N i i i i i i ce show.
First off, shout to Wordsayer & Kylea for laying down the good vibes; I'm never one to single out the Master(s) of Ceremonies unless they suck, but I gotta hand it to you two - I really felt the tween set action and everything you kept throwing out there. Love indeed.
As for the show, Icon was pretty sick. At least with the freestyle. Blindfolded? Damn kid, I guess that Philly really is on some next shit. I think they kinda fucked up the mic level on some of the tracks, though - I couldn't really hear too well throughout.
Onry Ozzborn - I gotta say I wasn't feeling it too much; I know they're some Seattle cats and I should show love locally, but it pissed me off when they went into freestyle and basically ripped verses (guys - don't finish each other's lines if you say its a 'freestyle' and DEFINITELY don't insult me afterward by saying 'YEAH - OFF THE DOME.')
Those other Seattle cats, Vitamin D were cool. Good energy, way to warm the crowd for upcoming. Not really my style of HH, though - sounded kinda like J5 minus Chali T.
Now. . . that motherfucker One Man Army set the shit off! Fuckin L.I.F.E., huh? Better believe I'm hitting that. I'm mad impressed with the charisma and attitude, especially playing solo (no DJ, no cohort - truly One Man). This fucking eMCee can rip, yo.
And the main event - J-Live. Good set. I honestly expected a better track selection (where was Longevity? Where was Wax Paper?) but when he got behind the wheels and spun as well as flowed Braggin' Writes, I knew our man was in the house. From that point on - complemented by the surprisingly obsequious Wordsworth - the show hit me. . .but throwing out tracks It's Like That Anna & Traveling Man & Charmed Life could have been a downfall. All of the Above;) are dope tracks, but leave those for the headphones. This is a show - get it LIVE, J! No dis at all; I left with a great taste in my mouth, especially when Gift of Gab shot one up at the end.
Too bad the damn HH shows in Sea always start so early. I got out of the show and it was barely 9. That's kinda weak, but for a good show I can't complain:D
***Edited to reflect Big Ups to I-Spy; that's a perfect venue for this type of show.
