That "NAIVE" thread was totally misunderstood and turned up-side down. For those that think I am wrong about LA,that's o.k.,I know how I feel. I am from L.A. and spent half my life here,Unless you have lived in L.A., I don't think you would understand. And for that person that said."Don't knock L.A.",well,I can If I want to,because L.A. sucks! And about HollyWood,it sucks too. As for your friends, they must be "scenester's",gay or just plain "Trendy",because HollyWood is the worst! Yeah,it's fun to go to club's there if your a weekend warrior, like everyone there. And If you live in Oregon, then move here and stay and then let's see if you don't miss the little thing's about Oregon. As for the party scene,L.A. has a massive scene, but it's not fun. Going to party's with 20,000+ people is'nt fun,but the Hardcore scene here is untouchable. Give-it up for L.A. Hardcore! (One thing I do like about this God-Forsaken place)...System Of A Down wrote a song called "Toxcity" or something like that, anyways,if you have heard it, it is so right about this place. It has it's advantage's and it's an amazing place that can be very beautiful, but if you talk to people that have lived here thier whole-life,they don't know anybetter and don't even know what's outside. If you watch the David Lynch movie "Mullholland Drive",it pretty much sums-up the HollyWood vibe and the darker side of L.A.,I admitt I miss Seattle,so what.;)

I lived in LA, and the assorted suburbs around it, and even way the fuck out in the high desert (Phelan, Pinon Hills and Hesperia...I had an addy in each) The city section of LA is dirty and sucks, but other than that I fucking love LA and all of California. my husband is a Californian, born and raised in the LA area, and he's the only decent guy I know who isn't gay. By far, my fav town in the area is Whittier tho.
Hollywood sucks if you're a young homeless girl trying not to get raped again...other than that i have no idea. My brother said it's fucked up tho...hence Hollyweird.

I was the person that wrote that. For your information, my friends are none of the above. They are STRAIGHT (since you seem to stereotype so easily we'll just clear that right up) hardworking people in the entertainment & music industry. They bust their ass like everyone else in LA. You can certainly knock LA all you want but if something sucks maybe you need to look inward. I have had nothing but excellent times while living & visiting in LA. It's because of my attitude & the people I choose to spend my time with. You don't have to be a scenester to enjoy LA. You don't have to be gay either - idiot. Maybe it's your closed mind or your crappy attitude that is to blame.
By the way, the only place i've ever been mugged in my life is Seattle. Two times!!! Never in LA or New York. Hmmmm, weird.

Easy tiger. It's called an OPINION ;)
“For the record,” none of us here in Seattle would miss you one bit if you went down to cali. Just one less car that should be in LA to begin with off of our poor roads ;)
(If you're not laughing, might I suggest an enema ;))

Bah, I can't believe I missed all the dissin'. Heh.
I concur, California sucks ass. LOL. Ok, not really. It has it's good and bad points, just like everywhere else. I should know... I was born and raised there. 16 years of kick ass shopping, the beach, and theme parks. 16 years of traffic (sometimes taking 2 hours just to get from North Hollywood to Long Beach), smog, and the breeding ground for all things superficial.
*shrugs*
I get a little homesick from time to time, but occasional weekend trips quickly takes care of that. The only thing I miss is being able to easily find Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. The only place one can "talk shop" about it out here is Barney's. Alas, even they don't carry it. :(
All in all, I think it's a fun place to visit... but for many, a not so grand place to live. Plus it's much too hot for my liking. :D

That's another thing. You NEED a car there. The Los Angeles metro system sucks, and is VERY scary. LOL.

Yes, I can see that. Hence the comment "you can certainly knock LA all you want". The problem I had with his "OPINION" is that in the process of attempting to communicate it he insinuated that my friends were "scenesters, gay or just plain trendy". That, dear Carley, is NOT an opinion - it's an attack.
BTW - I don't drive a car. I drive a motorcycle - Pffft.
Ps. I am laughing...in a dark hole deep down inside. :)

So in '92, my folks moved from Miami, Florida to Idaho Falls, ID. It was a pretty rocky change, but eventually I got used to it and saw some of the good sides to the small town.
Then, in '95, my graduating year, my band took a trip to Orlando to play in a National Competition at MGM studios. When we were there, and afterwards when asked how people liked Florida, there was alot of bitching and complaining about they didn't like this or they didn't like that. One went so far as to say that Florida sucked because their fastfood restaurants didn't have frysauce.
Frysauce is Idaho's own special sauce used for fries. It's made of ketchup and mayonase.
The point is that every place has its ups and downs. No one city is going to be exactly like the next city, and instead of complaining about where you're at, just suck it up, find out what the deal is with the place and make the best of things.

*shrugs* I don't have a desire to move down there, nor do I think moving there would be a bad thing. You're talking to someone who's lived in places ranging from Miami, FL to Valdez, Alaska.
You think I ended up moving to Pullman because I had my sights set on it? But hey, this really isn't such a bad place either. I just found out what the deal with this place is. And school is here, so that's reason enough.

I've lived in places ranging from the far north to the deep south to the east coast & to the west & there is no chance in hell I'd move back to Cali! Outside of the consistantly luke warm weather, fab (nude!) beaches & shopping par excellence it is the BANE of America & might as well drop off the continent! ;) ;)
(Boo these times!! A girl can't be jaded about anything anymore without someone telling her to play nice. FUCK YOU TOO ;) )

LOL!!!! Is there a bus that even runs to South Central ;)
Ever notice how there are no exit signs or dashed lines on the freeway around the Watts exit???? I'm convinced it's for the tourists.
"WHITEY! This aint no snoop dog video! GO TO YOUR HOME!"
;)
(realistically, Watts isn't that bad provided you aren't an idiot)

oh wow dude my husband was talking of the Arby's "frysauce" last time we were down in Hesperia. He said it was a Cali thing, and I think they used mustard along with mayo in the ketchup. OPr something. He's sleeping, otherwise I'd ask. Frysauce. muahahahahahaha. I still have a packet of McDonald's old recipe barbeque sauce from the mid-90's.
