I had thought the previous thread was locked due to drama and the most recent one was deleted mysteriously. None of the mods admit to it and the thread's author is rather angry. It's likely someone stole her password.

No disrespect to you (you know I'm your biggest fan!) but I don't think very many people understood the reason for that thread being locked, since the drama on there wasn't half of what is tolerated regularly these days. Seriously, that one was locked at the end of a short-lived flame war instigated by Posh, who doesn't even post here anymore. I think that the other thread living to see over 2000 posts with very little drama is indicitive of whether or not we are all grown up enough to handle the topic. And besides, now we have had two dupe threads as a result of that lock... so it seems like there is still a sincere interest in the topc.

Your call, either way. If you think it should stay locked, then keep it locked. But it seems kind of pointless at this point, now that there have been so many people wanting it back alive and on the first page. I think the first one was a good addition to OT, even with the stupid spats here and there. The second one was as well, and there were over 200-300 people who posted on those two threads, showing that it isn't just a small handful of people who liked having it around. There was a lot that fit into that thread, that allowed a lot of people to discuss things that would have ordinarily warranted them just creating a new thread entirely. It was a good catch-all for entertaining discussion.

It's not like the people that delete threads are regular old board-folk who guess passwords all day until they have access to the thread of their desire, then do what the please with it.

The people that delete threads are called "mods" (short for moderator). Moderators are people on this board that lock/delete threads and help maintain things, but beware, they participate in discussion as well and are sometimes hard to spot.

Also, they have access to pretty much everything accept NASA launch codes and could delete this if they wanted to in about 25 seconds.

If it was one of the mods than I think they would have fessed up to it and given a reason. Even when the BK/Hexrei drama occurred he didn't delete the threads, he just moved them to a mod only forum.

If it was a mod it would have been locked, it's bad form to delete threads (so far as I've seen).

It seems far more likely someone used the computer right after the thread's creator, or knew the creator's password (or something si,ilar). In fact, I'm not sure if mods can even delete threads...because then why would they lock them? Why not just delete spam?

Honestly, I think it was an accident. There's been a phenomenon lately of people deleting their posts and taking entire threads with it. I honestly think that's what happened.

That or I stayed logged in somewhere and some asshat used my log-in to delete my own thread.

I wasn't accusing a moderator of deleting anything, the point I was trying to convey was that no matter how 007-secret agent-James Bond-ish you get with a password, if something should be deleted, then moderators can delete it, topsecret password or no.

I'm not pointing any fingers, just to clarify things...and am certainly not insinuating that a moderator had any part in the 2nd thread's demise.

the first thread was locked because it got too big and out of drama, this one isnt going anywhere and doesnt even have a lot of confessions (and the confessions are only being made by like the same 3 people anyways, and the rest are joking or making stupid posts.
