here are my thoughts on atlantis.. (i posted
this on nwr but decided to add it here, too)

from what i understand, aaron savoie (the person atlantis is supposed to be in honor of) died (shortly after an event at naf) because of taking too much ecstasy.

i have yet to see anything that indicates
that there will be an effort to educate people about
drug use at this event, and the flyer doesn't say
anything about it either.

is gathering a bunch of kids (many of whom will
probably be irresponsible with their drug use) at
naf, the place where it all happened in the first
place, really a tribute to his memory?

how is it going to have a positive impact and
prevent the same situation from happening again
to another kid like aaron? is anyone really going
to know that the event is in his honor? or will it
just be another party at naf?

i am sorry if this sounds harsh. this weekend
at funktology, i was very depressed to see an
ambulance come and leave several times. it seems
like massive promoters are making very little
effort to educate the people attending their events
and keep them safe. i wish there was something
in seattle like "mindbodylove" in vancouver.. people
who set up tables that give out condoms, information
about ways to be safe if you choose to use drugs, etc.

Kim I agree fully,nothing frightens me more than trying to peel my eyes off of a kid down on the ground with an ambulance crew while I walk to my car wondering "what and how much did he take to cause him/her to possibly be dying at what is supposed to be a celebration of life" what frightens me more is that some of the kids who walk by this don't even bat an eyelash or act like they give a rip. Without awareness deaths and overdoses and violence will only continue to grow someday beyond our control. People at least need to have a choice in being educated and informed about what is going on in their chosen lifestyle instead of being herded like cattle and mislead on their safety and well-being!!

of atlantis plan to pass out information
about how to be safer, as well as having
a donation area to give money to aaron's
family. so, sorry for jumping to conclusions...

I also remember a kid down on the ground after 2 Delicious in the driveway and the cops were trying to help him until the ambulance crew got there, that was the situation I was refering to in my earlier reply, how very sad. Does anyone know more information about how often things like this REALLY happen??(Or where i can find it) I'm always hearing rumors, mixed stories,etc. and I won't be able to attend the party this weekend to hear their info either.

I'm going to water for sure this weekend and I am going with two first time ravers..so it should be fun! I'm a wanna-be-hardcore-but-my-job-gets-in the-way-somtimes raver- I love electronic music, I'd love to make some new friends though, anybody gonna know what' they'll be wearing?

why not go to atlantis, supporting the smaller promoters always turns out to be the best idea, they but more heart into what they do and have a whole more at stake.

the boy you saw was aaron.
he died right after 2 delicious. he had
a mild heart attack and then went into
a coma. it was his 18th birthday. he had
taken 5 e's.

Yeah I am pretty sad too.. I don't know how I let his friends talk me out of calling an ambulence sooner. He said 5 his friends said he just dropped another one. what a way to celebrate a birthday. Kids.. this is why we have a bad reputation.. keep a look out for your friends..and don't ever let them do anything crazy like that.
