View Full Version : VESTAX PMC07 QUESTION (For the gear heads)

Allright this one is for the gear heads! I fancy myself a gear head but this is an area I'm a little shady in...


Vestax used to make all their models in Japan. In recent years they switched over to producing mixers in china, for the sake of cheaper labor and components. The question however is, did ALL The models witch to being made in china?

I know for a fact the vestax PMC-06 series used to be made in Japan, but are now made in china. If you doubt me go check the beck of a recently purchased 06. Anyways, did the vestax PMC-07 series do the same? I was noticing yesterday that my 07 was made in Japan, and it seems to me that it possibly could be from before vestax made it's switch (as I got it used), but at the same time the 07, being their flagship model, may never have switched manufcaturing to China.



I'd be stoked to discover that I was rocking the old jap model versus the newer and crappier china made model, however thats the purpose of this thread.


Thoughts anyone?

i might have thi sall slightly backwards, and it is not direct answer. But I believe Numark bought out vestax, or vice versa some few years ago, and there was some speculation whether or not switches in manufacturing and distribution would effect product quality
given the rather largee disappointment of the samuri edition, I find this likely and a potential answer to your question

Nope, Korg bought out vestax, hence their HORRIBLE customer service.

Anyone else who can maybe shed some light on this?

(the sumaruai series DID suck, not to mention the horrible stigma it developed with it's target market for that stupid auto crab feature on the x-fader)

Actually Vestax bought out NEXT. That's a good part of thew reason why alot of the newer Vestax mixers,decks, etc have turned to crap. They still make some of the gear in Japan, you just have to make sure to ask for it though. I was recently looking into purchasing a PMC 250 until I was told they were now made in China.

The korg purcahse I was relatively sure on, as andy from platinum informed me about it. He is crazy andy however...

i'm not sure of any of this japanese or chinese issues but,most devices will have a mfg. local indicated on one or more of the pc's.also check the componentry for this.

Word, well like I said on the top of this thread mine says MADE IN JAPAN. I want to know if I have the older Jap model, or if all the 07's are still jap.

I am not entirely sure if Korg did buy them out, but I know that all distributorship inquiries and other questions are directed to Korg, and all dealer locator information is obtained through Korg's website. I am still waiting to hear back from Korg about a Vestax product question and it has been what? Wow, working on 4 months... Fuck that.

Yeah exactly. Korg has HORRIBLE customer service :)


Does anyone have a vestax PMC07, and if so would they please look at the back and tell me where it says it was made!

Maybe thats why the 05 costs more than the 06, yet on paper it's features are virtually identical to the 06!

Perhaps the 05's and 07's are made in japan. Rocking, thanks for the heads up!

I already own an 07 thanks. I'd get a 56, but it's out of my price range, and I'm sold on fader EQ's now.

what is your price range? i know you can score an 07 for like $500 now, but for about $150 more you can get that rane. you can always haggle the salesperson at GC, or if you have a friend there i am sure they could cut you a nice deal.
