last night, dave elliot gave his ears a rest and let the sisters pdx crew run some shit.

spdx brought down this one girl from seattle named chloe. i watched chloe open up for cusick back in june and have dug her sound bytes/groovetech radio sets (rip usa groovetech radio).

so anyway the perfect cyn.
cynthia. hands down the best set i've seen from you. seriously. That record selection and execution was bitchin. I didn't even know atmospheric breaks existed. I give it Two Snaps and A rewind.

genesis. i'm not allowed to review genesis. i thought she tore shit up. tech house prog madness. And she was havin a great time doing it.

Chloe. Chloe gets play on several media outlets. This means that she exposes people to tracks. this means that producers like chloe. this means that she gets loads of up-front stuff.

Uggggh. Tech-Breaks? does that even exist? Then Breaks so fucking thick you could saw through them. Burufunk's stuff is just plain nasty. And their remix of Wavey Gravy destroys. Take something so nice and melodic, and make it really nasty. I think that was the Greyarea mix of Bjork too at the end. She has a wicked stack o tracks. There wasn't a sound she played that I didn't want to ear. Music is rad.

Velo. The 1st and 2nd record you played?
WTF? I have no idea what they are but they are awesome.. Then that song that I can sing but never name.... That mix into it... hi-five. that was some long shit.
We stuck with her till 2:13 but work this morning mandated my wimping out. But i think you could go to seattle and rock one of their nights, return the favor. you got the records and the skillz.

playing with chloe was really awesome...
watching a girl her size (very small) play music that BIG was a first for me! lady's got the badass traxx!! huge machines-o-destruction style breaks, crazy pumpin drummy prog... gotta have to have her back to have more of that, and very VERY soon... weekend-like!

velo- as always, the excellent technician, the beautiful etheral traxx... the confidence... portland, see her here while you can cause somebody gonna get this girl a tourbus- she's on a roll!

genesis- babe, you really packed the punch last night! god, friggin awesome tracks and spot-on mixing to boot.. and boy were you havin' fun up there doing it! (btw- love the newest hairy-dooo)

I will have to agree with you all. when I was down there last night I enjoyed myself very much. Cyn you threw down a dope set then genesis came through with some hard poundin stuff and then there was chloe girls got some skills and dope tracks for sure. unfortunately I didn't get the oportunity to see velo but I know you had to have just devastaded on the decks. sister you girls rock and we hope to work with more of you in the future.

When I arrived, Chloe was playing a little slower and softer
than I wanted to hear at that time of night....
but I had never heard breaks like that before!!
Excellent sounds, good mixing.
I would love to see Chloe again.


Then Velo was up, and I was up for it!
Very nice.... I have no idea what to call that music
but I really liked the driving beat + soulful melodies.
If that's trance, it was thankfully missing the cold synth sound, the epic builds, and the cheeze factor.
Velo's name is everywhere lately, and deservedly so.

Got there just as Cyn was starting up, parked myself at the bar and allowed myself to embrace some of Jenn's vodka skills as Cyns beats embraced my ears. Nice. Looking forward to seeing you @ Urban Revival!

Genesis, well aside from a great selection of tracks, you could just tell she was having a great time. Jill, so cool to chat with you. It was very cool conversation although I fear I talked your ear off! Welcome to the States!

Chloe's choice breaks got me on the dance floor (not that the other ladies were lacking, but I was just savoring the vibe 'til then ya know!). Velo was also out there shakin some moves too.

Velo....seen/heard you before but nice to finally meet you and chat for a few. Thanks for the cd, too! Very cool. Stuck around for about 20 mins of her set before having to take off.

All in all, I had a great time and see this as becoming a regular stop for me. Genesis I think hit it on the head when she said it seemed to her that I was someone who was more in to the music than the 'scene'. True. Seems to me it's that way for the majority of the folks there.

i had a great time!

The kwality of rekkids ALL NIGHT was awesome! there was a very discerning audience of djs/producers there i'm sure most people noticed, and heads bobbed, grins spread and i think i saw the odd foot tapped...

i thought progression was particulalry impressive, each DJ playing off of each other and taking it further, having been "set up"... that's a sign of a great line up.... and respect for each other's choons and position...

i also was impressed by how all the DJs were really getting into there tracks and "feeling it"... i think the last DJ i saw jump from behind the dexx to dance was Sasha... nice one chloe!

blah smah, chloe, your schtuff was awesome! get back here soon!

as usual the 12's crowd and staff were mahvelous, jenn's hand seems to get stuck when pouring, and Dave's generousity in giving these great DJs an outlet in a classy space is appreciated nit just by SisterPDX but by everyone....

this get's 4.5 pies on a Mr Scruff scale (0.5 off for the heating!)

me: whew... Jen, you completely destroyed me within the span of two drinks. I honestly had to go through my stuff and search to remember what excatly I did play first... FYI Chris, that first track was a white label I got a few months back that I haven't played out yet... I love it, but it never quite fit anywhere...
