Subject: [burningman-bcwa] Aphrodisia tomorrow night! Join us....... :)

Greetings, Burner friends…

Just a reminder… Tomorrow night is our fund-raiser for Nick, a local
Burner who has been fighting Leukemia since he returned from the Burn last year. He originally thought he was just overly dehydrated and taxed from his desert foray. Then he reasoned maybe, it was something he had been exposed to amongst the hordes. As you may recall, several of us got sick last year and it was a topic of local discussion for a few weeks. Finally after many tests and weeks of worry, the diagnosis came in: Acute Adult Lymphoblastic Leukemia (sp). This is normally occurring in very young or very old people, not healthy, active young adults. In fact your chances of recovery are much improved if it happens when you are a child.
However, Nick has an indomitable spirit and high intelligence and was able to be very interactive in his treatment. He has continually demonstrated his resilience and strength throughout this lengthy ordeal of many trips to the hospital for blood work, chemotherapy, and examinations. The various treatments sound tortuous and are not for the faint of heart.

He is over halfway through the process and has been pronounced to be in
remission. His longtime friends and family are throwing this
fundraiser
through the good graces of the <<<noise.lab>>> management and staff on
Valentine's Day. We love and honor Nick. He is our poet, our bard,
and
often the heartbeat of our little family here. We are trying to bring
in a
crowd to help pay for some of the formidable costs that this treatment
incurs. We think he is worth it. He has inspired and continues to
inspire
so many folks that meet and interact with him. Nick exemplifies the
Burning
spirit, in his openness, his generosity, his humor, his creativity, and
his
love.

The doors open at 8 pm with a live band. At 9 pm, our lovely, young
ladies
and their friends stage a lingerie fashion show. The 5 dj's start to
spin
through the night following this visual treat. The main vibe will be
deep
House (delicious, sexy and sure to get you movin'). There will be an
upstairs dj spinning with a variety of beats including techno / tribal
/
trance / and more.

The capacity for <<<noise.lab>>> is 1200, so there should not be much
of a line unless you arrive with a crowd and the door is busy with the id check. (21 and up with ID.) Here are a couple of suggestions: 1) carpool or cab since parking will be a premium in that part of the Pine / Pike corridor. 2) dress warm over your pj's or lingerie. My sources tell me that there will be a coatcheck.

This event is advertised in the Stranger (Check out the ad on page 69
for this week.) and on flyers and posters around town. Come prepared to meet new people. Please introduce yourself to the principals or dj's when you see an opportunity. Let them know that you are a Burner. We appreciate your support.

Keep the flame alive,
Don
