I've been playing on friends equipment for years now. Now that I moved out into a place by my self I need to get my own setup. So I'm shopping around for a mixer. Last year I've been mixing on a Vestax PMC 170A.
Mabye I was doing something wrong but I couldn't get the mixer to monitor post fader, only pre. Thus I could never monitor changes to the eq, which is a problem when mixing trance.
So I'm considering buying a vestax and wondering what models have only post fader monitoring, or if I was just doing something wrong? Here's the models I'm looking at
PCV-002
PCV-175
PCV-275
PMC-170
Does anybody know which if any of these models have post fader monitoring?

Tell me why the crap I would only want pre fader monitoring? I want to hear the eq's in the monitor so that I can tweak them before bringing the channel into the mix. Am I missing something?

I agree ... that Vestax you're using now is a pile of shite ... I've used that damn thing so much that it hurts ... not knowing what the EQ changes that you're making are going to sound like before they come out the mains is crappy for most genres, if not all ... not that the EQs on that Vestax even do shit anyway ... isn't it like a -6db kill on each band ... blah, can't do a damn thing with that ...

Post fader and post EQ are very different things amigo...
POST FADER... your cross faders and upfaders will affect what you hear in your headhpones (AKA master cue)
POST EQ... Is what I think your talking about.

Well yes, most studio style mixers I've owned didn't differential between post fader and post eq "post" just usualy ment post fader and post eq. Either way that doesn't answer my questions. Which vestax models have post eq monitoring?

get a vestax pmc 250,
19" mixer with big rotary knobs for the eq cuts. 2 channel with an aux input on a small knob. +4 and -10 outputs and the outs are xlrs or 1/4" separate out and level for monitors. reasonable sound for a chinese mixer.
eqs cut to infinity and add +4
best of all post eq monitoring and split cues if you want em.

I like vestax mixer and all, but if you are looking for a mixer to scratch or for everlasting fader use, you need to get the new Rane TTM 56. For what you are looking for it has everything. The fader on the TTm are magnetic, so the contour of the fader is really accurate. It is a button that automatically switches from post to pre. You can also hook up effects to it. When you are using the fader to do delays it stays on, it continues and the effects continue. Because it isn't part of the channel, it's part of the master volume. That is the best mixer to date and will be the Technics of mixers. I stand by that with my life. The fader will never die! Go to the website for Rane and you will see what I mean.

P.s. I have one. I am speaking from experience! :D
