I guess with all the hot weather we've been having, I get a little worried about my vinyl in my room. I just worry that the heat may start to warp them while I'm too busy working to notice. I have a few record crates, so I put all my most cherished records in those, but some are exsposed to the heat. Are my records safe? I don't have a closet or basement to store them, so I just want to know what are some options for making sure they're fine. Or do I even need to worry?

direct sunlight is bad, obviously
unless its getting over 120, shouldnt worry too much, especially if properly stored, upright... half filled crates should benefit from books/mags/porn videos to keep the standing upright
btw, i've had more records break by leaving in a freezing garage than i've had warp! dang....

Nope. No vinyl by a window....Well, a crate is by a window, with the blinds shut. I don't worry about it too much, should I? Thanx for the average temp of worrying about vinyl warping. It never gets that hot in my room thank gawd. Now, if only I had the money for another fan.....

trouble is cars get REAL hot REAL quick.. if records are squished in the box, they have less chance to warp, but the grooves may collapse a bit causing shitty sounds... yugh....

I put my records right underneath the window. The sunlight will never hit the records. Try it yourself, no matter if it's at 10 AM, 3 PM, 6 PM....the sunlight won't get to your records.. :D :D
