God...Fox news...I'd feel so extremely stupid if I was leaving my house at any time and got run over and killed by a bus (or tank) at 5:59 pm, and my last hour on earth had been spent watching that flake Bill O'Really.
That's why i won't go see bad comedies or shit like "8-Mile".
Or watch Faux "News".
C-Span baby, or up to as many as 25 worldwide dailies (newspapers) if I have the time. Plus weeklies...Takes all day to wade through, but it's worth it right now.
Or www.democraticunderground.com . :D

Judging from both the sept 11 attacks "THERE'S A BOMB AT THE STATE DEPARTMENT!!!!", and from the first gulf war "Iraqi soldiers are playing soccer with BABIES!!!," it's a safe bet that you can't really trust anyone.

***didn't notice that a thread was already started regarding news links... so instead of another, i deleted mine and here it is as a reply...***
whether horrified, sickened, disgusted, dismayed, or… delighted, pleased, thrilled, elated, overjoyed, or… frightened, petrified, nervous, fearful, worried, anxious, or… brave, intrepid, courageous, bold, daring, or… agitated, angry, annoyed, irritated, furious, outraged, infuriated, or… calm, tranquil, quiet, cool, composed, serene, relaxed…
we are all individuals and have been bestowed the god given right, human right, of freedom. freedom of speech, of the press and of religion, the right to assemble and petition the government. freedom to feel how we feel.
and, although with such rights and privileges, my views will remain silent (on the board @ least) out of the absolute respect towards others … respect of their own views, their own ideas, and their own opinions… whether they be the same, or quite different than my own.
all i do want to say is to suggest to remain as knowledgeable as possible during this time: internationally, nationally, and locally. and in the case one hasn’t already… the links below are quite the right step in a very right direction.

No, just that it's quite a feat to beat out CNN for viewership when CNN is shown in millions more homes. But the facts be damned right?

Jason this little hangup of yours is getting ridiculous. The “fact” that Fox upset ratings is as irrelevant to me as McDonalds selling billions of hamburgers. It means nothing but that people are watching it... which isn't credence, novel, relevant or anything but exactly what it is. Ratings. Woopdeedoo.
Hence:
Just because everyone eats it doesn't mean it's not crap.

Yeah go figufre if the same number of viewers where tuned into some broadcast she favored it would "clearly show the brillince of what was presented" or something of that nature.
Yup gotta love the elitist mentality.

I didn't list those sources either ;)
But "for the record," they are "good" sources for what they are; indymedia being alternative media (http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/FrequentlyAskedQuestionEn) & demunderground a self-proclaimed active left-wing discussion board (http://democraticunderground.com/about.html). They don't pretend to be anything otherwise ;) and if one needed examples of independant media, wanted to know what was up in left-wing discussion or left activist planning, those would be excellent sites to visit.
News... er... not so much. But as mentioned, they are what they are.

Yeah! You sure know me Mike ;)
I don't read Fox news. I consider Fox news a waste of my time because there is nothing I can't read directly from the sources that they poached minus the pop ups, ad banners, ridiculous commentaries and trash a la Fox. Ya know what? I don’t read MSN either! It is a WASTE of my time. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? WHY are you two so hung up on my opinion of Fox news? Are you really that desperate for a punch? Might want to try a subject that “matters,” because this is *completely* ridiculous.
On a side note, Fox News was my star source for my paper on "eco-terrorism" a few years ago. That's about the time I stopped bothering with it all together... but next time I need more **supreme** examples of Yellow Journalism, you bet I know where to look ;)
Ciao.

Fair enough. But to use your McDonalds logic here. Let's say McDonalds is CNN, it's been around for a decade plus longer than Fox. Lets say that FOX is called "The Burger joint". With in a few years, more and more people jumped from McDonalds to The Buger Joint. Now The Burger Joint is on top. But McDonalds loyalists and nay sayers don't like the fact that The Burger Joint is obviously satifying their customers. So they make weak arguments to downplay their success. So of course downplaying the success and stating whoopdeedoo is expected. <G>
Now surious though, whether you watch FOX at all or not one thing is for sure it has great coverage of this conflict. They have teamed up with thier sister station in the UK Skynews which is providing some of the very images that many other channels are using becuase they were able to get their teams in very good areas around bagdhad and abroad, and not to forget that FOX has the only reporter on the operation in Afghanistan which is pretty remarkable. MSNBC is doing pretty good, ABC I'd say is providing some good coverage. CBS has switched over to the NCAA Tounament, which I am watching now.
Take care,
Jason

The same cats who passionately argue that Bush is smart are equally passionate that the network that hired Geraldo and Oliver fucking North* is the Best News Chanel we have. Ideology trumps all logic, reason, or evidence with these fools. I'm eagerly awaiting hearing you guys scream "No, you liberal swine, it's clear the sky isn't blue, it's green!"
Ugh.
At what point did you guys decide promoting your ideology was more important than processing facts?
Anyway, I'm off. There's a lot of messageboards out there where people don't repeat what they heard that day on talk radio over and over. I wonder what they have to say. . .

He's also, interestingly enough, a total fraud. Salon did some digging on his background, and it turns out he made up much of his "credentials." Not that wingnuts give a crap about things like honesty, but still. . .
Regarding Fox: Zupe, you know that the National Enquirer has quite high circulation numbers. Does that mean alien babies really are living in Elvis' thumb? Fox panders to the lowest common denominator with its "news," and in America today that's a good marketing strategy. Nothing more. Note also that Orwell accurately predicted this sort of thing many decades ago, not that Murdoch has ever read Orwell of course. Too much like "thinking" for his tastes. . .

The reason I posted www.democraticunderground.com is because the Latest Breaking News forum isn't just left-wing breaking news, or right-wing breaking news, like Drudge. It's just that, latest breaking news. Links to worldwide news sources, their articles, and up-to-the-minute coverage of just about everything. The only thing is, left-wing activists are replying to the posts. The links themselves are great information.
That and DU rocks. :D

FreeRepublic? Is that where Republicrats hang out? If so, are they showing great statisfaction over the deaths of American and British soldiers like people over there on Indymedia are? And justifying the enemies actions like at Democratic Underground too? If that's the case obviously all of these sites are for the fringe to speak out, and gives me every reason to consider them all irrelevant and Un-American.
