naf.
but i have more fun when i feel like
the people throwing/involved with the
event care about the culture as more
than just a money-making venture...
