Ali just got a job being a "caregiver". Which means she plays checkers before she scrubs old person ass. She's been doing this sort of work all through highschool for the VA, but this is her first "real job". She is used to old people, and really gets along with them well.
I am pretty much the opposite.
I (for the most part) cannot stand old people, like over 70 or so. Everyone says they have been through so much, and they have so much knowledge to impart, blah blah blah...
My experience with most old people is that they are stuck in their ways, racist for the most part, and always have a stick up their ass about most everything. If we are supposed to value these people, and have their knowledge imparted on us, than how come we don't know any of them? Yeah, you know you grandmother, but do you chill with her? I bet you just watch wheel of fortune and get the hell out of there.
90% of old people are grumpy and don't like us.
Im gonna be the coolest old man on the block :D

I work in a craft store, so I come across a lot of old people... and to be honest, they're pretty cool! Most often they're very friendly and polite and actually do have pretty interesting stories. As for my grandparents, they live in Southern California, so I don't get to see them very often, but when I do, it's a real treat. They're hilarious and they do all kinds of interesting things. One of my grandmothers likes to gamble, so she goes to Nevada every few weeks. The other one is just the kindest woman I know. My grandfathers are/were amazing people, very special. And my step-grandfather is crazy (but in a good way). He threw a remote control at my brother once. Good times. ;)

Sondr's grama: I wish I had a way to be in touch with all the grandchildren and be able to see pictures, and I just can't afford these phone bills!
Sondr: Well grama, you know we could get you a computer and an internet connection, you could have that cheaply and easily.
SG: well, I just dont understand this stuff and I don't want to bother!
Sondr: That's what you said about the VCR, and that took you three hours to learn!
SG: This stuff is too much for me!
Sondr: Grama, you drive a big truck every day, you were a book keeper for over 40 years, you regularly change your own oil, and you practice shooting a 38 on a regular basis, how hard could it be?!?
SG: I'm just not interested.

Oh man do I know that one. My grandmother (who lives in Michigan thankfully) is so deadset in her ways, she has problems using a cordless phone.
I worked in a Model Train store for a couple years, and about 60% of the people who come in there are over 65. Some of them are pretty cool, but I've met some of the most senile, condecending, holier-than-thou assholes in there too. I tell ya, if you even want to see some freeky people, hang around a hobby shop for a couple of hours.

I work at a gas station in a town that is full of old people.
They are racist, demanding, stuck in their ways, and have sticks up their asses about everything.
So, I am given the pleasure of dealing with these nasty fuckers ALL THE LIVELONG DAY!
They complain, they don't tip, and they bark orders. "Wash my windshield, when the pump clicks off, don't pump any more, I want a cash reciept and a credit reciept...you forgot my dog's biscuit."
After about 2 customers like that, I usually get the urge to either A) Rip the gas hose out of the pump, and use it as a whip, and smash the heavy metal end into their windshields, crashing through it and destroying the decrepit senile person inside, or B) Pulling them out of their vehicles, stomping on their dog's heads...breaking their legs, and then beating their skulls in with squeegees.
Ugh.

Ive done some care taking jobs and really enjoyed it. I refuse to whipe someone's ass, I just gave them their meds and what not. It really puts things into perspect when you take care of someone so old and then they pass away. It just made me appreciate my youth and my life. However unless you are really pationate about helping people, I would tell anyone not to go into nursing. You work really hard and are usually under paid.

Old people in my family rock.
My grandpa and his brother, Natoli, used to tell us the best stories ever. Imagine 2 men in there 80's sitting around, talking about how back in high school they were both "banging the same chick". Grandpa and Grandma hid there wedding from both of their families until Grandma got pregnant because their families didn't approve of each other. (Romeo and Juliet-esque, without any death). And Uncle Natoli was in the mafia, and that's all i can say about that ;)
When I was younger, I used to take vases filled with flowers to the old-folks home where my sisters husband worked. I thought it was fun to go visit the old people and take them flowers!

I don't have beef with old folks unless they're driving. It drives me fuckin' batty when they cut me off because they're too blind, deaf, and shrunken to tell that I'm there, so I give a short, polite "Beep!" to let them know that I'm there so that they won't damn near kill me in some other way, and they have the nerve to slam on their breaks and shake fists at me!!! Grrrrr.....
There's this guy at my work who was bitching the other day about how he has to take a driving test every year from this point on to assure that he still can. This guy is partially blind, very deaf from working with loud machines all his life, and he can't stand up straight. I have a hard time understanding how he passed this most recent test, much less how he'll manage in the future. My favorite part of his rant was when he claimed that driving was his right, blah, blah, blah.....Yet he doesn't think I should be driving company trucks because I'm a 20yr old female!!! I wanted to beat him.

Not me! I went down to Portland and some kid comes out to pump my gas. Just being naturally careful, I didn't want anyone with "perfect trip" on their hoody touching my car, so I went to another pump. Kid follows me, and tells me it's now the law. WTF? Bring that shit up to Seattle! :D

Well, I meet just as many stuck in thier ways, slow, racist, stupid young people as I do old people. I have found a lot of old people to be pretty cool. Their bitter stories make me laugh. I know a lot of seriously white trash old people though so I'm sure that makes some difference.
yesterday i met a coolest gramma: i park near my friends house, i get out, and there's that 80-year old lady barely walking across the street, and she's all like - you got a nice car... She actually cared :) so sweet
the majority of old people tho are the Fuckin Irritatingly Slow Drivers - that's all i have to say :)

Old people are very set in their ways which is cool sometimes but mostly leads to anger and frustration from the younger people. I have no real beef with them unless they're driving. Then I want to rip my hair out (or their's for that matter).

70-year old George went for his annual physical. All of his tests came back with normal results. Dr.Smith said, "George, everything looks great physically. How are you doing mentally and emotionally? Are you at peace with yourself, and do you have a good relationship with God?"
George replied, "God and me are tight. He knows I have poor eyesight, so he's fixed it so that when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom *poof* the light goes on, when I'm done *poof* the light goes off."
"Wow!" commented Dr. Smith, "That's incredible!"
A little later in the day Dr. Smith called George's wife.
"Ethel," he said, "George is doing fine. Physically he's great. But, I had to call because I'm in awe of his relationship with God. Is it true that he gets up during the night and *poof* the light goes on in the bathroom, and then when he is through *poof* the light goes off?"
Ethel exclaimed, "Oh, my God! He's pissing in the refrigerator again!"

::SOUND HORNS:: HERE COME JAYSON TO OLD PEOPLE'S DEFENSE
Okay yeah old people smell bad, are rude, talk down to us, tell us to take our peircings out, don't understand our music, lifestyles and what not. THE REASON WE HAVE WHAT WE HAVE IS BECAUSE OF THEM.
Fuck I used to go live with my grandparents every summer. I got to hang out with them and their friends (uh yay).
One of thier friends showed me the bullet hole scars he has in his back from WW2 (pronounced Dubya Dubya two if yer old).
Told me stories of freeing concentration camps. Watching his best friend get shot and whoring in Paris...Our closest expirience to that (some rare exceptions) are friends getting arrested for posession/distrubution.
My grandfather told me stories of growing up in the Great Depression. Having to fight to eat every day....While we spend 20 dollars to get into a party, eat at taco bell and never worry where we're gonna get our next meal.
There were DRESSCODES back then. We have tatoos, pierciangs, all of u girls go out looking like wh0res and us guys go out looking like slobs.
As far as Racism. That's how they were brought up. Segregation wasn't history. IT was a WAY OF LIFE. You should here him talk about the japanese. I find it funny because Koreans and Japanese have a histry of disliking eachother. "At least yer dad didn't marry a Jap. Half Korean grandchildren are okay. A half Jap grandchild n I dunno what I'd do."
They paved the road for our lives of excess.
If anyone has a right to be bitchy, rude and mean it's them. Sure as fuck isn't us. This is wierd coming from my mouth. Cuz I'm the most disrespectful fuck I know.
We haven't done shit yet, as a collective. Our grandparents have made this country what it is. With thier blood, sweat and LIVES. They've been part of the WORLD BEING MOLDED. The world has it's faults but it's sure as fuck better then it was 100 years ago. 70 years ago people were rioting to EAT. and FEED thier familys HERE. Now we riot and get pissed off because people on the other side of the world don't have what we have.
Let's appreciate them, for allowing us to have the arrogance spoken here....

When I was in jail, and my great grandmother would come to see me, I would make her say cuss words and tell her if she didn't I wouldn't talk to her.
It was a funny game we played.
